GTA Fan Pics: A Lamar and Trevor Cross-Stitch Collaboration, Vintage Trio Portraiture, Trick Photography Snapmatics and More

Posted 3 weeks, 5 days ago | Author: R* X | Filed Under: Games, Social Club

In this week's gallery of fan-created GTAV art, check out awesome needlework renditions of Trevor, Lamar, and Chop, plus a couple of perfectly-timed trick photography Snapmatics, a centerfold's worth of Jobs from a prolific Creator and much more.

As always, should you find (or create) any awe-inspiring GTA or Rockstar-related art or photos that you think other fans need to see, make sure to send them our way via Mouthoff and follow us at instagram.com/rockstargames for all our latest official pics.

Digital pixel art becomes tangible as Grace, aka Beast Heads, cross stitched these needlepoint renditions of Trevor and Lamar that are based on yiq's original pixel art dot by dot. Likely not the first time either of these characters has been under the needle.

A striking study of Trevor by Reuben Dangoor on deviantART – blood spattered and looking irascible under the punishing sun of the Blaine County desert.

"Don't stare at the sun" is sage advice we've all most likely received at some stage, though we'd bet that's safer than opening your eyes at Trevor the wrong way in this piece by Riley, aka aumikre on deviantART. Riley drew this scene entitled ‘It’s Not Creepy’ of Trevor invading a sunbathing couple's (perhaps Michael and Amanda?) personal space as a gift for her real life scooter brother.

A vintage and dignified bit of bust portraiture of Trevor, Michael and Franklin looking ready to Musket up - by Spanish deviantARTist Juan Muñoz.

In a similar vein to some of the pre-release travelogue postcards seen at the GTAV official website, German artist Koalindl has been publishing some very inspired and fun new ones at his deviantArt page, taking in some of the many locations and local businesses Los Santos and Blaine County have to offer.

Running away from trouble or towards it? Only Michael himself and Brazil's LRart1 - the creator of this smart action shot - can answer that question.

Some awesome trick photography by a couple of Snapmatic stalwarts. (Left) We're not sure which part is more impressive in the production of this shot: the aim of the person firing the rocket, the cajones of the guy it narrowly misses, or AlexSniperBullet's timing to capture it. As commenter 0lucaspc says, “THAT timing :)”; (Right) Another mindbender by MissQuickSkillz, combining perspective with insane timing to sell the illusion that a P-996 Lazer is but a toy in this bear-headed lady's hand. Amazing work!

So prolific is Aussie GTA Online creator enkionline of the Tumbleweeds Crew, that they comped them all up into this nifty image that looks straight out of a magazine. (Found on Tumbleweeds' Facebook page).

Fan Art: The GTAV Animated GIF Artwork of Julia Scott, Trevor Gets Patriotic & More

Posted on July 24 2014, 10:39am | Author: R* X | Filed Under: Games

In this week's roundup of awesome Rockstar Games-inspired fan artwork, we’ve stumbled across a very talented illustrator and colorist turning her vivid GTAV character art into striking and super fun animated GIFs, plus some patriotic and timely summer holiday Trevor art, a few impressive Red Dead homages including a minifigs rendition of Undead Nightmare, and much more..

Seen (or created) any amazing GTA or other Rockstar-related art or photos on the interwebs that you think the community needs to see? You can send them our way to check out via Mouthoff and follow us at instagram.com/rockstargames to catch all our latest official pics and shares.

The original animated GIF artwork of illustrator and colorist Julia Scott. Clockwise from top left: "Lamar WHAT are you talking about" is the artist's caption for this very amusing GIF aptly illustrating the unique language of Lamar; A very cool new wave rendition of Michael; and captioned “here we see the monsters in their natural habitat”, this road trip is excerpted from a larger poster-size version called ‘A Change of Coast, A Change of Heart” in honor of Neon Indian's GTAV soundtrack contribution.

Trevor Philips does the Statue of Happiness for Independence Day. Drawn by the talented Gaby aka Silvermender on tumblr: "the american-turned canadian immigrant wishing y'all murricans minimally painful hangovers this fireworks and eagles day".

