GTA Online Creator Throwback Jobs Inspired by Classic GTA Missions

Posted 1 week, 1 day ago | Author: R* K | Filed Under: Games

Recently we shared a list of fun and nostalgic GTA Online Jobs made by fans that used the Creator tool to pay homage to the gameplay of their favorite Rockstar titles of years past. This week, we've rounded up a selection of Jobs created specifically in tribute to classic Grand Theft Auto missions from GTAIII, Vice City, San Andreas and GTAIV. There's also a couple of Jobs themed around Chinatown Wars, set in a Los Santos slice of the Far East around Textile City. Click on the name of the Job to see it on Social Club and bookmark it to your game.

Team Deathmatch The Exchange by JIIThe_JokerIIK (Xbox 360)

Here we see the explosive final mission of GTAIII reimagined as a Deathmatch alongside the Land Act Dam. Extra points awarded for authenticity here as JIIThe_JokerIIK has carefully placed props to match Claude's final showdown with the Colombian Cartel. We recommend seizing control of the Buzzard quickly to gain the edge if you're playing this with one with your Crew.

Team Deathmatch Bomb da Base by DuPz0r (PS3)

This Deathmatch - based on Act II of Bomb da Base in GTAIII, where Claude and 8-Ball blow up the Les Cargo ship - offers its own fair share of bang for the buck on a shipping vessel docked just off the Port of South Los Santos terminal. Be sure to check out the empty containers raised from the ground for some juicy firepower, though beware - someone else might have gotten there first...

Team Deathmatch Four Iron by auclair-O_o (PS3)

Tommy Vercetti had to check his firearms at the door at Leaf Links in Vice City. Luckily, they seem to be far more liberal on weapon checks at the Los Santos Golf Club. In this Deathmatch remake of the Four Iron mission in VC, you'll find a few handguns scattered around the greens and fairways. Of course there are plenty of golf clubs lying around in case you feel like working on your short game.

Race Farewell, My Love... by iLewisGTA (Xbox 360)

After Carl Johnson spurned the dangerous affections of Catalina in San Andreas, she pit her new boyfriend (a certain strong, silent type) against CJ in a race around Red County. In his GTA Online remake, iLewisGTA has selected Coupes as the default vehicle for authenticity and really nailed the tight, slippery corners of the original circuit around The Panopticon in Red County. A major Rockstar fan, Lewis had made a bunch of Throwback Jobs that you can check out on his Social Club profile.

Race Valet Parking by DrHoctor (Xbox 360)

"Being a valet at the Richman Hotel has its perks, like all the nice cars that pull in. -Borrow- one of them and take it for a test drive" says DrHocter's description to this Lap Race, based on the valet parking side mission from San Andreas. Starting and ending at the Richman Hotel, and weaving through the tight Morningwood streets, there's a lot more to it than parking for sure. Watch out for approaching opponents along the looped section and try to get the customers' cars back without a scratch.

Race High Stakes, Low Rider by thewolfking90 (PS3)

Top marks for authenticity go to thewolfking90 for this Race, which nicely captures the feel of its inspiration - the High Stakes, Low Rider mission in San Andreas. Set to Muscle Cars and finishing up at Del Perro Pier, you can almost feel Cesar Vialpando bearing down on your rear bumper. The choice to set West Coast Classics as the default radio station is a lovely nod to the classic wessyde vibe as well.

Capture GTA: Lost Angels by RikkiVercetti (Xbox 360)

Inspired by the conflict between The Lost and the Angels of Death in The Lost and Damned, this Capture Job from prolific GTA Online Creator RikkiVercetti pits two teams in a proxy war for these two notorious motorcycle clubs, each tasked with stealing the signature rides from the other group. A broad stretch of rolling hills between West Vinewood and Stab City ensure that in this large capacity Capture you’ll need to spread out and leave skilled defenders to protect your precious hogs from getting stolen. Sawed-off Shotguns and Molotovs as the default weapons setting also force you to pick your shots and cover choices wisely when nearing the enemy base.

Capture Chinatown Wars by Choc_late (Xbox 360)

This is an intimate, close quarters Capture amidst the urban neon and colorful lanterns of West Vinewood's Mission Row. Expect a heavy exchange of gun fire as two teams battle it out for domination of the central alleyway where the Capture Objects are to be found. The situation is further intensified by the accurate resident gang members who carry equal contempt for both teams as well as high-grade firearms. Respawning in Canis Mesas means either bag is never far away, so stake your claim on cover to protect your teammates during a desperate grab.

Team Deathmatch Chinatown Wars by WinR4R (PS3)

Attrition across the rooftops or balls-out carnage in Sinners Passage - this Deathmatch features well thought out weapon placement ensuring that each match outcome here in Textile City has the potential to play out differently.

Once again, kudos go out to all of the savvy creators of these Jobs for their solid work (and keen memories!). If you have played any of these or other Jobs based on classic Rockstar games or missions, let the Social Club community know in the comments section and if you've made any that you're especially proud of that you'd like us to check out, be sure to tag them #throwback.

Rockstar Verified: 10 New GTA Online Jobs Including the #IMNOTAHIPSTER Selections

Posted 2 weeks ago | Author: R* K | Filed Under: Games

During the "I'm Not a Hipster" Event Weekend, we issued a challenge for players to create custom GTA Online Jobs using the new content from The "I'm Not a Hipster" Update, and tag them #IMNOTAHIPSTER on Social Club for the chance to earn Rockstar Verified glory, along with GTA$1M and an exclusive HIPSTER vanity plate. Below are our five chosen favorites, along with an additional quintet of user-created selections from recent months to complete our latest full batch of new Rockstar Verified Jobs that are now available to play in GTA Online. Just bookmark any of the Jobs by clicking on the titles below or play through them all with your Crew by creating your own Playlist.

