These vehicles will be permanently available to acquire and keep.

CHRISTMAS DAY GIFTS
On Christmas Day, December 25th, as you’re relaxing in your Los Santos apartment beside your Christmas tree, make sure to check your inventory for a few extra gifts.

SET OFF SOME NEW YEAR’S FIREWORKS
Ring in the New Year with a bang – the Firework Launcher and Firework rocket ammo are coming back and will be available to acquire and use from Christmas Eve until Monday, January 5th. You can score one for free on four special days: Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day.

Asked & Answered: GTAV First Person Experience, Online Heists and Much More

Posted 3 days, 5 hours ago | Author: R* Q | Filed Under: Social Club, Games

In the time since Grand Theft Auto V's release on new generation platforms, we've received lots of questions from the community about what is in store for the future, including the highly anticipated launch of Online Heists, which was discussed in yesterday's IGN interview. Today, we've got a special Asked & Answered that addresses this and many other frequently asked questions we've seen recently. If you've got a question for us, as always, feel free to hit us up at mouthoff@rockstargames.com and we'll do our best to provide you an answer if we can – and maybe even address your question in the future here at the Newswire.

“Are you only doing first person games now? I have always loved Rockstar Games partly because they are third person games.” – Allen (via Mouthoff)

Absolutely not! We are excited by the response to our first effort at a first person experience, but remain committed to third person games and may or may not use first person as a camera option in the future. We do like to, whenever possible, give people options so they can play a game the way they like.

“To the people at Rockstar Games, could you guys please bring First Person to PS3 / Xbox 360?” – Brandon (via Mouthoff)
“Why just have First Person on next-generation, why not on the other consoles? Could [you] add it to PS3 and Xbox [360] please?” - @DawsonSunderlan

As we’d mentioned in our recent interview with IGN, First Person Mode is a new feature that is only technically possible for us to add to the game with the expanded memory that the new generation platforms provide. There are thousands of new animations added to the game to facilitate First Person Mode, which would have been impossible to do on the previous generation of consoles without seriously compromising the game in some other capacity.

“What is the point of Shark Cards, apart from to make you greedy bastards lots of money?” – Tim (via Mouthoff)

The reason we included optional in-game currency in Grand Theft Auto Online, rather than directly selling DLC, was because it was the only way that we could distribute DLC without dividing the player base each time we brought out a new content pack, which would destroy the online community very quickly by splitting players up. Thanks to Shark Cards, we have been able to give away every piece of DLC so far for free in order to keep the community whole and give people options as to whether they want to earn new content by playing the game, buy new content with Shark Cards or simply don’t get new content and still keep playing the game.

“What is the #GTAOnline Heist official release date?” - @iCrazyTeddy
“Why are Heists taking so long?” – Donny (via Mouthoff)

We aren’t ready to give an official release date yet, but we are confident they will be ready early in 2015. As you may have read on IGN, Heists were a much bigger challenge to create than we had originally anticipated. Early versions were simply not good enough and had to be scrapped more than once as we honed in on how we thought they should work. We’re happy to say that the pack we are now finalizing is something we are excited by and eager to release as soon as it is ready. We, as a company, have always been about trying to make something that is good rather than hitting a date. We apologize when this gets frustrating but firmly believe that rushing out second-rate content does not do anyone any favors. Hopefully you agree that yesterday’s new Trailer is a sign that Heists are shaping up nicely, but we still need some time to fine tune them. Because we need a little time to get Heists right, we are going to give you a small Christmas gift to keep you entertained until we are done with them.
In the meantime, here are a couple of cool new screenshots to whet your appetite…

Tight coordination and teamwork will be necessary to fight your way to a big score.

Tools of the trade. There will be new vehicles including the armored Karin Kuruma.

“Are Heists only for Xbox One and PS4?” – IG:dodger_blue_ant

As previously confirmed, GTA Online Heists will be available to play on all four consoles: PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One – as well as for the PC.

“Now that you have GTAV out for next gen consoles, are you going to forget about the rest of us?” - @BlackWolf468

Hi BlackWolf, certainly not as players on PS3 and Xbox 360 can look forward to Online Heists and other updates that are in the works coming soon. We are incredibly thankful to our original generation of GTAV and GTA Online players on those systems and wish to continue providing content to them for as long as we can. Of course, at some point in the future, there may be a point where we reach the limits for the previous generation of consoles as there may be some updates that are only technically possible on the new hardware – but we do hope to continue delivering as many updates as we can for all four consoles for as long as possible.