Meanwhile, in this piece from skoptsky that we found on digimomz's tumblr, Trevor's Canadian heritage is recognized in tribute to July 1st. "IT'S A FAINT F***ING ACCENT!"

Intentionally presented as a vertical piece with Michael trudging downwards through the snow - this poetic bit of original artwork from starfleetrambo aka demitasse-lover (featured previously for the anime-inspired Sniper Michael) is captioned "no one escapes their life / no one escapes their life / no one no one" with a sly nod to Rilo Kiley.

A late #imnotahipster entry, the prolific Ganja Outlaws put that update's face paint masks and Synth gesture to work - choreographing and meme-ing a tribute to the iconic music video for Michael Jackson's Thriller. Photo creds go to WEED's DutchStoner & KanEazy.

Colombian graphic designer Eduardo Restrepo Cardenas here does some impressive spec work for corporate client, ProLAPS. Check out his  full Behance project titled "Refresh Logo" that's amazingly thorough and professionally produced including re-branding logo treatments, font exploration, and a  "Red Blood Storm Championship" product campaign pitch to help sell the fitness brand's latest jersey, helmet, and glove lines.

Life imitates art as #ThanksCargobob Snapmatic winner KnoxNerd proudly shot us these pics via email to show off how he took his in-game vanity plate featuring his Social Club Nickname into a real world license plate complete with the GTA Online logo, San Andreas state and Hillbilly Agenda Crew Emblem. Looks great, but please keep your wanted level at zero stars out there, Knox.

deviantARTist Bing-Ratnapala from Dubai created this gruesome Undead counterpart to his original John Marston portrait

A scene from Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare recreated spot-on with minifigs? Awesome. Made by @madbrickyo, a Lego photography Instagram account filled with tons of fun stuff worth checking out.

@taykinder took the Red Dead Redemption map found in the game packaging and gave it an authentically-styled Goonies map makeover. Props to his mate @brettflanary for the creative assist.

GTA Fan Pics: Los Santos Bullet Street Art, Homemade GTA Action Figure Diorama, Franklin’s Snapmatic

In this week's roundup of awesome Grand Theft Auto inspired fan art, the GTAAdventures subreddit puts on a Daft Punk tribute concert in Los Santos, an Italian artist shows off his amazing custom-made GTA character action figures and dioramas, plus dispatches from the fan fic San Andreas Alternative News, an illustrative imagining of Franklin's Snapmatic feed and more.

As always, should you find (or create) any awe-inspiring GTA or Rockstar-related art or photos that you think other fans need to see, make sure to send them our way via Mouthoff and follow us at instagram.com/rockstargames for all our latest official pics.

Social Club member schoolboy129 gives new meaning to the term "shot for shot remake" here, using the AP Pistol  and some very accurate targeting to muralize a few familiar faces on the streets of Los Santos. In addition to popular GTA characters like Trevor and Ryder seen above, there are also some fun tributes to Springfield's most notorious problem child and lots of others amidst schoolboy's Snapmatic gallery.

Daniele D'Adamo, known as DDJunior on the Italian GTA-Expert fan forum, has been working on a GTA-inspired miniature series for quite some time. Following the release of the limited-edition Claude action figure as a part of the Grand Theft Auto III 10 Year Anniversary Collection a few years back, Daniele worked to provide Claude with a proper habitat by recreating the original Portland safe house from GTA3. Daniele then took it to the next level with homemade Niko Bellic and Michael De Santa action figures seen above, along with a highly detailed diorama set based on the Vangelico Heist mission in GTAV. Shanen, the talented artist formerly known for the radiopappa tumblr (now epsee.tumblr) responsible for the GTAV Bullworth Alternate Universe continues to amaze with her original creative pieces. Enjoy the above illos of Franklin's imagined Snapmatic posts, and she's also been featuring a very fun 'GTAV anime' series as well. Source: epsee.tumblr.

"Oh Show me the way to Sandy Shores I've spent all my money on meth and whores." Illustrator Rotzlöffel did this striking piece at loeffeldraws.tumblr entitled "What a Trevor dreams of" - originally in black-and-white, then brought to an appropriate fever pitch with awesomely vivid coloring as seen above.