#IMNOTAHIPSTER Selections

Get to grips with the 6-wheeled Dubsta in Dubsta Warz.

Dubsta Warz - created by Darteyld
Put the climbing ability of your new Dubsta to the test in this point-to-point Race where roads are for the weak. Starting out on Chumash Beach, get to the edge of the Grand Senora Desert as the crow flies, crossing mountains and scaling vertiginous slopes under twilight.

The 80’s Turf War - created by GAMRZ_UK_SLiCkZ3
This neighborhood gang shootout uses over the top, action movie inspired weapons and careful placement of the cars included in the "I'm Not a Hipster" Update to give Grove Street a vintage feel. Players start with a Micro SMG and a handful of ammo, though more powerful weapons can be picked up if you can find them. The scarcity of ammo here encourages a varied approach, whether it's stalking the rooftops or demonstrating that the bonnet of a Glendale is not the best cover when there are RPGs flying around.

Panto-monium Microcircuit - created by THEKerles
Proving that the Panto isn't just for old ladies and tree huggers, this intimate Lap Race is a test of car control and the ability to find the correct racing line. Expect tense bumper-to-bumper action, with very little runoff around some of the sharpest corners. You'll want to make the most of the few overtaking opportunities available.

Go off road in the Swedish Folkrace.

Swedish Folkrace - created by MaximilianR18
Swedish Folkrace is a mixture of tarmac and off-road racing for inexpensive road vehicles - perfect for some of the cars featured in the "I'm Not a Hipster" Update. MaximilianR18 - a member & co-leader of The GR Live Crew - has introduced this local pastime to GTA Online, adding slippery turns that make for an intense Lap Race with plenty of sideways action. As the description suggests, try this one in your customized Warrener.

HIPSTER DEATH RALLY - created by diggzzzz
The dirt roads by Senora Airstrip are the stage for this high speed off-road Race well suited to the "I'm Not a Hipster" Update cars. Watch out for the oil container on the first corner, or you could find yourself going out with the wrong kind of bang. There's also a ramp around half way to potentially slow you down or, if you come off a slipstream at just the right time, provide an opportunity for a stylish aerial overtake.

5 Additional Rockstar Verified Jobs

The Coil - Created by Wormbo
A hair-raising Race for Supercars that snakes around the oval ring roads at Los Santos International Airport and then down a sharp detour past the Sightings restaurant and back again. Prepare for white knuckles gripping steering wheels and game controllers as you hurtle around fast sweeping curves, along single track overpasses or through the chicanes and hairpins around the restaurant. Long narrow sections overlap several times, maximizing potential for some spectacular high-speed crashes.

The Los Santos Triangle - Created by Ma1evo1ent Cheese
After the Verification of Farm Fresh, Ma1evo1ent Cheese comes up with the goods once again with this short, technical Race with tight, Grand Prix-style corners that will push your car handling skills to the breaking point. Leave traffic off and go with Non-Contact to ensure that there are no distractions as you gun each lap trying to improve on your personal best. The default Supercar class will get around the course pretty quick, so go for a full 4 laps to really get a feel for it.

Don't take your eyes of the road as you Loop The Lake.

Loop the Lake - created by twisterrk
This is a beautifully simple Lap Race around the Vinewood Lake that provides fantastic views of the Vinewood sign, the Galileo Observatory and the Downtown Los Santos skyline. Try not to get distracted by the scenery as you battle for position on a narrow curving road. Aggressive maneuvers will pay off, but don't be afraid to use the brake to avoid getting trapped behind the low tire walls at several corners. This Race plays well with most vehicle classes but try Muscle or Sports for a more technical challenge. Creator twisterrk is a member of the Reddit Dads Crew - specifically designed for those whose family commitments limit the time that they have to play GTA Online. If that's a familiar issue, get involved!

Pit Stop - Created by IckyQualms
Thematically similar to previous verified Deathmatch Lodge Battle, this is a tight TDM map with plenty of hazards - don't linger too long by the fuel tanks! Pit Stop takes place in an underappreciated area of the map just off the Palomino freeway. Head off-piste to find the lone sniper rifle or make a play for the array of melee weapons to get a jump on unsuspecting opponents coming around corners.

Running for cover in Retaliate.

 Retaliate - Created by gun_harmony
A tight Deathmatch map that makes for a small, frantic 2-team TDM or compact free-for-all. A compact setup with good use of vertical space, plenty of cover and opportunities to flank the enemy team. Head in with your Crew for an 8v8 battle and seek retribution on any Crews you've got beef with.

With some spectacular Jobs released in this batch, we're really looking forward to playing them in upcoming Crew Battles and on our special guest streams. Keep an eye out on the Rockstar Twitch channel (twitch.tv/rockstargames) this Friday at around 4pm for a run through of these new Jobs in a special Rockstar Verified Edition livestream hosted by our friend Swiftor and featuring special guest players including TypicalGamer who’s been known to enjoy previous Rockstar Verified releases. If you haven't already, head over to our Twitch page now to hit the follow button and get an email notification whenever we go live, or follow us on Twitter for all the latest updates. You can also watch the stream here on the Rockstar Newswire where we'll be embedding it for the duration of the broadcast.

Please note that in addition to occasionally changing Job names due to taste, copyright or other reasons - we also from time to time will make other small edits to players' Jobs before making them Rockstar Verified. This includes, but is not limited to modifying spawn points, improving checkpoints or increasing/decreasing the amount of weapon picks ups for a particular Job. Once Jobs are Rockstar Verified, they become available for play across both platforms, so whether you're on Xbox 360 or PS3, you'll have all these newly Verified creations available in your next Freemode session (you can also bookmark them at the Social Club for easy access in your next session).

