Rockstar Editor Tips: Capturing Footage

Posted 14 hours, 34 minutes ago | Author: R* M | Filed Under: Social Club, Games

Presenting the first in our series of tips devoted specifically to the Rockstar Editor, which is currently available exclusively with the PC version of GTAV and coming to the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game in a forthcoming update. Today's feature focuses on advice for capturing footage, with info directly from the developers of the Editor, as well as effective examples from YouTube creators and Social Club members. And if you're searching for additional tips on some of the basics before attempting to craft a clip worthy of garnering top prize in the Rockstar Editor video contest currently running, you can always check out our tutorial pages on Social Club

Use filters to give your movie a unique style. Proper use of the available filters can change the whole look and feel giving your masterpiece a more polished look.

For a truly unique video, plan out your action before starting to record, just as any film director would. It’s very easy to record a Grenade Launcher rampage in Los Santos, and then add some slow-motion before you upload it – but a well-thought out sequence can set you apart from the crowd. And if something spontaneous happens, don’t forget you can always use the Action Replay feature to record it retroactively.

If you are shooting for a specific scene, make sure to take several takes of each scene (including one or two in First Person for extra editing options). The chances of the shot being ruined by a passing pedestrian or sound effect are far less if you have multiple takes! Of course, sometimes the ambient world can work to your advantage: when shooting, try to think of the random citizens of Los Santos as unpredictable extras in your scene, each one with flawless acting abilities. Their individual characteristics and reactions can contribute immensely to setting the scene and atmosphere. bugbutts' 'Being Trevor' focuses almost exclusively on the reaction of a bystander to great comedic effect.

In fact, the city and surrounding areas have so much life that you may not even need to be the star in your own movie. You could try a documentary, cinéma-vérité approach to capturing the essence of Los Santos. Get to know Southern San Andreas; it’s a big world out there.

While the camera must stay close to your game character for technical reasons, you can "cheat" this slightly by using stunt doubles. For instance, in 'Running, Man' by 8-Bit Bastardthis shot of Trevor running along the mountain ridge in front of the sunset is actually not the notorious Mr. Philips, but in fact a stunt double created in GTA Online. Clever editing makes the shot seamlessly fit into the narrative of the clip. You can transfer captured Editor footage between players, so collaborate with friends on large projects if that will save time, or allow you to circumvent camera limitations.

You can assemble a colorful array of characters using the Rockstar Editor's Director Mode. Each one comes complete with actions and short lines of dialogue.

In Director Mode, Settings such as Explosive Melee and Slidey Cars are fun to play around with for sure, but go easy on them unless it really adds something to your scene. 'Super Clown' by Boris The Blade is a great example of how the Super Jump Setting can be used to distort reality just enough to enhance the themes of fear and dread in a scene. Also, carefully consider the ideal Time of Day and Weather as this can add heaps of atmosphere to your project.

These are just a few tips for capturing footage, of course feel free to share any tricks of your own with the community in the comments below. Also, keep an eye out in the days ahead for some strategies on soundtrack and camera effects, and best of luck to all those attempting to achieve cinematic glory in the inaugural GTAV Rockstar Editor contest.

New Rockstar Verified Jobs: A 40-Story Deathmatch, Woodland Chaos, Body Snatching and More

Posted 1 week, 2 days ago | Author: R* M | Filed Under: Social Club, Games

Today, we have 10 brand new Rockstar Verified Jobs created by the Social Club community, stamped with the Rockstar seal of approval, and now live in-game for everyone to play across all five platforms - PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Among them are some of the most unique and creatively themed Deathmatches, Captures, Last Team Standings and Races in the Verified collection to date. We've also Verified three bonus Races for PC, PS4 and Xbox One that were designed with support for larger lobbies and making use of the additional props placement that those systems make possible. Check out all the Jobs below and head over to Social Club to bookmark them, or find them in the Rockstar Verifieds section of the GTA Online in-game Pause menus.

10 New Verified Jobs available on all platforms

Chaos erupts in Forest Mayhem

Forest Mayhem - Created by Titlito
Perhaps taking inspiration from his homeland's natural terrain, Switzerland's Titlito has created a chaotic and fast-paced Deathmatch for up to 10 players in a hilly section of dense forest just south of Paleto Bay. Tightly packed trees and boulders can make visibility tricky, particularly when players go off-piste around the side of the arena-style barriers. A narrow gulch separates the sides, which can make for some interesting opening exchanges, as each team tries to dominate the sides and make headway over the two bridges. Watch out when taking cover behind explosive containers - the centrally placed Grenade Launcher could prove your undoing.