The /r/GTAA community has been pulling off some legendary Snapmatic homages for quite a while now, and there's no signs of them slowing down given this recent photo shoot combining the motorcycle masks, the Jazz Hands toasts coming from the audience and the orange exhaust smoke (cleverly emanating from an offscreen car) to make for an epic Daft Punk tribute concert. Graphic designer Ollie Hoff shared his stylish GTAV fan art with us on Twitter that also received some love on reddit as well. Hoff even made a handy portrait version that works very nicely as a mobile wallpaper

GTA Fan Art: The Illustrations of AmandaLeab and Takengo, Space Monkey Mask Replica & More

Posted on May 19 2014, 10:48am | Author: R* X | Filed Under: Games, Rockstar

This week's pictorial of awesome Grand Theft Auto inspired fan creations features some talented illustrators putting their own distinctive styles on characters and scenes from GTAV, plus an already-amazing work in progress real world replica of the Space Monkey mask, selections from one of our new favorite subreddits and more.

Of course, should you find (or create) any awesome GTA or Rockstar-related art or photos, make sure to send them our way via Mouthoff and remember to follow us at instagram.com/rockstargames for all our latest official pics.

Artist AmandaLeab has been sharing her fantastic original GTAV fan art over the past few weeks at loseranthems.tumblr. With some awesomely fun details (like the Billy Ripken-esque hidden expletive on Trevor's boot or Franklin's tats above) and a very distinctive style with bold use of color and a healthy obsession with Trevor's days as a pilot. Amanda recently tweeted, "never gonna stop drawin' trevor" and we certainly can't wait to see what else she has in store.

This one could easily be mistaken for a Snapmatic photo at first glance, but "Public Transportation is art" above is actually a hand-made speed-drawing by deviantARTist Biohazard-kirby celebrating Cargobob hijinks in GTAV. "At some point when we were trying to free fall in a bus, my buddy Swag mentioned how 'majestic' the bus looked in the sunset... The drawing originally took about 33 minutes." Watch the speed painting video capture on YouTube to see how it came together.

Brazilian deviantARTist and longtime Rockstar fan H8orSaints took his infatuation with Space Monkey to another level when he commissioned local craftsmen Mundo Mágico Artes to build him a custom replica. Above is the already amazing work in progress bust for the mask along with an original piece of fan art H8orSaints  had drawn. Have a look through his DA gallery and you'll see some other awesome stuff he's made over the years including a munitions-based Rockstar logo treatment and this easy to assemble Bully Papercraft (give it a shot, we did!). We're looking forward to seeing how the final mask turns out.

A super fun GTAV tiling pattern by Kuneho on tumblr. In the spirit of collaboration, she's also shared the transparent original so you can toy with it and make your own edits, only asking that you please don't forget to source.

Ash, known on tumblr as takengo, has a great, somewhat vintage comic strip style in these light-hearted renditions and scenes of Michael, Trevor and Franklin. In "mr. orange blue n green" above, takengo uses each of their special ability colors to depict them in Rat-Pack-esque fashion, and "trey n tracey doodles" is a piece imagining a silly moment between Trevor, toddler Tracey and Michael.

WASTED
Finally, we've really been getting a kick out of some of the fun 'Wasted' GIFs that have been floating around, and the r/WastedGifs subreddit is a treasure trove. Here's a couple below, but do hit up the subreddit for so many more.

#ThanksCargobob Snapmatic Photo Contest Winners

Posted on May 12 2014, 12:52pm | Author: R* X | Filed Under: Games

We asked Snapmatic shutterbugs and Cargobob pranksters everywhere to commandeer the versatile military helicopter and put it to use to capture the wildest, most creative and most unique Cargobob drop off shots in the official #ThanksCargobob Snapmatic Photo Contest.

Big congratulations go out to each of our five winners who receive a cool GTA$1M plus a Grand Theft Auto V Prize Pack of coveted game gear. Have a look below to enjoy these clever and skillfully dropped winning placements - and definitely keep an eye out for our next Snapmatic photo contest to be announced soon.

"Beer Run" by Jimmy.Desanta
Social Club member Jimmy.Desanta and the Bobby Dazzlas sent the Cargobob out on a Piswasser run for their Crew beach party. That's one seriously practical chopper.