“Will you add snow to #GTAV this winter again? I missed it last time. Would be awesome: P” - @zaetayo
“You guys gonna do an Xmas theme for GTAV again?” - @Ryan_Heda

We prefer to keep such things as a surprise, but without giving away any details (no peeking under the tree!), we can say that we do have a few seasonal treats in the works for players on all four systems to enjoy this coming holiday season in GTA Online. Look for details on that very soon.

“Hi, please would it be possible to add or patch the ability to leave your car engine running when leaving a vehicle into the game?” – Martin (via Mouthoff)
“Why are there no animals in GTA Online?” - @joeny33
“Will the casino ever be available to us players to gamble our hard earned GTA dollars?” - @TheGamer4_G
“Grand Theft Auto next-gen is almost the perfect game in my humble opinion… However I do have one suggestion, I would LOVE to see a Texas hold ‘em and/or Blackjack mini-game… I would love to have the chance to gamble with my GTA dollars against AI and other players around the word. It would add yet another activity in the vast world that has already been created. Yours sincerely, a loyal fan.” – Scott (via Mouthoff)

We know that there is a never-ending community wish list for new content to be added to Grand Theft Auto Online. Not only do we truly appreciate that, as we’ve always said that the evolving world of GTA Online is as much yours (the players and residents of Los Santos and Blaine County) as it is ours – but we also need it and rely on it. Please keep your most wanted new features, updates, changes and tweaks coming via email to our official inbox at GTAOnline@rockstargames.com; we are constantly checking this feedback for ways that we can improve the game. To date, your feedback sent there has been invaluable in helping shape the game to what it is so far, and we look forward to the collaboration continuing strong in 2015 and beyond.

“Can PS4 players play GTA Online with PS3 players?” – IG:evil_gamer505

We absolutely love being able to push the boundaries of what can be done in a dynamic online world like GTA Online, but certain things are not technically possible right now and this is one of them. Unfortunately, there is no technical way that we could enable players to play in the same lobby with one another across different types or generations of game consoles. It is also impossible to enable PC players to join console-based lobbies.

“After the #GTAV reboot, how about a #RDR reboot?” - @SlyFoxC
“#GTAV on #XboxOne is seriously the pinnacle of awesomeness mountain. Now can we please get a Red Dead sequel please @RockstarGames?” - @FRYMANATION
“So if you’re going to keep making GTA, why not keep making Red Dead Redemption?” - @Austin_Lawson32

It’s wonderful to see so much excitement and enthusiasm for the Red Dead series, and nearly 5 years after Red Dead Redemption’s release(!). As we’ve mentioned when asked in the past about new games in other series such as Red Dead Redemption, Bully and L.A. Noire, we don’t always rush to make sequels, but that does not mean we won’t get to them eventually. We have so many games we want to make and the issue is always one of bandwidth and timing. We thank longtime fans such as yourselves as always for your amazing support and please stay tuned in 2015 for announcements of what’s to come from Rockstar Games.

“I was wondering if I could also [transfer] my [GTA Online characters and progress] from Xbox 360 to PC? Because I had a lot of nice cars on my Xbox 360 but I want to play on my PC, not start over to get all my cars. Is that possible?” – Luuk (via Mouthoff)
“Hello, wanted to ask about Online character progress transfer. I read on your Support site that it can be done only once. So my question is, I have a level 200 character on my PS3, I want to buy the PC version but think Santa might bring me the PS4 version. If I transfer my character to PS4, does that mean I am not allowed to transfer to PS3 character to the PC version when it ships next month?” – Tommy (via Mouthoff)

Not to worry, you will be able to transfer your Online characters and progress from any of the four consoles (PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 or Xbox One) to the PC platform. To be clear, if you transfer or have already transferred your progress from PS3 or Xbox 360 to either PS4 or Xbox One, then you will still be able to do another transfer again from PS4 or Xbox One to PC. We have updated the detailed transfer information article at Rockstar Support to account for this.