Go ahead and post your Job below in the comments (only once, please don't spam) with a punchy explanation of why it's worth checking out. We're always looking for new player-created Jobs to add to the Rockstar Verified program and the best way to get noticed is to have a solid Race or Deathmatch that's been thoroughly tested by the community and refined into the most fun and fair experience it can be.

Rockstar Game Tips: Mastering the Most Challenging GTA Online Contact Missions

Posted 2 weeks, 2 days ago | Author: R* K | Filed Under: Games

As well as Races, Deathmatches and Captures, the huge array of Jobs available to play in GTA Online includes Contact Missions where you can team up with others online and earn GTA$ by stealing military hardware, busting drug deals, assassinating would-be rats and much more.

We've identified the five Contact Missions that players find to be the most challenging and laid out our tips for beating them. As there are lots of ways to approach any mission, some just effective as others, we have opted for those that are fun and rewarding to execute as a team, as well as being sound strategies for success. All of these missions were played on Hard for maximum challenge and return of RP and GTA$. Our players were all of Rank 100+ but bear in mind that some of these Jobs are only unlocked at certain Ranks.

Death From Above
Available from the Start Menu | 1-4 Players | Unlocked at Rank 23

An old associate of Martin Madrazo is trying to testify against him. Martin wants him gone and he wants proof the job is done. Trouble is, the target is barricaded in his mansions and surrounded by guards.

It's not just the guards you have to worry about here: the cops will be alerted as soon as you enter the mansion and will be there in seconds. This makes it very difficult to attack from the ground, since there is only one entry point to the mansion and you'll have heat coming from all angles. Our recommended approach is to take a helicopter and drop one player off on a neighboring rooftop. Then, as the helicopter hovers over the mansion, this player can take out the two guards on the mansion roof using a sniper rifle. When this is done, two of the players in the chopper can parachute to the mansion roof and hold down cover positions, while the helicopter pilot retreats and the sniper continues to fire on the guards from range.

When the evidence is in hand, the pilot can return to pick up the players inside the mansion and deliver them to Madrazo. You'll have to lose your Wanted Level first, which you can do by flying to a secluded location or giving Lester a call.

High Priority Case
Lester Contact Mission | 1-4 Players | Unlocked at Rank 25

Lester requires some documents that are about to change hands on top of the under construction Mile High Club in Downtown Los Santos. Your job is to take the documents to Lester's warehouse.

A helicopter is essential for this Mission. One approach is to land on top of the Maze Bank tower and snipe all of the guards on the neighboring Mile High Club building from there. But our recommendation is for three players to parachute directly onto the Mile High Club, ensuring to land in a cover position, and take a more direct approach while the pilot retreats to the Maze Bank and provides sniper support from there. When the guards are clear, grab the suitcase and get ready to take out the enemy chopper. The best way to do this is stay on the same floor where you collected the suitcase, since the concrete pillars provide better angles of cover. Your support helicopter should be ready to pick up the player with suitcase and transport them to the Warehouse for the dropoff, but they can also assist by distracting the enemy chopper if the players on the ground come under heavy fire.

Base Invaders
Available from the Start Menu | 1-4 Players | Unlocked at Rank 27

Trevor Philips Industries are looking to expand their fleet with a Cargobob. They need you to steal one from Fort Zancudo and are willing to lend you a plane to get there - as long as you keep it in one piece. You're also going to want to take out the fighter jets so that they can't come after you.

The choice spot to land the Velum is the runway to the west side of the base as there are fewer patrols there and it will allow all players to get into position without drawing too much initial attention. Have one player parachute onto a hanger en route as it offers massive potential for snipers. A solid plan for taking out the Lazers is to grab a Barracks and drive fast past all of the jets, planting a Sticky Bomb on each as you pass. Remember to only detonate after you have planted all Sticky Bombs and are in position to storm the hangar, since the explosions will bring reinforcements.

It's time for one designated player to infiltrate the hangar and steal the Cargobob. This may sound like a tall order for one player, but it is manageable with the other three distracting most of the guards outside. Defending players should try not to bunch together, since this will make them an easier target for the guards.

Approach the hangar from behind, as there are more cover opportunities there. Enter carefully and take out the guards inside, then make a run for the Cargobob and get out of there as quickly as you can. It also pays to have a Plan B in mind, talking as a team via headsets and deciding who is going to break for the Cargobob in case the first player doesn't make it.

Once you're clear of the base it should be a straightforward cruise to Sandy Shores Airfield. Just be careful not to mess up the landing!

Out Of Harmony
Ron Contact Mission | 1-4 Players | Unlocked at Rank 50

Ron's contact is looking to take a big shipment of weapons over the Mexican border and there's a slight chance they won't be used for something totally horrendous down there. You must steal the trailer currently in the possession of The Lost at the cement works in Harmony and deliver it, in one piece, to the buyer at Catfish View boatyard.

This mission is against the clock so it's important to be quick and efficient. Our recommended approach is for the four players to split into two pairs: two players attacking from the north of the cement works and the other two approaching via a gap in the fence to the north-east. Not only will this split the attention of the guards and halve their powers of protection, it will give the two guys near the gap in the fence a clear view of the trailer. As soon as there's a clear path, they should break cover and make a run for the truck while the other two continue to fend off the attention of The Lost.

Reverse the truck to attach the trailer and then drive straight out of the cement works, following the minimap to the destination. You're going to want to stick to the roads, given that you're against the clock and you're going to be pursued by motorcycles that will have a distinct advantage off-road. As you make your break two guards on motorcycles will come after you. The two non-driving players should take them out quickly and steal the motorcycles in order to provide a fast and agile convoy for the precious cargo, which is going to come under fire en route to the boatyard. The truck driver should take out any motorcycles ahead, since they're going to be more of a nuisance if they get in behind you, and in a head-on collision truck beats bike every time.