"Pillbox Hill" by PADRINOxX
Not only is this one such an impressively stacked and packed arrangement of buses here, but it's also expertly composed with some lovely filtering to boot. We can't help but wonder now just how high others may endeavor to take this precarious game of sky-high bus Jenga in the future. Metagame alert.

"Del Perro Beach" by dukelito
"You must be this tall to drive on the Leviathan..." GTA veterans may recall the crazy effort it took to get a car on to the tracks of The Screamer in Liberty City. This time, the Cargobob swoops in to the Del Perro Pier to ensure everyone gets a ride.

"GTA Stonehenge" by KnoxNerd
There's one ancient mystery solved. #ThanksCargobob!

"Rockford Hills" by STEAM_P0WERED
Get it? Jacques Cousteau never had days like this.

The latest collection of impressive GTAV-inspired fan art includes Michael as an introspective sniper, adult tea time, Trevor and Mr. Raspberry Jam's complex relationship, tributes to Wade, and more.

As always, if you find (or make) any awesome GTA or Rockstar-related creations, make sure to send them our way via Mouthoff and remember to follow us at instagram.com/rockstargames for all our latest official pics.

deviantARTist demitasse-lover has been sharing some anime-inspired GTAV fan art on starfleettrambo.tumblr, including this one of Michael waiting for an opportunity to snipe.

Formerly featured for touching scenarios involving GTAV characters, ringelrei.tumblr continues to deliver. With the caption had a mighty need to draw them on tiny plastic chairs, Amanda catches Michael and Trevor's "tea" time.

Somebody save that teddy bear. Korean artist 6 myrtle on Tumblr has been making some awesome GTAV character fan art, including this hilarious depiction of Trevor and Mr. Raspberry Jam's complicated relationship.

Dutch illustrator Menno Wittebrood, known on Social Club as Tapirus and the leader of the MUDSTICK Crew, created this awesome advert for his created Deathmatch "Hell Hole in One". Definitely give it a try - when Trevor Philips sends you an invitation, you better make sure you accept it.

Radiopappa, featured previously for an elaborate GTAV x Bullworth alternate universe, imagines a young Trevor, Michael and Amanda heading to their first Love Fist concert.

Wade-crazy artist and self-proclaimed member of the "Wade Defense Squad" Peepeeinmybumhole highlights one of GTAV's unsung heroes in these inspired pieces

"...No problem kid..." ArtistBlockHead on Tumblr shared this contribution to radiopappa's GTAV High School Alternate universe with Wade and Trevor's first meeting.

A simple moment between Michael, Tracey and Jimmy way before all of the family drama of GTAV, imagined by artist WHOLAHAYOLA on Tumblr.

GTAV Fan Pics: Innovative Photography Projects, Adventures of the r/GTAA Subreddit & More

In this week’s round up of awesome fan pics and Snapmatic wizardry, check out some truly inventive GTAV photography projects, as well as the continuing photoshoot adventures of the prolific r/GTAA (GTA Adventures) subreddit.

As always, if you've got something great that you think deserves recognition here at the Newswire, make sure to send it our way via Mouthoff and follow us at instagram.com/rockstargames for all the latest official pics.

Crossroads of Reality is an innovative GTAV photography project by Quebec artist Benoit Paillé (who also made that hypnotic 'Hyper Timelapse' video recently featured here at the Newswire), blurring the line between real world still life photography and the virtual atmosphere of Los Santos. In the words of Paillé, "The photographic performance of this project is to overlay a material reality with a virtual one, erasing the border between the two worlds. It is a response to the proliferation of visual projects that take place in virtual spaces. It is a questioning about the notion of border and territory. A mix of two distinct realities into a single image. I want to show that we can use a virtual space in conceptual photography and approach these areas with the same sensitivity as the physical space." Very cool stuff and the results, as you can see above, are stunning. To learn more about his process, check out full digital installation at Behance and watch the documentary on Vimeo.

Also making innovations with GTAV photography is blogger and artist, Stoic Decay who stitched together Snapmatic photos to create these striking panoramas with a fish eye lens effect. Click the images above to appreciate them in high-res.