“Dear friends at Rockstar, I would like to know what’s going on Grand Theft Auto V for PC…” – Alli (via Mouthoff)

Hi Alli, we’re presently in the final stages of development on the PC version of Grand Theft Auto V and hope to have confirmed official system requirements to share soon here at the Newswire, please stay tuned for that to be announced in the coming week. Thank you and we’re very excited to bring GTAV to the PC gaming community!

Picturesque Profiles, Interior Decor and More Captivating Snapmatic Photography from GTAV on PS4 & Xbox One

The Snapmatic photogs masterfully cataloging life in Los Santos and Blaine County continue to wow us with their work on these new platforms. Check out a new gallery below featuring some of our favorite shots, from veterans and newcomers alike.

A rusty Tornado rests on the dock at Lago Zancudo. Taken by colognemitch

Kokonitos does an excellent job here of capturing the colorful flora residing in Paleto Cove.

A subtle application of shadow and light creates this intimate and candid portrait. Taken by Kokonitos

Trevor's idea of interior design leaves much to be desired. This shot by ProVelvet, however, does not.

The Tivoli Cinema box office seems like an unlikely display case for a Shitzu Hakuchou, nevertheless quaid86 makes it work rather nicely.

oO-GTA-FREAK-Oo focuses in on the rear emblems of this stunning Grotti Turismo R.

Auryn_ dubbed this one "Heaven is a Halfpipe" when it was posted in the Newswire comments of a previous Snapmatic gallery.

If you're always in a rush you may miss these captivating geode crystals Franklin's aunt Denise has throughout the Clinton residence. Taken by ProVelvet

ChaosZake captures the really cool effect of a silhouette against a nearly shattered windshield.

LambentBunny seemed to be in the right place at the right time to frame this painted on quality scene in the Paleto Forest.

After a long day in Los Santos, we imagine SadCrazyman enjoys a sip of this fine port in his West Winewood (er.. Vinewood) apartment.

This ominous looking shot by former Snapmatic Contest winner ZazDillinger is simply titled, "Promising".

MrTohoto captures this biker popping a front wheelie... with flare.

We're not entirely sure how these Blaine County locals made their way to Vespucci Beach but they seem to enjoy soaking up the sun and sand, just the same. Taken by Banjabi

quaid86 went for a slightly unconventional approach here, creating a cool and nearly seamless two paneled shot.

Still Lifes, Car Shows and More Amazing Snapmatics from GTAV on PS4 & Xbox One

Posted 2 weeks, 3 days ago | Author: R* Y | Filed Under: Social Club, Games

We continue to be amazed by the deluge of impressive Snapmatic shots pouring in to the GTAV section of the Social Club. The community continues to outdo themselves with these picturesque shots taken on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Scroll down the page for a sampling of spectacular images that include unique perspectives and fresh takes on some familiar locales.

In the two shots above Deltakeks captures an old-timey nautical vibe in the area appropriately dubbed "Catfish View".

s_morrison95 snapped this precocious looking black pug preparing for a daily jog with his owner.

HandsomeHustlerr's Imponte Dukes is all ready for the car show in the cheekily titled, "Open For Business".

Some Snapmatic photos have an almost postcard-like quality to them, this one from LambentBunny fits the bill.

BLK95TA uses the new red underglow vehicle mod and a custom plate to really drive home the nostalgia.

There's a familiar, gritty, 80's film noir feeling to this excellent studio backlot shot in Downtown Vinewood. Taken by JimnyCGRL.

SilverFox1 presents us with an excellent close-up view of Franklin's turntables.

Stunning rays of sunlight spill across the front window and dashboard as this Hotknife pulls onto Innocence Boulevard. Taken by Banjabi.

Deltakeks' topless Invetero Coquette Classic convertible idles comfortably on the grass in a Vinewood Hills park.

We get the sneaking suspicion that lethal138... of the Hells Angels America Crew isn't signaling "you're number one" to rival MCs in this shot.

IVY_JO3 shows off an array of color choices at the starting line in this pic, with an up-close on an emerald green Shitzu Hakuchou.

HandsomeHustlerr continues with his "open" treatments - here it's a jet black Declasse Stallion.

Out for a casual Sunday drive or perhaps something more perilous? The passenger's bandanna says it all. Taken by R1CHIEC.