GTA: Stealing a Dead Person - Created by joeACdude43
"Martin Madrazo has ordered you to crash the funeral of recently deceased Forelli crime family member Johnny Pacino and steal his body so he can hold it for ransom." Two Teams go up against the grieving members of the Forelli gang to gain control of the Romero hearse carrying Johnny Pacino's last remains. The graveyard will become the centerpiece location as players shootout against NPCs to get behind the wheel of the hearse. It's a long way back to each Capture Point, and with each team driving Jackals for support, you can expect the body to change hands several times before it reaches its final destination. Tip: Two-handed weapons such as Assault Rifles can't be used while driving, so hustle to pick up one of the Micro SMGs for maximum versatility.

RoC Santos - Created by D.A.R.K.N.E.S.S.
Mastery of the settings in the Race Creator can really change the look and feel of your Created Job. D.A.R.K.N.E.S.S., leader of the Reapers 0f Carnage Crew, has created a Race for Supercars set in the dead of night, with Traffic turned off. The effect is one of a classic streetcar race - Midnight Club style. Well-placed checkpoints make the route easy to follow, but intelligent prop placement make it challenging to master. There are classic hallmarks of street races, including a hairpin bend on the freeway and an awesome fast-paced jump to see you past the checkered flag. If you're way out in front and feeling confident, feel free to troll those in your wake with a flip through the finish line.

A forty-story fight breaks out in Triphasic

Triphasic - Created by DimiBarcelona
Catalonian YouTuber DimiMoon puts his own spin on a skyscraper-based Deathmatch: The three wings of the Arcadius building Downtown have been linked up with ‘bridges’ made from Shipping Containers. DimiMoon has clearly put a lot of effort into tweaking prop placement to get things aligned and stacked just right. There's a smart risk-vs.-reward balance at play as well – the most powerful weapon pickups are available to players brave enough to risk death and run across the top of the containers on top of the Arcadius business building. Oh - and watch out for Sticky Bombs.

Contend: Gas 'N' Go - Created by Wraith-Of-Vern
Wraith-Of-Vern
has set up a Capture very similar in location to previously Verified Job "Contend: Zombie Town", but this has a radical departure in style. Key to victory will be stocking up on weapons while at your Team's Capture Point to prepare for the vicious battle for Bags at this rural gas station. This is very much a classic Contend-style Capture that requires each player to navigate asphalt and off-road terrain in intelligently-chosen vehicles. The gas station provides a strong focal point for the action to take place, with a few NPCs dotted around to keep things interesting.

The Great Adventurer - Created by DeadRooster
DeadRooster
of the illustrious GTA Adventures Crew delivers a fantastic high speed point-to-point for Supercars that takes in the scenery of Downtown Los Santos, the LS Freeway, Vinewood Hills, Grand Senora Desert and the Alamo Sea; all in a Race that can be completed by ace drivers in a little under 3 minutes, 30 seconds. We're glad to say that all of DeadRooster's creativity isn't totally spent on the Race itself, saving some for a Description as good as any that we've seen: "You've always claimed to be an outdoors person and that one day you're gonna climb Mt. Chiliad. Today your adventure finally begins. So here you are at Los Santos International Airport, in a super car paid for by your rich Liberty City mob boss father, heading to the base of the mountain the only way you know how; driving like an ass with no regard for the environment and those around you. Super car Race for up to 16 players from LSIA to the first dirt road north of the Alamo Sea."

Life Invader Circuit - Created by The_Twilicane
The_Twilicane
describes this one best: "Tight turns, narrow and wide roads, a smooth hairpin, and fast adrenaline pumping sections are sure to please those who are more serious about racing." This is a fairly simple Super car Race around Rockford Hills, Little Seoul and Vespucci. Props are placed well adding to the professional feel of the track without interfering with the route.

Cars go flying in Ramps! Ramps! Ramps!

Ramps! Ramps! Ramps! - Created by GTA_Fan_82
This is a short track, set entirely on the bridge over Lago Zancudo. Players jump over small ramps as they criss-cross their way to the end of the bridge, before turning around and repeating the process in the opposite direction. There are sure to be lots of collisions and near-misses as the pack thins out and cars are flying into each other from different directions. Don't forget to flick down on the left analog stick in midair to maintain a level position for your car. Also, work hard to master the hairpins at either end, where there is prime opportunity for vindictive stragglers to knock you out of position.

Shotgun City - Created by Unique Ash
Shotgun City is a Last Team Standing that takes place in a dark alleyway beneath the Del Perro Pier. The alley is filled with Props at regular intervals, making for a very claustrophobic map which requires combined skills of stealth and timing. The Props provide plenty of cover allowing each team to advance forwards fairly safely - just as well since you’ve got to get very close to your enemy to kill them with the default Shotguns. Just one clean shot will do it - you may soon find yourself in a tense war of attrition where any false move will immediately be punished.