It's not quite over when you get there either: you're going to have to protect the trailer from a wave of angry Lost soldiers. Make sure each remaining team member is in a good cover position, bearing in mind that all enemies will be coming from the road to the West. Make the most of this bottleneck and take them out before they get close to complete the Mission.

Factory Closure
Available from the Start Menu | 3-4 Players | Unlocked at Rank 18

Be a patriot. Buy American, steal foreign. A rival crew has a fleet of top-end motorbikes at the Maibatsu factory earmarked for an upcoming job. You can sabotage their plans and make some money in the process by stealing the bikes and delivering them to the drop-off.

For this Contact Mission, players will be split into three set roles - Transporter, Sniper and Lookout - and you can decide to assign specific players to these roles before the start of the Job. Our recommended approach is for everyone to head to the back of the factory via the grassy bank on the corner of Vespucci Blvd and La Mesa. First allow the Sniper to get into position using the discreetly placed ladder to the side of the factory. Then the remaining three players can fight of the guards, being careful to stay in cover and relying on scope support and headset guidance from the Sniper. Be careful not to get the trailer caught in the crossfire, as the Mission will fail if it is destroyed. When the coast is clear, one of the Transporters jumps into the trailer, while the Lookout and other Transporter grab a car and provide an escort all the way to the drop-off in case of enemy roadblocks.

We hope you find these Contact Mission tips useful and feel free to let the community know if you take different approaches in the comments.

The GTA Online Independence Day Event Weekend Recap: Snapmatic Contest Winners, The USA vs UK 'Rematch' Battle and More

Posted 3 weeks ago | Author: R* K | Filed Under: Games, Social Club

This past weekend, the citizens of San Andreas painted the town red, white and blue in the name of Old Glory over the 4-day GTA Online Independence Day Weekend Event celebrating America's birthday and last week's brand new seasonal Independence Day Special content update. RP and GTA$ bonuses were up for grabs in the official Event Playlist, our eyes welled at the patriotic beauty of the #IndependenceDay Snapmatic contest submissions and 'Team USA', represented by Lui Calibre and some of our Rockstar Devs (plus surprise guest player Vanoss from north of the border), took on the Old World - 'Team UK' in the form of the GTA V O'Clock Crew - in an epic cross-pond confrontation. Read on for a rundown of what went down, the winning Snapmatic pics, some additional weekend fan videos displaying true 'merican spirit and more.

THE OFFICIAL ROCKSTAR BROADCAST: "AMERICA VS GREAT BRITAIN - THE REMATCH" FEAT. SPECIAL GUESTS LUI CALIBRE AND THE GTA V O'CLOCK CREW

Whoever coined the phrase "let sleeping dogs lie" turned in their grave last Thursday as we opened up a 240-year-old grudge between America and Great Britain - The Rematch. This time, the score would be settled on the western battlegrounds of San Andreas in GTA Online. Team USA was designed to represent from sea to shining sea with esteemed YouTuber Lui Calibre live from his hometown San Diego bringing his heavyweight GTA Online skills to team up with our own crack squad of Rockstar NYC Devs - and just before we went live, we learned that Lui was bringing an a secret weapon to the table in VanossGaming fresh off his own Canada Day celebrations last week and playing live from the Great White North to help turn the American team into a true pan-North-American all-star threat. 'Team UK' was represented by the lads of GTA V O'Clock - Dan Dawkins, James Jarvis and Iain Wilson, aka the illustrious 'Mr Trophy'. Upper lips stiffened, their quartet was completed by Nick Reeves, event manager and boss of the GTA Fans Crew, whom they recruited via YouTube comments on the video announcing their involvement the day prior. Nick joined up with them from the good colony of Australia as Dan put it, ready to assist Team UK in claiming redemption for Queen and country. Watch the archived battle royale below and read on for some particular highlights you can jump to.

00:00:43 Mud, Sweat and Gears

The great Rematch began with this new Land Race featuring off-road beast, the Liberator monster truck. Oversized and way over the top, it came as no surprise when Team USA's Lui and Vanoss took an early lead. They never looked back and when GTA V O'Clock's Mr. Trophy threatened to take third place for the UK, our own GTADev2 pushed him out of the way to take the bronze. USA! USA!...

00:08:35 Raid: Bunker Thrill

Inspired by the great Battle of Bunker Hill, next up was one of the new Capture Jobs, Raid: Bunker Thrill. Though they put up a good fight (including an impressive flag delivery from James), things didn't work out so well this time around for the Brits, with the Yanks taking this game 3-1.

00:25:02 Americana

For this new Parachuting Job, Lui once again came out on top with 245 points displaying some ace technique. Repping the UK, Nick racked up a solid 195 points. Teammate Dan might have had some issues nailing those blue circle checkpoints, but on the other hand he did get a complimentary scenic tour of Vinewood.

00:32:35 Road Tripping

Sporting the new high-powered, long-range Muskets, next up was Road Tripping, one of the two latest Rockstar-created Deathmatches added to the game last week. On this one, the Red Coats came with an aggressive approach and went back and forth on the leaderboards. Unfortunately for them, they couldn't quite keep up with Lui's 21 kills and the US took the round.

00:45:35 Swamp Monster

The warriors took to their Liberators once more for another new Land Race. With Lui taking an early lead, James focused on keeping GTADev1 away from second place. After a couple of close calls, he was able to hold on to the silver with a time of 3:32 and Dan was just behind him to take third.

01:13:13 Del Perro Pier Free Roam

In between Jobs and after stopping off to try on some of the new animal masks, our own GTADev4 drove over to get some thrills on the Leviathan Roller Coaster for a bit of holiday diversion.

Thanks particularly to the gameplay dominance of Lui, Team USA protected its national interests and while Team UK’s claim of a draw may be highly-contestedwe can agree an awesome time was had by all.

A hearty cheers to the always classy gents from GTA V O’Clock who were good enough to send us this salute live from the pub where wounds and pints were lapped up after the battle.