A modern customized take on a classic whip, at the Burton based LS Customs. Bonus points for SilverFox1's custom plate.

WetworkMerc's simple application of a soft black and white filter makes this subtle scene fit for framing.

This Vapid Hotknife glides through the air in Rockford Hills. Taken by colognemitch.

DTizMusiK utilizes the in-game meme options to create a perfect still frame for his favorite YouTube music channel.

A beautiful all around shot by kingcozzie, but check out the detail in the cracked earth's mirror reflection off the hood.

Officially, this was taken on the coast near Tongva Hills by LambentBunny but if you squint your eyes just a bit it feels like the perfect "wish you were here" sentiment from the Ocean View Hotel in Vice City.

The highly detailed contrast of the foliage here against the seemingly painted on silhouette of the LS skyline really caught our eye. Taken by kingcozzie

Deltakeks goes out of his way to show that there's more than just roaming sharks cutting their top fins through the choppy waters of the Pacific.

up-daz's pristine, white-walled Bravado Buffalo looks rather comfortable nestled in amongst the reeds here.

Has R1CHIEC captured an intimate exchange here or simply given us a sneak preview of the latest shot for a Le Chien high-end fragrance ad?

Chrome finish may not feel like the appropriate selection for every vehicle class but it's an absolute match for this Truffade Z-Type. Taken by Yanochkina

Violate You Get It Crew Leader Black Shogun utilizes a bit of forced perspective to get his point across.

HairyHole is living the "HIGHLIFE" with the custom license plate earned in the High Life Snapmatic Contest back in May.

We'd be highly interested to find out where exactly in East Vinewood ChaosZake took this excellent shot of a 9F Cabrio reflecting off the glass in front of an onlooker.

quaid86 captured this rather candid shot of a LS Custom's mechanic servicing a fierce looking Shitzu Hakuchou.

The bold application of red, running adjacent to the mysterious IAA building makes this one taken by cyfly030 particularly striking.

Snapmatic Contest Winners: #TrickOrTreat and #GTASanAndreas

Posted on November 8 2014, 12:27pm | Author: R* L | Filed Under: Social Club, Games

Presenting the winners of our most recent official Snapmatic photo contests, held over the past two weekends in celebration of Halloween and of the 10th anniversary of GTA San Andreas, respectively. Awesomely creative work as always from the Snapmatic photographer community and we can’t wait to see what you guys get up to with increased resolution in the next generation and with 30-player lobbies, First Person Mode and other new features of the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC versions that are around the corner. Look for a special PS4 and Xbox One edition Snapmatic contest on launch weekend to help celebrate that release and for now enjoy these fantastic and fun #TrickOrTreat and #GTASanAndreas winning shots which have each scored their creators a cool GTA$1M award and scored the San Andreas photogs a prize pack of S.A. collectibles as well.

#TRICKORTREAT SNAPMATIC WINNERS

The first of a few classic horror movie tributes is repdek_2's "Michael Myers" with masterful use of the meme creator to weave an illustration of The Shape. An honorable mention also goes out to HairyHole's well-done (and top voted) meme creator horror tribute poster for The Walking Dead.

"They're creepy and they're kooky..." A very cleverly orchestrated Addams Family portrait by heathyboy94. Great work in dressing up the whole crew as Gomez, Morticia, Pugsley, Wednesday, Uncle Fester and Lurch in front of an appropriately gothic manse at “Mount Gordo”– with classic B&W TV filtering to boot.

"Christine" rides again in UglyAssTurtle's fiery tribute to the sentient and malevolent titular Classic ride.

Turismo Halloween Edition
chriz_1 put in some work both at Los Santos Customs and with some inventive meme creator tricks to turn his "Turismo Halloween Edition" carriage into a pumpkin.

Happy Halloween!!
One of the early entries into the #TrickOrTreat contest was this fun photo shoot by CaPn-bOnEs entitled "Happy Halloween!!" of the iGrandTheftAuto Crew going trick or treating.

Honorable Mentions...

• “Chi Chi Chi…. Ha Ha Ha” by Davo00420 – shot on location at Camp Crystal Lake.

• The glowing, haunting "TT2" by Silver Fox1.

"Pillbox Hill" by sungokatana - a simple and spooky skeletal snap using "no memes, just filters".