Project Z Grand Prix - Created by Zenzi23
Zenzi23
is another dedicated racer, belonging to four different pre-eminent racing Crews including Verified Race Creator hotbed Red Rum Racing. Project Z is a Grand Prix style circuit requiring multiple skillsets to manage intricate technical sections, challenging high speed corners and hidden chicanes. Pick a car to match your skills whether you're a rally-style drifter, technical wizard on the racing line or you just prefer to throw caution to the wind and accelerate away from any trouble.

3 Bonus Races designed for PC, PS4 and Xbox One

Casino Royale - Created by parksguard
Parksguard's penchant for racing is proven by his membership of two of the top racing Crews around: Nonchalant Dominance PS4 and Sweat Buckets. Combine this with the fact that 11 different versions of his newly Verified race Casino Royale have been published and it's no surprise that this memorable and exciting track is full of brilliant prop placement - clearly the work of a true perfectionist out to turn Mirror Park into a real racetrack.

Cheetah Grand Prix - Created by gun1t123
Committed GTA racing luminary gun1t123 has put together a high speed Race for Super cars in the Downtown and Rockford Hills areas of Los Santos. We've seen many Races in these areas before but gun1t1233 (aka Shaggy) carved a unique route with props forming additional tight bends and chicanes. This is a Race that works brilliantly with a full lobby so gather your Crew together for a session and make sure to crank the number of Laps for the full experience. For a preview before you get involved, you can see a playthrough recorded by Shaggy himself.

 B.I.T.C.H. - Created by LadyMiss80s
As the description says, this Race has it all - Beach. Industrial. Track. City. Highway. Class act LadyMiss80s has created a lengthy Motorcycle Race across a number of different locations in LS. It's a difficult route, one which take several laps to truly master. Watch out in particular for high speed jumps into the Los Santos Storm Drain as well as a tight 270-degree turn / staircase combo. Long narrow sections along the train tracks are ideal for popping a wheelie in your Hakuchou and ripping past 29 other players all jostling for position.

Please note that in addition to occasionally changing Job names due to taste, copyright or other reasons - we also from time to time will make other small edits to players' Jobs before making them Rockstar Verified. This includes, but is not limited to modifying spawn points, improving checkpoints or increasing/decreasing the amount of weapon picks ups for a particular Job. Once Jobs are Rockstar Verified, they become available for play across multiple platforms, so you'll have all these newly Verified creations available in your next Freemode session (and you can always bookmark them at the Social Club for easy access in your next session).

Also – tune in tomorrow Friday May 15 at 5pm ET for a special Rockstar Games Twitch live stream where we'll be playing through all of the above Jobs with members of the Rockstar community including invited Creators themselves. Keep an eye on our Twitter, or join us in the Twitch chat for an opportunity to get involved in the lobby as a player.

Rockstar Editor Contest: Create the Official Music Video for “Leave” by Wavves

Posted 1 week, 4 days ago | Author: R* M | Filed Under: Music, Social Club, Games

Calling all budding directors of Vinewood: You've had several weeks to get to grips with the Rockstar Editor (and we've seen some mighty fine works published already) - and now's the time to pitch your editing skills against the rest of the Grand Theft Auto V PC community with the inaugural Rockstar Editor video contest. This is your chance to create the official music video for the track "Leave" by Wavves, off the Alchemist & Oh No Present: Welcome To Los Santos album and the new in-game radio station The Lab.

THE CREATIVE BRIEF

You may have heard the lads from Wavves on your Los Santos radio dial as the hosts of Vinewood Boulevard Radio or caught them recently when they guested on the Rockstar Games live stream. Now, Wavves have commissioned the Social Club community to create their official music video for "Leave". Wavves themselves along with Rockstar Games will be reviewing the finalists and deciding who wins, so here's a bit of direction on what they are looking for:

The song is about leaving a bad situation. Whether that means a criminal enterprise or activity, or a bad romantic relationship, or something else entirely is up to you to interpret as the music video director. Just have fun with it and don’t be afraid to get a little weird along the way.

To fire your creative juices, here's the track for you to listen to:

THE PRIZES

As well as the prestige of having your masterpiece selected as the track's official music video, the grand prize winner will receive a custom G910 Orion Spark Gaming Keyboard and G510 Proteus Core Gaming Mouse both of which come laser engraved with the Rockstar Editor logo as well as your own personal Social Club ID to make it a truly one-of-a-kind bit of kit.