You can also check out some bonus footage courtesy of both Lui Calibre who posted a special edit of the broadcast incorporating some footage from his own perspective and an archive of the stream as it appeared live on GTA V O’Clock’s channel too.

THE #INDEPENDENCEDAY SNAPMATIC COMPETITION WINNERS

Here’s the 5 victors of the #IndependenceDay Weekend Snapmatic Contest who won us over with their originality, humor and/or beauty in showcasing brand new Independence Day Special content. These guys are all first-time winners, so good on them for taking home the kitty of GTA$1M and the AMERICA in-game license plate. Read on as well for lots of honorable mentions worth checking out as well.

"Palomino Highlands" by King_Leonidas_I of the Sons of Anarchy PS3x Crew
We've seen quite a few other attempts to re-enact the Revolutionary War this Independence Day Weekend, such as this shot of the Regulars by Kosevil that we featured during last Thursday's live stream and this one by Horokazu of the Yankees poised for battle. King_Leonidas_I's winning shot seen above, however, really takes the cake with a proper Redcoats versus Rebels Musket battle on the proverbial bunker hill of the Palomino Highlands. Don't miss the after shot as well - looks like the Redcoats may have taken this particular battle.

"Postrzelony Slub" (Wedding Shot) by VVeteran of the Rewolucja Crew
It's wedding season in San Andreas and the Rewolucja Crew are the Musket-wielding patriotic wedding party to the happy bride and groom, complete with firework confetti to boot. An honorary mention-er back from the #ThanksCargobob Snapmatic Contest, VVeteran is finally the bride rather than the bridesmaid.

"LIBERATOR MAN!!!!!" by Dr_Nyan_ of the Killers Creed Crew
This one is pretty rockin'. Perfect composition with The Liberator perched atop the Maze Bank helipad on a beautiful sunny day in Los Santos with red, white and blue fireworks aplomb and a screaming American eagle letting the July 4th celebrations fly.

"MERICA! F*CK YEAH!" by BsW93. of the Queens of the Damned Crew
Leaping Liberators... There are a few awesome shots of these all-American power houses catching some major air including these by Streetsoul1001, caskillo, PartyZen and a star-studded bus jump by Fleisz. But BsW93. here went BIG for 'merica, pulling off an epic stunt leapfrogging a Lazer, snapping it at the perfect moment and then tying it all together with some appropriately bold Team America meme creator caption text. Says Crewmate and collaborator SublimeKen in photo comments: "The timing was really hard to get right lol. Turned out great though :) Actually don't think it would look so cool if the jet were directly below the monster truck. This way though, it looks kinda brilliant xD." Slow clap.

"Little Red Riding Hood" by MOTTZ_ of the VIOLATE YOU GET IT Crew
A very clever use of the new Independence Day Special wolf masks, perfectly composed here with the lupine predator peeking out from behind a tree at an unsuspecting lass presumably on her way to grandma's house in the countryside... MOTTZ_ also did similarly clever fairy tale photo shoots using the new animal masks: the Three Little Pigs (in MOTTZ_ version, wearing lingerie?) and Goldilocks and the Three Bears

SNAPMATIC HONORABLE MENTIONS

There were so many other great ones that nearly made the cut - check 'em out:

  • "Del Perro Beach" by sicaro12 - a patriotic & creative use of the crate props in the Content Creator.
  • The Wolf of Wall Street hits Los Santos, with these well-done picture puns by Sacred__G of the Ganja Outlaws Crew and GTAPhotographers member BoIIockyBen's lone 'wolf' take.
  • With the newly running Leviathan Roller Coaster in GTA Online, the Pleasure Pier was a hot spot this Independence Day Weekend making for some good old fashioned all-American amusement park fun. A few photographers managed to climb the coaster and capture the action: JuzSlayin, BrittaniJay and Newby-GTA went for the classic hands-in-the-air shot, while CaPn-bOnEs caught a selfie gone wrong and probably a Del Perro Pier theme park lawsuit waiting to happen.
  • The Guess Who would be proud of these sexy homages to "American Woman" by RowdeRCS and Franky5exy.
  • "Lift off!," another gem by RowdeRCS, shows a couple of revelers at the wrong end of a Fireworks Launcher rocket - great timing on this one.
  • ラ・メサ” (La Mesa) by MILKFED: Los Santos by firework-light while the star-spangled banner waves proudly in the foreground - it's the most-liked Snapmatic from the weekend with 590 and counting and its visceral Americana patriotism is especially impressive considering MILKFED is in Japan!
  • HairyHole, an acclaimed Snapmatic photographer and previous photo contest champion who was dubbed by commenter SLAP-FART as the "GRAND MASTER OF MEME ART" this time designed a shot that will have you thinking you're back in Liberty City. Titled "Lady Liberty," HairyHole craftily used the Meme Editor to bring The Statue of Happiness to Los Santos' shoreline.
  • Spread Eagle” at Mount Chiliad by GhostmanNo1 – crude and rude, yes – but pretty damn funny at that.

INDEPENDENCE DAY WEEKEND GEAR GIVEAWAY SWEEPSTAKES WINNERS

Thanks to everyone who entered the Independence Day Gear Giveaway Sweepstakes featuring 5 special Prize Packs of rare and all-American themed GTA collectibles including a GTAIV Aluminum Bat, Patriot Beer cups, GTAIV foam finger, a Statue of Happiness figurine, a GTAV Los Santos Lifeguard tee and a Vice City beach ball. We’re still confirming some of the Grand Prize Winners (congrats to zBusa187 and quackmind so far) and runner-ups who will win GTAV tees and stickers so be sure to check your inbox of the email attached to your Social Club account (and make sure to update your Social Club account so that your most actively used email address is the one you have linked so that you don’t miss out on important confirmation mails such as this).