#GTASANANDREAS SNAPMATIC WINNERS

imsohood_lum's "Rochelle - GTASan Andreas" is a stellar re-creation of the signature Vinewood Chick artwork from San Andreas that has deservedly received quite a bit of love from the community. Editor’s note: While that artwork is not actually based on the ‘Rochell’le’ character mentioned at westcoastraplegends.com, it’s pretty fun to see how fans have envisioned her as being Madd Dogg’s one-time protégé and paramour.

Follow the damn train, CJ!
If you're going to reference one of the most memorable missions (and popular memes) from San Andreas, it better be on point. Pre233's "Follow the Damn Train CJ," based on the Wrong Side of the Tracks mission with CJ and Big Smoke, passes with flying colors and then some.

Welcome back
Classic. Tharnuk is clearly detail-oriented - even going so far as to use the meme creator to simulate as close as possible the original heads-up display from GTA San Andreas. Entitled "Welcome Back" as a nod to the first few steps everyone took playing the game's first mission.

SUN GRIND
Looks like CJ's still got it in him. The sky's the limit in "Sun Grind" by SilverFox1, capturing some serious air on a BMX and framed in beautiful natural light.

San Andreas Gang Warfare #1
"San Andreas Gang Warfare #1." Taken by Bjodjus_LXG, this photo is a nostalgic depiction of the original Los Santos family feud between GSF and the Ballas.

Honorable Mentions...

• "After ten years... it's time to come back". 0lucaspc holds a candle for CJ and company in "Brouge Avenue", a dramatic B&W that gets you right in the feels.

• The "Truth" is... well right here. Fantastic bullet art courtesy of sicaro12.

• "San Andreas Throwback - KDST Flyer Card" by that_VIP_guy takes K-DST's radio promotion to new heights.

• "I'll have two #9's..." You know the rest. AlexSniperBullet gets Big Smoke and the gang back together for one last drive-by "Drive-Thru".

Double GTA$ & Double RP for All Deathmatches this Halloween Weekend

Posted on October 31 2014, 2:05pm | Author: R* M | Filed Under: Social Club, Games

Fresh off the heels of last weekend's San Andreas Anniversary celebration in GTA Online, we've got three more days of in-game bonuses and more to take advantage of this Halloween weekend starting today Friday, October 31st.

In ghoulish fashion, all Deathmatches will reward players with Double RP and Double GTA$ all weekend long – including Rockstar Created, Rockstar Verified and all player-created Deathmatch Jobs. The inhabitants of Los Santos will also be out causing mischief in Freemode and gathering treats along the way from Crate Drops including Firework Launchers, exclusive T-shirts and more. We've also got the #TrickOrTreat Snapmatic contest in effect so go all out on your weekend costumes with half price discounts on Masks and select Hats, as well as 50% off orange tints and smoke trails to aid you in capturing the Halloween spirit. Read on for full details.

DOUBLE GTA$ & DOUBLE RP FOR ALL DEATHMATCHES

Frightful GTA Online encounters are guaranteed with Double RP and Double GTA$ in all Deathmatches, all weekend long. Aim for the pumpkin to max out the headshot RP bonus, or seek out a dark corner of the map to plot your ghoulish intentions.

TREATS INSIDE EVERY SPECIAL CRATE DROP

Keep watching the skies! This weekend only, rare vintage GTA T-shirts will be available in Special Crate Drops, with a different shirt available to collect each day of the weekend:

  • Friday - Flash FM
  • Saturday - Bobo
  • Sunday - Fever 105 FM

There'll also be Firework Launchers, Miniguns and an abundant cache of RP, GTA$ and ammo. We've upped the frequency of the Special Crate Drops in every Freemode session - keep an eye on your Feed ticker to find out when they're coming down and look for the Smugglers plane on the map so that you can track the landing spot of the Crate itself, but be warned: You are not alone.

HALF PRICE DISCOUNTS ON HALLOWEEN THEMED GOODIES

To get you into further frightful festivities, you'll also need a costume worthy of playing the part. Vespucci Beach Mask Shop offers an array of accessories and freaky faces to complete your outlandish outfit. This weekend, you'll be able to purchase all masks and hats at half-price and we've also discounted orange weapon tints, orange parachute smoke and orange tire smoke. Finally, in case anyone tries to steal your ride, grab a half-price ignition bomb for a special Halloween trick.