The G910 Orion Spark Gaming Keyboard features ultra-responsive mechanical keys and Logitech’s Intelligent Illumination. Fully supported by GTAV PC, the backlit keys match the signature color of the character you’re playing as while in Story Mode dynamically (blue for Michael, green for Franklin, orange for Trevor), the function keys flash red and blue when you have a Wanted Level, and a custom profile can be setup to backlight only the relevant keys while using the Rockstar Editor. The G510 Proteus Core Gaming Mouse features 11 programmable buttons, customizable weight and five selectable DPI settings, from headshot-precise 200 DPI targeting to lightning-fast 12,000 DPI maneuvers.

As if that's not enough, the Winner also receives a deluxe prize pack of awesome official GTAV gear and a $100 gift card at the Rockstar Warehouse - which can be used on anything currently available, including rounding out your Rockstar Digital Download collection, expanding your Rockstar wardrobe, or upgrading your GTA Online vehicle fleet with a Megalodon Shark Card.

Two runners-up will each receive a $100 Rockstar Warehouse gift card and a deluxe prize pack of official GTAV gear.

The winner and the two runners-up will also be featured here at the Rockstar Newswire.

HOW TO ENTER

Entering the competition is easy. Simply create a video in the Rockstar Editor using GTAV PC and publish it to Rockstar Games Social Club via the in-game menu. From there, head to the My Videos page on Social Club, and tag your video with the word "leave" to enter it into the contest. A few important points:

  • The video must feature the song "Leave" by Wavves as its soundtrack, and only that song.
  • Your video must be between 3 and 5 minutes in length.
  • The video must be published to Rockstar Games Social Club and tagged with the word 'leave' between now and 11:59pm ET on June 8th to be eligible.
  • For legal reasons, only residents of certain countries are eligible to win.
  • The video must be made entirely using the Rockstar Editor. We know that many advanced Rockstar Editor video creators like to use additional third party editing software but in order to keep this competition fair for all entrants, we require that you only use the Rockstar Editor in producing the video.

UNLOCKABLE T-SHIRT FOR EVERY EDITOR (REDEEMED THIS JUNE)

Even if you don't win, every Social Club member worldwide who uploads any video to Social Club (not just entries in the competition) during the contest period will unlock an in-game t-shirt bearing the logo of the Vinewood blockbuster hit The Loneliest Robot in Great Britain. Please note that the t-shirt will be awarded after the contest ends in early June, so please don't expect it to appear as soon as you upload a video! And for those who haven't seen it yet, The Loneliest Robot in Great Britain is on an extended run at the Tivoli, Ten Cent and Oriental Theatres in downtown Los Santos right now.

Wavves and Rockstar Games will pick the winning clip taking into consideration adherence or interpretation of The Creative Brief mentioned above, entertainment and artistic value, editing quality and overall creativity. Watch the Social Club contest page to see how other Social Club members think your clip stacks up against the competition and stay tuned for the winners announcement this June.

Void in certain countries and where prohibited. See www.rockstargames.com/socialclub/events/contests for official rules and eligibility details.

Crew Cut: The Top Street Racers on PC, Crew Joyriding with the Rockstar Editor & More

Posted 1 week, 4 days ago | Author: R* L | Filed Under: Social Club, Games

In this latest edition of the Crew Cut, we take a look at the top performing racing Crews in these first few weeks of PC release, as well as the activities of some quite unique squads such as the Heist-themed Lufthansa Collective, plus Crews utilizing the Rockstar Editor to showcase their adventures and more.

TOP PC RACING CREWS

Members of 2ch PCA, currently the #1 PC racing Crew, at one of their regular car meetups.

Since last month's release of Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online for PC, elite Crews have been off to the Races, hopping in their customized rides and racking up wins to prove who are the most feared street racers of the latest generation to invade Los Santos.

We can report that as of press time, the top racing Crew on PC is Japan's 2ch PCA led by H_I_R_O with an astounding 7,091 wins amongst their 854 members. 2CPC are also proper car enthusiasts - frequently posting car meetups on their Steam page and they're also collectively responsible for hundreds of Creator Races including the recently published “SHUA” on PC by member HyyyAngYi which has already racked up over 300 plays in just about one week’s time.

Ranked second, and not by far, are Axe X Executioner with 6,199 wins. Created by RaymondWai and with a leadership of Lieutenants who all hail from Hong Kong, AXER also have numerous Creator Races under their belt (check out the popular PC Job "100" by Lymark).

Rounding out the top 3 worldwide racing Crews is Taiwanese Fraternity with 5,769 wins. Led by Phoenix_Kuo, TWFC maintain a Crew social page on popular Taiwanese gaming site gamer.com.tw and also are responsible for some very popular custom Races. Lieutenant Joker68ui most notably has crafted a Land Race called “刷勝場” with an amazing 4.2K plays in just a few days since being published.