INDEPENDENCE DAY WEEKEND GTA YOUTUBE COMMUNITY FUN

As one would expect, the GTA YouTube community was alight with red, white and blue mayhem over the past week - here's just a couple of our favorites.

An eagle wearing a helmet and a pair of cocksure accomplices celebrate America’s Independence in high fashion in this Fourth of July video by WhosChaos presented by the Videogames Channel: getting 'lit', riding dirty on rollercoasters and showing a complete disregard for proper fireworks safety guidelines.

Posted on July 4th and culled from one of his always-epic HikePlays live-streams, our old friend HikeTheGamer puts on a grand finale of patriotic funny moments pandemonium, 'landing' the Liberator, setting off rockets and trying on all the new outrageous customization options in the Independence Day Special.

Stay tuned for the next GTA Online content updates as well as more Social Club Event Weekends to be announced very soon.

The "Independence Day Special Event" Playlist is a special selection of some of the brand new Rockstar-created Jobs published this week including specific Races for new vehicles like the Sovereign motorcycle and the super-sized Liberator monster truck. This weekend only (starting this Thursday), this Playlist will score you Double GTA$ and Double RP. To access the Playlist, just go to Online > Playlists > Rockstar Created in the GTA Online Start Menu and select "Independence Day Event" from the options listed. Alternatively, hit the Event button in the GTAV loading screens to launch straight into the Playlist.

75% OFF AIRSTRIKES

Merryweather Security is also getting in on the celebrations with a 75% discount on Airstrikes all weekend. So if some left-leaning Belgian beer drinker asks for sparkling water at your Blaine County BBQ, you can call in cut-rate backup from friends in very high places. To call in an Airstrike, call Merryweather from your in-game phone, select 'Airstrike' and then drop a flare at your target position.

25% OFF HEAVY AMMO (FOR RPGs, GRENADE LAUNCHERS AND MINIGUNS) - COURTESY OF AMMU-NATION

The good folks at Ammu-Nation believe that all Americans should have access to military-grade firepower without a 'defense budget' price tag. All weekend, they're offering 25% off ammo for RPGs, Grenade Launchers and Miniguns, because packing enough personal firepower to wipe out a small nation is a right, not a privilege.

FREE PEGASUS DELIVERIES FOR EZ ACCESS TO THE LIBERATOR MONSTER TRUCK

Pegasus Lifestyle Management salutes your independence by giving you the freedom to call in any oversized vehicle at absolutely no charge. Take advantage of the weekend-long offer to get to grips with the brand new Liberator monster truck, and spend 4th of July Weekend crushing cars into the ground like you'd crush beer cans against your own head.

#INDEPENDENCEDAY SNAPMATIC CONTEST

However you're commemorating the Fourth of July this weekend, we want to see those Snapmatic pics showing your love for Old Glory. Whether you're rolling over foreign compact cars in the Liberator monster truck or setting off some fireworks in the yard of your new Paleto Bay abode, share your most creative, amusing or beauteous patriotic snaps for a chance to win GTA$1M and an AMERICA vanity license plate for your in-game vehicle.

To make your shots eligible for entry, simply log in to Social Club and tag them #INDEPENDENCEDAY between now and the end of Sunday.

The GTA Online Independence Day Special – Now Available

Posted 4 weeks, 1 day ago | Author: R* K | Filed Under: Games

From Paleto Bay to the Port of Los Santos and everywhere in between, it’s time to celebrate the birthplace of freedom with The Independence Day Special (in association with Ammu-Nation) for Grand Theft Auto Online.

Demonstrate your exceptionalism and own the road from sea to shining sea with two new star spangled rides, the Sovereign motorcycle and the super-sized Liberator monster truck. And protect your rights the same way our Founding Fathers did with the latest addition to Ammu-Nation's antiques collection, the high-powered Musket... or channel your inner Jack Howitzer with the spectacular Firework Rocket Launcher.

Seven new properties have also been added to the Dynasty 8 rolls, including locations in Paleto Bay and Vinewood Hills that provide plenty of yard space to scorch the grass with your very own Fireworks show. Use up to 12 varieties with different fuse lengths to create a spectacle that would make even the most battle-hardened Republican Space Ranger shed a tear. If you prefer rickety amusements operated by minimum wage teenage workers over incendiary lawn displays, then venture down to Pleasure Pier where you can now ride the Ferris Whale and the Leviathan Roller Coaster.

This limited-time update also features an overabundance of patriotic flare: show off nationalistic pride with a "Made in the U.S.A." t-shirt, a backwoods mullet or let the eagle soar with an animal mask featuring this great nation's most fearsome and majestic creatures.

CRATE DROPS

For the duration of The Independence Day Special seasonal content period, Special Crate Drops will contain 6 different Beer Hats and an exclusive Statue Of Happiness t-shirt. Keep an eye out for messages about Crate Drops in your in-game feed and watch for the plane on the map in the pause menus to find the drop zone.

NEW JOBS AVAILABLE TO PLAY

The Independence Day Special includes 17 new GTA Online Jobs to play. Three New Contact Missions are available from the Start Menu (once you meet the rank requirement you'll receive a phone call from the associated Contact:

Hard Labor (Contact: Gerald, Rank 19, 1-4 Players)
"I’ve got some competition based at a construction site in La Puerta. If the head of the crew had an accident, maybe they won’t be so competitive, you get me? Go to the site, clap the dude, I’ll make it worth your while."

Time to Get Away (Contact: Madrazo, Rank 20, 1-2 Players)
"The cops have my cousin, El Estupido, surrounded. He’s under siege at a farm in Paleto Bay. Two of you get him, and escort him to his chopper at McKenzie Airfield in Grapessed. You’ll be rewarded."

