Manhunt Coming to PSN Next Week

Posted 1 week, 2 days ago | Author: R* Q | Filed Under: Games

Next week, the roster of downloadable Rockstar titles in the PS2 Classics collection at PlayStation Store is set to get bigger - and grislier - with the addition of Rockstar North's dark stealth thriller Manhunt, originally released 10 years ago. Beginning on May 14th Tuesday when the PSN Store does its weekly update (Wednesday for those in Europe), you'll be able to step back into the shoes of James Earl Cash, a Death Row inmate playing that most dangerous game of kill-or-be-killed at the mercy of the maniacal Lionel Starkweather.

Manhunt will be available from PSN for $9.99 / €9.99 / £7.99 and joins Bully and Red Dead Revolver, as well as all PlayStation 2 entries in the Grand Theft Auto and Midnight Club franchises, in the PS2 Classics category of PlayStation Store.

It will also soon be joined by The Warriors - stay tuned, Boppers...

For now, enjoy the original Manhunt trailers released in the summer of 2003 below - and special thanks to longtime fansite Project Manhunt.

Worldwide Grand Theft Auto V Previews

Posted 2 weeks, 2 days ago | Author: R* Q | Filed Under: Games

Earlier this week, you got the opportunity to get better acquainted with the trio of MichaelFranklin and Trevor via our triple set of brand new Grand Theft Auto V trailers.
Today, gaming sites worldwide that recently saw the game firsthand are providing their insights, impressions and new details including...

Los Santos and Blaine County:
Our largest open world yet - by far - and spanning vastly diverse cultural and geographical areas, the entire world of Grand Theft Auto V is open from the very beginning of the game to explore. Visitors to the greater metropolis of Los Santos and the countryside of Blaine County will encounter faded celebrities, meth heads, party people, violent gangs, hikers, bikers and every other manner of colorful denizen. You'll be able to traverse everywhere from the tops of the mountains, through the streets of Los Santos and to the depths of the ocean floor. Below is an excerpt from The Telegraph about their first view of the game's world:

"A helicopter hovers gently in the midday sun, the whumph of its rotor-blades blending into an ambient, dream-like score. A man stands in the open fuselage of the chopper, peering down on a vast expanse of dusty wilderness. Countless dirt tracks wriggling through green hills like snakes. Mountain peaks looming over the brush. The sea stretching out to a beautiful cerulean horizon. As far as the eye can see; a detailed, enormous, bewildering landscape.

This is Blaine County, a vast scrubland just outside of the fictional west coast city of Los Santos, a garish, hyperactive pastiche of Los Angeles, California... We were told Grand Theft Auto V was going to be big --purportedly enough virtual acreage to fit in the maps of Red Dead Redemption, GTAIV and GTA: San Andreas-- but being told doesn’t quite prepare you for the sheer scale of the thing. And this is a just a small chunk of brushland, a speck on a map that, for the first time in the series, is completely open to you from the very beginning."

Michael, Franklin and Trevor:
Three playable protagonists - Michael, Franklin and Trevor may live in different parts of town, have their own issues, attitudes, lifestyles, desires and goals - but they do know how to work together. They also each have their own unique skillsets to bring to the table when it's time to get the job done. From Destructoid's piece 'Grand Theft Auto V: Everything is Bigger and Better':

"It's important to note that the gameplay never stops while you're switching characters. You'll jump into whoever you've selected even if they're in the middle of driving a vehicle. All three characters have their own lives, own circle of friends, enemies, associates, and hobbies and they'll be living out their life while not in the player's control. When off mission, you can play as any of these characters or even just focus on one the entire time. It's up to you, but you'll want to play as all three if you want to experience everything possible as there will be things that only certain characters can do.

Each character has their respective roles. It was pretty cool to see the player shoot off the rocket as Trevor, and then switch down to Michael just as the rocket hit its target. You're going to want to switch between characters to take advantage of their skills as the enemy AI has greatly improved. Cops will try to flank you, get to higher ground, and communicate with one another, all in an effort to make for a fun challenge."

Rockstar Fan Art: A GTA Rogues Gallery in MS Paint

Posted 1 month, 1 day ago | Author: R* Q | Filed Under: Games

Wow. Apparently created by Brazilian fan artist Eduardo Favaro and entitled 'Todos os personagens da série GTA', this is an assembly of GTA characters from across titles and game universes ranging from the usual suspects (Niko, CJ, Tommy..) to the most underground of the underworld (Timur, King Courtney, Bubba...) - and all entirely sketched in MS Paint.

Props as well to Brazilian Facebook fan page Grand Theft Auto V FC for helping bring it to light.

How many can you name?

Rockstar Game Tips: Ruling the Streets in Midnight Club 1 & 2

Posted on April 16 2013, 11:17am | Author: R* Q | Filed Under: Games

Midnight Club has a wide array of special vehicles to unlock in New York and London. Doing so will help you greatly in your rise through the ranks of street racers.

With the recent release of both the original Midnight Club: Street Racing as well as Midnight Club 2 (on the occasion of its decade anniversary year) as downloadable PS2 Classics on PlayStation Network, we've hit their vintage pavements to help gather up some helpful tips to help shake the dust off your racing street cred and make your mark on the avenues and alleyways of New York City, London, Los Angeles, Paris and Tokyo.

The original Midnight Club: Street Racing's Career Mode pits you against a series of increasingly formidable rivals, each with their own personalities and driving styles. Heed this advice to leave each of them in the wake of your exhaust fumes:

  • Rush Hour - New York and London traffic have been the bane of many a commuter on both sides of the pond, and they can also be your undoing at the start of a Waypoint race. Try to steer of any jostling and focus on pulling ahead of the crowd.

  • Crush Hour - On the other hand, in a Head 2 Head race don't be afraid of getting physical and ramming your rival out of contention. Aim for their rear bumper on either side for optimum sabotage. Because you're not racing against robots, opponents will sometimes make mistakes and spin out ahead of you. Make the most of this and smash them out of contention.

  • Bird's Eye View - Waypoint Races don't follow a linear path; they are made up of a series of checkpoints and a finish line, and it's up to you to navigate the quickest route. At the start of the race, hit the Select button to zoom out on your map to make this easier.

  • I'd Tap That - The handbrake can go from best friend to mortal enemy in the space of a millisecond. A gentle tap will take you round sharp corners like a dream but hold it too long and you'll quickly find yourself staring into your opponents' headlights. Go easy!

  • Pink Slips - As you come up against increasingly challenging rival racers you need to make sure your ride is up to the task. As you work your way through the ranks you will win your rivals' cars, so it's worth checking your garage regularly to see if there's a faster model available. If you're really struggling with a particular race, don't be afraid to forfeit - you can always come back later with a gnarlier whip.