Might we see an all-Asia battle for supremacy between these proud Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan based racing Crews? Time – and the global leaderboards – will tell.

THE HEIST-THEMED LUFTHANSA COLLECTIVE

Gangsters take selfies too. Lufthansa Collective Representative seb_85 incriminates himself with some Crewmates in the background.

Any fan of Goodfellas worth their salt remembers its dramatic depiction of the well-connected crew behind the infamous Lufthansa heist. Social Club's MrRuggiero recently wrote in to boast about his Lufthansa Collective (ZIPS), a roleplaying mafia Crew named after the biggest cash heist in American history.

Founded this past January, ZIPS seem to have been casing Los Santos just in time to pull off those five big scores you may have heard about. And – like budding Scorseses – they’ve been quick to document their Heist exploits cinematically as you can check out in the video below. Catch up with these friends of ours at their Crew page or at lufthansacollective.clanwebsite.com – just don’t forget your shine box.

THE ELITE SHRED BMX TEAM

Founded just shy of one year ago, the elite SHRED BMX TEAM has garnered renown as one of the most elite BMX collectives in the stunting scene. “The top BMX riders, racers and creators on PS and PC” as their official Motto states, is backed up with proof-in-the-pudding team-tages of amazing footage as seen in the video above, and Crew Leader sbmxplex has stacked SBMX to the brim and forged alliances with some of the most talented BMXers and Crews out there even boasting such legends as Freestyle BMX’s Crew Leader erasableninja and Evolve Stunting’s BMX stunting pioneer FishyDizzle. And if you’re looking for some great Creator Races, tailored and tuned specifically to be played with bikes, you’ll do well to browse the SHRED team’s collection knowing that Crew members are always making and perfecting some awesome ones together.

THE ARTFUL HEISTERS: CRAZY BLAMMERS

The Crazy Blammers (SNAP) were founded on the eve of GTA Online’s launch, September 30th 2013 and the tight-knit 18-man Crew are still going strong especially as a well-oiled machine taking down Heists together.

Crew Leader, UK-based artist Matthew Hogben aka HoggyHogben, celebrated SNAP’s criminal exploits with the fun bit of Heist Crew art seen above showing everything from their mission briefings to their fiery getaways and sky-piercing aerial maneuvers. As Hoggy states at deviantART, “The Heists on GTA Online are just amazing so I had to do some fan art for it with me and my Crew, the Crazy Blammers. Feel free to join my Crew at: http://socialclub.rockstargames.com/crew/crazy_blammers.”

FROM DEL PERRO TO SANTA MONICA WITH THE VICE CITY CRIME MOB IRL

It's always amazing to see Crews who not only bond on the streets, beaches and countrysides of southern San Andreas – but who wind up forming true friendships in real life. There are some highly-respected Crews out there known for being just as tight IRL as in GTA Online such as Hillbilly Agenda and Merryweather IMF - and now add to that list the thriving Vice City Crime Mob (VCCM). We recently gave them a recruitment nod at the Crew Noticeboard especially in light of their well-organized Heists sessions, and seeing this post and photoset at the vicegamers.com Crew website from Rep nikkievercetti will really get you in the feels:

“About a year ago I joined VCCM on PS3 (as Sabrotage) and I instantly felt very welcome and at home in this Crew. I loved playing the game and felt lucky to find myself in a community full of mature and fun players. At the time I didn't know that the game or the Crew would have such an impact on my life.

After joining I met a bunch of great people including @King Duncan [aka King_Duncan_VII] who at the time was KiddKash. Over the last year he has become my very best friend in the world. It's no secret that we're often partners in crime in the game but we also became super close in ‘real life’. I was extremely fortunate to get the opportunity to fly across the country (From Maine to California, literally across the whole country haha) to meet him last week. We hung out in the real world Los Santos of LA and had a blast.

The whole thing made me think about how insanely lucky I was to happen upon this Crew in a promotional subreddit and to become a part of this group. We may have different play styles or preferences, I may not always make it to events, but this Crew has given me several amazing and lasting friendships and provided a very necessary escape for me from real world drama and tragedy. GTA is just a video game but this crew is a family in its own way and I just wanted to make a mushy post to let you all know how grateful I am that I found it, all of you, and my best friend. Thanks for being an awesome Crew. :]”

THE FULL LEATHER JACKETS JOYRIDE WITH THE ROCKSTAR EDITOR

Longtime Social Club member berduu and members of his Full Leather Jackets captured some of that Crew magic in "Joyridin'" - a Rockstar-Editor-powered video (one of many recent fine creations from the prolific berduu aka Berdu on YouTube) documenting a beautiful day spent BMXing with FLJC, enjoying the San Andreas sunshine and the simple pleasures of stopping to smell the flowers (or pound the Piswasser as it were). As berduu puts it, "Ain't nothing like riding with your boys."