Pickup Sticks (Contact: Madrazo, Rank 21, 1-4 Players)
“I’ve got my hands on one of my rivals’ delivery lists. You’re going to be provided with a helicopter, and you’re going to collect all their product after they drop it off, then I can sell it instead. Bring me the packages, I’ll cut you in.”

There are also 14 new Jobs across various game modes:

Across the Wilderness (Rank 1, 1-8 Players)
Discover the great outdoors like your pioneer ancestors did before you, even if that means killing whoever gets in your way. An off-road point to point Race through the Paleto forest with a large jump.

Americana (Rank 20, 1-8 Players)
You’ve been illegally downloading albums for years, so why not finish off the music industry for good. Skip the ticket line, and parachute into the Vinewood Bowl from 6,000 ft.

Contend: Pyrotechnics (Rank 1, 4-16 Players)
Fight for what really matters at the Vinewood Bowl. The team waving the most flags for freedom at the end gets the award for patriotism. The other teams get deported to the land of bad teeth and worse food.

Falling Fast (Rank 11, 1-8 Players)
Parachute from 4,210 ft. and try to land on the roof of the Burger Shot in Vespucci for 4th of July burgers.

Grand Senora Desert LTS (Rank 19, 2-16 Players)
USA! USA! USA! Only one side can win this desert Last Team Standing, but if you back America you’re sure to pick the winner. Head for the rocks if you want to put on a good fireworks display, and try not to get caught out in the unforgiving open.

GTA: Land of the Free (Rank 1, 4-16 Players)
Every 4th of July party needs red meat, beer, heart disease, and a monster truck. Only there’s just one monster truck, and you’re not going to share it (you’re not French). Four teams with off-road vehicles fight to get the truck, and make their BBQ one to remember.

Guns and Gasoline (Rank 11, 1-8 Players)
Parachute jump for beginners. Starts at 4130 ft., takes in views of the Land Act Dam, and lands between a gun shop and gas station. Kind of perfect.

Mud, Sweat and Gears (Rank 8, 1-8 Players)
Fill your cooler with some Logger Lites, grab your hunting rifle, and throw them in the back of your monster truck. It’s time to go back to nature and remember what this nation is all about. Point to point race on dirt roads crossing creeks and going over Mount Josiah.

Panic Attack (Rank 1, 2-16 Players)
Hot dogs! Get your hotdogs! And by hotdogs we mean bullets to the face. This will be a tailgate party to remember in the Maze Bank Arena parking lot. Explosive Team Deathmatch for up to 16 players.

Raid: Bunker Thrill (Rank 1, 2-16 Players)
It’s a holiday, it’s hot outside, you’re drunk, of course your not-so-historical re-enactment of the Battle of Bunker Hill is going to go “method” and turn into a real battle with real dead bodies. A team with a monster truck try to hold the hill, while another team with a Mesa try to raid the camp.

Road Tripping (Rank 1, 2-12 Players)
Road trips aren’t just three gallon energy drinks, sex with truck drivers, and voiding your bowels on the side of the highway. They’re a great American tradition. Celebrate it with this death match along Route 68 - frantic team skirmish among motor hotels of Southern San An for up to 12 players.

Swamp Monster (Rank 15, 1-8 Players)
America isn’t just a place, it’s an idea. Show nature who’s boss by crushing it under your sixty inch tires, and spewing exhaust in its face. Lap Race for monster trucks in area of natural beauty, but not for much longer, Lago Zancudo.

Tour the Lake (Rank 8, 1-8 Players)
From sea to shining sea - appreciate the scuzzy, meth ravaged, recession-beaten beauty of this great nation with a point to point for Sovereign bikes. Starts at the Alamo Sea and ends at the Alamo Sea.

We Have Lift-off (Rank 8, 1-8 Players)
The cops watch the roads for drunk drivers every holiday, so keep to the hills with this lap Race on the desert slopes outside Sandy Shores. Use monster trucks for the terrain and for crushing cop cars if they do find you.

This special seasonal content will be available to redeem in-game until Mid-July (we will announce a specific redemption expiration date soon). The automatic update for the Independence Day Special also includes additional game tuning updates and other adjustments, including the new On Call Matchmaking function. This new option allows players to accept a Job invite and continue playing in Freemode until that Job fills up, reducing time spent idle while waiting for a Job to start. For the complete list of all the fixes and tuning updates, visit the Rockstar Support site.

To download the Independence Day Special, fire up your online-connected PS3 or Xbox 360 and start GTAV. You'll be prompted to download the automatic update (1.15) and Xbox 360 players will also be required to download an additional compatibility pack upon entering GTA Online.

And look for details about the upcoming celebratory 4-day Independence Day Weekend Event tomorrow.

The GTA Online "I'm Not a Hipster" Update Is Now Available

Posted on June 17 2014, 7:23am | Author: R* K | Filed Under: Games, Social Club

Express your incredible individualism and stand out from the herd with The post ironic, artisanal, organic, entirely independent, 100% re-claimed “I’m Not a Hipster” Update now available for Grand Theft Auto Online. This new content update features new retro print tees, skinny jeans, hairstyles, tattoos, animal masks and more, as well as additional enhancements to general gameplay to ensure the world is constantly evolving.

Choose from seven new vehicles including classic nostalgia rides like the Glendale, Warrener, Blade and Rhapsody – affordable cars that seem casual on the surface, but have hidden potential to be unleashed with a few modifications. The environmentally conscious set can check out the Panto microcar, while those looking to roll with their Crew in more ostentatious style can add the massive 3-axel, 6-seater Dubsta (unlocks at Rank 100) to their fleet.

A tuned up Rhapsody and Warrener hit the streets.

Even Ammu-Nation is getting in on the latest non-ironic trends with the Vintage Pistol and Antique Cavalry Dagger now in stock. Make sure to try all these out in the slew of new Jobs, as part of your long arduous journey to become one of Los Santos' effortlessly cool.