And now check out just a few of the incredible photoshoot productions of the r/GTAA (GTA Adventures) subreddit (aka the GTAAdventures Crew on Social Club), who've been challenging each other to recreate some of their favorite scenes from movies, TV shows, album covers and more. Here, they epically stage the final scene from Gone in 60 Seconds (2000) and posted to Reddit an impressive frame-by-frame comparison.

Recently featured at Kotaku and jokingly dubbed Park Side of the Moon by commenter LiteralPhilosopher, P1zzaBagels from r/gtaa takes car art to another dimension in honor of Pink Floyd.

Even the Little Miss Sunshine poster gets the GTA Online photoshoot treatment. GTAA redditor, Kyle_Skinner was kind enough to share some of the fun behind the scenes moments from the making of this well-synched shot.

Lightning struck at least twice here as both lemurdecatta of the Vice City Crime Mob and r/GTAA's Kyle Skinner suited up to take on a Tarantino classic. The redditors even played out the tip scene in the comments as a bonus.

We've seen a few well-played recreations of the iconic Beatles' Abbey Road album cover - above is a great version shared on Instagram by  mrrauf_98 aka VelievRauf of the Lastalay Crew - and also check out Decimation_Jones' modern take and P1zzaBagels' accurate depiction.

Check out a latest pictorial of amazing fan art creations including the work of radiopappa who’s been making a really fun Bullworth alternate universe series imagining a crossover with the characters of Grand Theft Auto V. There’s also some bizarrely brilliant Michael, Franklin and Trevor spirit animal sketches, a homemade illustration of LS Rock Radio’s Captain Loggins at work and more.

As always, if you find (or make) any cool GTA or Rockstar-related creations, make sure to send them our way via Mouthoff and remember to follow us at instagram.com/rockstargames for all our latest official pics.

Presenting a few selections from the inspired radiopappa on tumblr from a super fun GTAV x Bullworth alternate universe series. You’ve got Trevor as “their weird townie friend” and his “wolf pack” that are on “shaky terms with the greasers.” You’ve got Michael as the Bullhorns quarterback struggling in his relationship with his high school girlfriend Amanda who’s “tired of listening to his corny movie quotes.” And of course star student Franklin Clinton and his nerdy friend Lamar who’s “always getting beat up.”  Love it.

Definitely click this one above to see it in more detail. In vintage comic strip fashion, artist Misia posted this original piece at the onemagpie tumblr of “Lester, Jimmy, Patricia, Davy, Steve, Ron, Wade with strippers, Trace, Amanda, Chop, Lamar, Frankie, Trev and Mikey” with the hashtag ” #i could draw more characters but it would be one long ass drawing.”

A bizarrely brilliant rendition of GTAV characters as spirit animals, with respectively Trevor as a “mangy mutt”, Michael as a penguin, Lamar as a gator and Franklin as a tiger. Credit: yiq.tumblr

Artist Ricky Yagawa of Tokyo drew this imagining of a young Trevor and Michael saying “Recently I finished Grand Theft Auto V and I’m totally crazy about this game. Especially I was attracted to the relationship of mid-age crisis bastards, Michael and Trevor. I really want to know how their golden age is and how crazy Young Michael is…”

An excerpt of just a few panels from a poetic and melancholic GTAV graphic novel style photo series entitled Dear Mom and Dad. created by Redditor Berdu, also known for this awesome Rebel advert and previously featured here at the Newswire for that clever KITT from Knight Rider gif.

500th Headshot!!! is  the first of deviantARTist mattwhogben's Grand Theft Auto Online inspired comic series, which follows Matt, aka HoggyHogben leader of the Crazy Blammers Crew. After his 500th headshot unlocking the intimidating face tat pictured in game above, Matt meets up with his second in command, Joe on to get his hard earned ink. It didn't take too long to take his 501st headshot out on a Crew naysayer.

I’m Captain Loggins and you’re on a cruise!” Big time Kenny Loggins fan and deviantARTist Jonathan Kautzsch aka Atteez envisions Captain Loggins behind the mic live from the broadcasting booth of Los Santos Rock Radio. “He’s kicking back and relaxing as you can see. I tried to make it look like he enjoys being a host. After all, he’s given an iFruit computer and a great view of the city of Los Santos. And a beanbag.” Classic Kenny.