Asked & Answered: The Rockstar Editor, GTA Online Updates, PC Mods and More

Posted 2 weeks, 2 days ago | Author: R* Q | Filed Under: Social Club, Games

“The real question is: on what are we going to spend the money from the Heists? (For those who have practically everything)” – vens243
“What’s coming next [for GTA Online]…??” – Nilix
“Will there be more [Heists] added with future updates?” – carl0winer

To vens243 and others who are excited to show off their Heists spoils, beyond the many new vehicles and items that arrived to GTA Online as part of Heists, we are also working on another update coming soon that will feature some very cool new toys for you to enjoy and flaunt with your ill-gotten gains. For now, the screenshot above provides just a glimpse... For those asking for more Heists, please understand that Grand Theft Auto Online Heists were a tremendous undertaking so it’s not the sort of thing where we can easily create and publish additional Heists like other Job modes and missions. We are, however, working on other cool updates for GTA Online that you can expect over the coming months.

“I would like to use [the Rockstar Editor] but I’m on PS4. Hey Rockstar, can you do something please for PS4 players?” – Black_Pawn_01
“When’s [The Lab radio station] coming on next-gen consoles?” – GRUNSKY
“Is [The Lab radio station] ever gonna come out on PS4?” – sn3jku

The Rockstar Editor is an advanced tool requiring additional processing power so it would not be compatible with GTAV on the older systems, but we are currently working on a version tailored for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles – and we hope to release that sometime this summer, or as soon as it is ready. We are also planning to bring The Lab radio station to all four consoles in a forthcoming title update. Please stay tuned for more information.

“Will there be any more updates for [GTA Online] on Xbox 360?” – @ColtsPacersJosh

We want to support the older consoles with new content for as long as we possibly can. As we mentioned previously, we always knew there might be a point where we would reach the technical capacity of what the older generation of consoles can handle as each downloadable update requires additional memory both for assets and for additional scripting.  We have continued to optimize the entire game over time in order to squeeze as much memory as we possibly could out of the last-generation hardware and at some point, continuing to add content for those systems could cause the risk of instability to the game overall. As of now, we are planning on releasing the next big content update for all five systems and we will continue to squeeze as much as we possibly can onto them.

“Why is [Self Radio] not possible on PS3/PS4?” – Destroy_Ger
“How about creating something like that in PS4/3 and Xbox platforms?” – Osprey11
“Can you put this on PS4 or Xbox 1 at least?” – RayzRBlayde1229

The GTAV PC Self Radio experience that plays your personally curated playlist of mp3s in the game as a fully featured and properly integrated radio station just wouldn’t technically be possible on the consoles as it requires more than the consoles allow at this time.

“I’m having soo much fun with GTAV on the PC but I just have one question about it, how come you are not allowing mods for it?” - @ClarkMatthew63
“Will I get banned from GTA Online for using a FoV Mod or Oculus Rift mod?” - @Mattophobia

We have always appreciated the creative efforts of the PC modding community and we still fondly remember the awesome zombie invasion mod and original GTA map mod for GTAIV PC among many other classics. To be clear, the modding policy in our license has not changed and is the same as for GTAIV.  Recent updates to GTAV PC had an unintended effect of making unplayable certain single player modifications. This was not intentional, no one has been banned for using single player modifications, and you should not worry about being banned or being relegated to the cheater pool just for using single player PC mods. Our primary focus is on protecting GTA Online against modifications that could give players an unfair advantage, disrupt gameplay, or cause griefing. It also bears mentioning that because game mods are by definition unauthorized, they may be broken by technical updates, cause instability, or affect your game in other unforeseen ways.

“We want to play GTAV with joystick. Will you add joystick support for PC? There is a huge difference between gamepad and JS.” – @eniyikotuadam
“Just wondering if there’s a possibility of including joystick support for GTAV in any upcoming patches or updates?” – received via Mouthoff
“Rockstar friends, GTAV PC version would be significantly enhanced if players could use their steering wheels.” – received via Mouthoff

Thank you for the feedback! We understand that many PC players out there would like to see enhanced peripheral support for specialized controllers such as flight sim joysticks and steering wheels. No promises, but it is something we are investigating to see if possible in a future update.

“Can I play GTAV on my Mac?” – received via Mouthoff
“Why this game isn’t [available for] Mac?” – Jaalloav

While GTAV isn’t technically released for Mac, you can actually play the PC version on a Mac by running Windows 7 or 8 through Boot Camp. You can find instructions along with some other requirements over at Rockstar Support.