Along with today's update, gear up for 12 new Jobs across an assortment of game modes, including Races that provide showcase opportunities for these new retro rides, a Deathmatch in Puerta Del Sol, two new Captures and more. There are also three new Gang Attacks in Chumash, East Vinewood and Mirror Park.

Parachuting Airwaves (Rank 15, 1-8 Players)
Students of style know that what comes up must go down. Drop 4,370 feet while imagining you're over all the bands you listen to on Radio Mirror Park, as you twist and turn sharply down to the pond below.

Race Beach Odyssey (Rank 15, 1-16 Players)
Nothing says artistic credibility like a grainy image of trash next to a burnt out RV, so get your butt off a nice beach, and go to a nasty one. This is a Point to Point Race for Sports Classics starting in Chumash, ending in Sandy Shore, mainly on-road with opportunities to hit top speed.

Race Before It Was Cool (Rank 15, 1-8 Players)
Any skinny jeans wearer will tell you, sometimes things just don't fit. Try and squeeze up to eight compact cars around the tight corners of this lap Race in Mirror Park.

Race Caffeine Rush (Rank 1, 1-8 Players)
If your friends caught you drinking anything except a flat white at an independent coffee house it would be social suicide, but when you need java, you need java. This is a Point to Point Sedan Race from Del Perro to Mirror Park passing by four 'Cool Beans' coffee shops.

Capture Contend: Condo-monium (Rank 1, 2-8 Players)
Make a statement about late capitalism or income equality or art or pointless statements or something by trashing condos in Puerto Del Sol. This is a Contend style Capture going for the last of the party supplies in the courtyard between two identical apartment blocks.

Last Team StandingEast Vinewood LTS (Rank 9, 2-16 Players)
They don't know how it started, maybe two girls got the same tattoo, or reposted a Snapmatic without giving photo credit. What they do know is sides have been chosen and East Vinewood's gone to hell in this two team Last Team Standing.

Race Embracing America (Rank 1, 1-8 Players)
All your friends are going East in search of the last un-gentrified patch of turf in the country, and you're heading West. Load up a so-uncool-it's-cool Sedan, and race toward Little Seoul. Lots of straights and a few tight turns at the end of this point to point track.

Capture GTA: Grab a Cab (Rank 1, 2-8 Players)
After twelve hours 'rolling' at your local post-industrial techno-house night, your tattooed friends will be too wide-eyed to drive themselves. Pick up some taxis for them in this two team GTA-style Capture based around the Downtown Cab Co depot in East Vinewood.

Race Hip to be Cool (Rank 1, 1-8 Players)
Because driving around Rockford Hills in nice cars is too mainstream, and going through Vespucci Beach in low riders is kinda yesterday... This Compact class Race takes you back and forth over the Los Santos Freeway and in and out of the Casino parking lot.

Survival Legion Square Survival (Rank 25, 1-4 Players)
Freedom of speech is dead as the cops crack down on Legion Square protesters. Battle the police on foot, in SUVs, and eventually in Buzzard helicopters. And remember that the real bad guys are the bankers looking down on the action from their office windows.

Team Deathmatch Puerto Del Sol (Rank 1, 2-8 Players)
Every artist wanted to die young, then they wanted to mock their predecessors with an ironic statement about dying young, now it's a post-ironic statement and they might end up actually dying.

Race Trend Setting (Rank 1, 1-16 Players)
A Lap circuit Race with muscle cars around Mirror Park for simple people who want to seem complicated.

The brand new Dubsta unlocks at Rank 100 and can accommodate up to 6 players, perfect for rolling out in force with Crew members.

There are also tons of tweaks and updates made to Grand Theft Auto Online as part of this update. A few notable ones include:

  • Ten existing GTAV vehicles have been added to the southernsanandreassuperautos.com website for purchase, including Story Mode characters’ vehicles:
    • Albany Primo
    • BF Surfer
    • Bravado Buffalo
    • Franklin's Bravado Buffalo S
    • Bravado Youga
    • Cheval Picador
    • Dundreary Regina
    • Karin Rebel (clean version)
    • Trevor's Nagasaki Hot Rod Blazer
    • Michael's Obey Tailgater
  • Pure Gold and Brushed Gold paint colors have been added to LS Customs in the ‘Metals’ category. These unlock at Rank 100.
  • A new Pure Black window tint has been added to LS Customs, along with four new jazzy vehicle horns (including one which loops and speeds up / slows down as you drive).
  • Eight new individual player celebrations and four new paired Celebration animations have been added.
  • Players will no longer be charged Insurance costs if their vehicle is destroyed by another player who does not have enough GTA$ to pay.
  • Fixed an issue where, if an insured Personal Vehicle was destroyed, both parties had to pay the insurance costs.
  • Fixed an issue where some four-wheel drive vehicles had reverted to two-wheel drive.
  • Players are now able to bookmark Jobs whilst in a Playlist from the Pause menu.
  • Tear Gas now does more damage and lasts longer.
  • A small tick has been added to the first screen in the corona if a player has played a Job before, much like in the pause menu or Next Job Voting Screen.
  • The level of difficulty is now displayed when pressing D-pad down when playing Missions.

As always, in Story Mode the new Weapons are deposited straight into each of the three characters’ inventory with a full clip of ammo and you can visit the garage property to access the new Vehicles. The new Hairstyles, Facial Hair, Tattoos, Masks and Clothing are only available in GTA Online.

This update also includes a host of other adjustments, game tuning and exploit fixes. For the complete list, please visit the Rockstar Support site. To download the "I'm Not a Hipster" Update, just boot up your online-connected PS3 or Xbox 360 and start GTAV. You'll be prompted to download the automatic update (1.14) and Xbox 360 players will also be required to download an additional compatibility pack upon entering GTA Online.