75% DISCOUNT OFF THE RADAR

All Hallows Eve can play tricks on the mind - fool your enemies into doubting their senses with 75% off Lester's Off the Radar service. Go ghost, and use it to get the jump on any goblins looking to ruin your day.

HALLOWEEN SNAPMATIC CONTEST - #TRICKORTREAT

Once you're fully decked out in your most creative outfit, hit the sidewalks and alleyways to put on a full-on freakshow. Capture your best Halloween-themed shot with Snapmatic, tag it with #TrickOrTreat on Social Club and you could have your pic featured at the Rockstar Newswire, not to mention a treat of GTA$1M. Official Rules here.

HALLOWEEN SPECIAL LIVESTREAM

Ever since we announced Grand Theft Auto V on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, some of you have been asking if there will be anything extra for those PS3 and Xbox 360 players who are planning on picking up the new versions. To reward loyal GTAV fans for coming back to the newer, more detailed version of Los Santos and Blaine County, we've created an array of exclusive items specifically for these players - with each of them connected to activities designed for you to experience the game's massive world in new and exciting ways. Here are some of the new items and activities that will be available for returning players:

The Dodo seaplane: It may take a little firepower to get your hands on this highly versatile GTA classic.

New Events & Rewards
Encounter new events happening all across the world, and complete the challenges they present to unlock exclusive new vehicles like the menacing Imponte Duke O’Death and that veritable GTA classic bird of flight, the Dodo seaplane.

The Imponte Duke O'Death: As you might expect, when you first stumble upon this near-indestructible mayhem machine, trouble will follow. Deal with it judiciously and this beauty’s all yours.

Murder Mystery
As Michael, follow a trail of cryptic clues to unravel a grisly murder mystery.  Put the clues together and you'll unlock two Noir Style Filters, which will give your Story Mode gameplay and Snapmatic photos the feel of a gritty old school crime classic.

Get to the bottom of a murder mystery that strikes right at the heart of Los Santos' most cherished industry.

Weapons: The Rail Gun & Hatchet
Obliterate your adversaries with the high-powered, high-velocity Rail Gun. This piece of experimental military technology also has its own set of Shooting Range Challenges at your local Ammu-Nation shooting range. Or hack and slash foes up close and personal with the brutal Hatchet melee weapon.

The futuristic new Rail Gun unloads powerful rounds of explosive ammunition upon foes.

Wildlife Photography Challenge
There are new species of animals across Los Santos and Blaine County, and the LS Tourist Board needs someone to document them. As Franklin, catalog unique animal species scattered across the map to unlock the special Kraken Sub.

Completing the Wildlife Photography Challenge will unlock the Kraken Sub.

Stock Car Races
Win a series of new Stock Car Races to earn unique custom Muscle Cars adorned with logos from some of the companies that made this country great.

Finish first in the new Stock Car Races to earn new Muscle Cars.

Monkey Mosaics
A mysterious street artist is tagging walls all across town with his simian-inspired silhouettes. Track down and photograph them all to earn new monkey outfits (available to all players) and a special Go Go Monkey Blista exclusively for returning players.

Take to the skies in the faster and more maneuverable Xero Blimp.

New Vehicles and More
Grind up the Los Santos freeways (and over anybody in your path) with the Cheval Marshall monster truck and take to the skies in a faster and more maneuverable Blimp, compliments of Xero Gas.

There will also be a bounty of content for all players, new and returning, to discover - including a fleet of classic GTA vehicles and a few more surprises we've got planned that you’ll have to discover for yourself come game day. And as previously announced, current GTA Online players on PS3 and Xbox 360 will be able to pick up where they left off, transferring their characters and progression seamlessly to their choice of PlayStation 4, Xbox One or PC (Social Club membership required).

Few objects are an obstacle for the intimidating Cheval Marshall.

In addition, anyone who pre-orders the game will receive a bonus of GTA$1M ($500k for Story Mode and $500k for use in Grand Theft Auto Online). After the jump, you can also check out a few answers to some of the more frequently asked questions we’ve seen from players about transferring their game to the new platforms.