“Hi Rockstar! Please report these guys on YouTube who destroy your game. Look at all the cheats they promote in their videos… I’d be grateful for answers on what you plan to do with about this?” – Aleek94
“Okay, so I've let this slip under the carpet, but now I'm really starting to get pissed off with the whole situation. I can accept people grinding Capture or Rooftop Rumble, what I can't get over is the amount of people doing money and RP glitches, and the YouTubers who are feeding the community with them... I suggest you take action on the YouTubers who are promoting these glitches… they need dealing with, because they're the ones starting to destroy GTA Online...” – ilewisgta

We are tremendous fans of the vast majority of YouTube content that fans post using footage from our games – everything from original machinima movies to funny gameplay moments to hypnotizing time-lapses and so much more – but we obviously do not support or condone any videos that attempt to instruct people how to cheat their way towards illegitimate RP, counterfeit GTA$, duping vehicles without having earned them and other things along those lines that compromise the fairness of the game’s ranking and economy systems. We have a long-standing policy on posting copyrighted Rockstar Games material over at the Rockstar Support website, and to make things clearer on this front, we’ve just added a bulletpoint about this particular type of content there. Just like our other long-standing rules about not posting pre-release leaked footage, spoilers or entire in-game television content episodes – anyone who posts videos that encourage and promote ways to cheat your way towards gaining illegitimate RP or counterfeit in-game money or duplicating in-game items without having earned them may have their videos flagged for takedown with YouTube. Thank you again to everyone in the community (and especially the hardworking and creative GTA YouTube community!) for helping to bring this matter to our attention. Thanks also to everyone in the community for your ongoing efforts since the launch of GTA Online in reporting glitches, bugs and exploits to us via the Support website – it’s invaluable information that helps inform fixes in Title Updates and via dynamic tuning to help keep GTA Online as fair as possible for everyone.

“Are you guys doing anything to fix godmode/invisibility and unlimited ammo [in GTA Online]?” - @TacticalTaco5

Absolutely. We have always taken this issue very seriously and have people dedicated to addressing these problems when they arise. Unfortunately even a tiny minority of people cheating can have a negative impact on a larger population. In addition, solving this problem requires a different approach on each platform. We have been regularly rolling out fixes for specific exploits and tools to enable us to combat cheating with each patch and we are going to continue to do so. While it’s unrealistic to say we can solve the problem of cheating forever and for everyone, we believe we are making significant progress on this issue and we will continue to work aggressively to stop these griefers in their tracks as best we can.

GTAV PC Fan Videos: More Prime Cuts from the Rockstar Editor

Posted 2 weeks, 2 days ago | Author: R* Q | Filed Under: Social Club, Games

We continue to see lots of impressive work by GTAV PC filmmakers with the Rockstar Editor. In addition to taking advantage of the Editor's robust suite of tools, some machinamists are even layering their own artistic flourish on top of their videos to give birth to some uniquely captivating creations. Here's a new round-up of videos that have caught our eye recently:

A World Of Possibilities created by The XXI

On our radar ever since the impressive 'Los Santos By Night', The XXI shows off just some of what's possible with the Rockstar Editor (along with his own, original and stylish retro 80's inspired custom text treatments).

GTA V - Super Clown by Boris the Blade

Thanks to a haunting score and some impressive cinematography, the maniacal actions of a super-powered, homicidal clown never looked so beautiful.

Trevor's Perfume by GTA Series Videos

Prolific video creators GTA Series Videos once again put the Editor through its paces - this time with a mock advert for a fragrance that's oh-so-Trevor. Featuring an operatic score, a monochrome filter and a sublimely spectacular cliff dive in elegant slow motion, this video evokes all the classic fragrance commercial clichés.

Hard Cash 2015 - GTAV Song by miracleofsound and DanzNewz

A collaboration between musician Gavin Dunne and YouTuber Danz Newz yields this well-executed tale of everybody's favorite mid-life crisis criminal. Even Mikey likes it...

WANTED created by RisingJake

RisingJake pumps up the action in this narrative-driven video of a criminal you don’t want to mess with. Leading off with a parachute drop that heads straight into a speedy police chase, peppered with fantastic mid-air slow-mos, it moves on from there to an epic jump from a Luxor jet and finishes with a smooth landing and one final incident ... all done with serious cool.

TREVOR Vs. APE MUTANT (Superman Vs. Batman Parody) by Tara Arts Game: Set to the audio from the recent Batman vs. Superman trailer, this creation from Tara Arts teases the potential showdown between two beasts - Trevor and the enigmatic Ape Mutant.

Hi, I'm Trevor Philips. Welcome to Jackass by Abstract Mode: Fans of MTV's sophomoric stunt show should appreciate this homage, which features Sandy Shores' most-renowned Jackass taking his antics from the streets of Los Santos to the hills of Blaine County.

GTAV Map by miniwiSatN: Starting from the foyer of Michael's Rockford Hills home, this brief clip features some glorious views of Southern San Andreas - capturing everything from the mountain tops of Blaine County to the depths of the Zancudo River.

Reflections by Incredible91852Previously recognized Snapmatic photographer and video creator Incredible91852’s latest work shows off many of Los Santos and Blaine County's most dazzling reflections - pulsing neon lights, the ripples of the Salton sea, and all the reflective glory of a chrome Truffade Adder.

Rockstar Video Editor: The First Days

Posted 4 weeks, 1 day ago | Author: R* M | Filed Under: Social Club, Games

We've been enjoying the first videos created by GTAV PC players around the globe with the new Rockstar Editor this past week, and a few directors have already come to grips with the deep suite of features including blends, slow-motion, music effects and more. Some YouTubers are even using the Rockstar Editor's tools in conjunction with their own to explore new possibilities and take their channel videos to the next level. Check out some of our favorites below:

GTA 5 - V.I.S.I.T.O.R.S. [Rockstar Editor Fan Trailer] by GTA Series Videos

For their first endeavor with the GTAV PC editor, the group over at GTA Series Videos looked to a classic GTA trailer for inspiration. Replacing the stoically strolling Niko Bellic with GTAV's Michael, Trevor and Franklin, we see a similar trek made through the streets of Los Santos and Blaine County with a few NPC cameos dropped in for good measure.

Grand Theft Auto V | Los Santos & Blaine County - Fan Trailer (PC) by RageDev

Syncing up a lively music track with complimentary scene-by-scene cuts, RageDev captures the look and feel of an action-packed day in Los Santos. Mixing in the busy sights and sounds of the city to contrast against quieter moments afforded by the great outdoors and open horizon, this trailer seems to cover all the bases.

The Thief by Houratronic

This phenomenal effort from YouTuber Houratronic was posted within hours of the game going live and is certainly among the most accomplished videos we've seen so far. Houratronic has used every tool in the arsenal to turn a simple idea into a cinematic gem. Watch for consistent use of blends to add movement to the driving sequences, just the right amount of slo-mo, appreciation of sound levels to adjust music intensity at the right times, a few handheld effects and a clean, definitive conclusion.

The PC Police Chase by Rechyyy

Even if you're not familiar with his previous work, from the opening seconds it's clear that Rechyyy has a keen sense of cinematic language and key concepts, such as editing to music, establishing shots and instant action. Cut neatly to a pounding industrial rock backing track, we see Franklin evade cops through the Raton Canyon before a Thelma and Louise style ending and fade to black.

Sunday Drifting by GTA Wise Guy

Also no stranger to the Rockstar Newswire, GTA Wise Guy showcases a cop evasion master class employing a very different set of driving skills. The panache and audacity of his drifting talents is matched by the confidence to throw in overheads and full-on crotch shots into this drifting showcase.

The Epic Stand-Off by Domestic Mango

While rampages through Downtown Los Santos have been par for the course in the opening few days of the Rockstar Editor, Domestic Mango executes this particular interpretation with stylish flair. Focusing on small details such as a grenade getting lodged under a cop car's wheel, or an officer’s face as he flies through the air, it adds moments of understated cool to a chaotic sequence.

ALSO CHECK OUT:

Barbara Schwartzburger by Melonium: Captured using Director Mode, Melonium's film is everything at once: slapdash yet stylish, asinine but amazing. Judging by the Social Club comments, we're not the only ones looking forward to the future adventures of Ms. Schwartzburger.

Garage by Renaton: "Man goes for walk up and down garage" doesn't sound like much when written out, but Renaton combines it with an array of blends, visual effects and a badass Declasse Tornado to create the perfect introduction to a lovely orange clad GTA Online vehicle collection.

Michael's Car Fantasy by Tyrranicon: The synth is cranked up to the max in this 80s throwback montage that takes place entirely within Michael's head. From the pulsing beats to the neon lights, this electro sequence is a retro tableau.

Director Demo by SGTJackCott: Described as a "demo" this contains more than enough cool ideas to be defined as a completed video in its own right. We're looking forward to seeing more from SGTJackColt, particularly his ability to find the perfect song to set the scene.

Grand Theft Auto V - Nope! by Rusty Recoil: Against the backdrop of a glorious sunset, Franklin takes a ride down the scenic slopes to Los Santos and through the Vinewood sign before meeting a slightly sticky end.
