Check out our Behind the Scenes documentary of the recording and creation of the Red Dead Redemption soundtrack. Bill Elm and Woody Jackson, along with a team of accomplished session players put together a captivating reimagination of the old American West, and we caught it all on video with interviews and insight from the players as they recorded stem after emotive stem for the interactive in game soundtrack.

Watch the video in the embedded player above or see it in HD at the Red Dead Redemption website or the Videos section of the Rockstar Games site.

Rockstar is the godfather of the gaming world...
red dead redemption is the best game ever to be made. the online gamplay has a major contribution to its succes.. my concern is whether rockstar will be able 2 beat this game in the future..?

@R* Y I love how you do these behind the scenes videos, and the old western world you created to become Red Dead Redemption is just simply incredible, and would be awesome if you could make "behind scenes" and show us the production of the world and environment of the game. Watching this video really gives me more respect for these people, looks like a real difficult field to work in. Thanks Rockstar.

I have gotta say I have played many a games with some oustanding soundtracts that really captured the essence of the game. But let me tell ya. These tracts envolked so much feeling and depth into the game more so than, quite honestly any other. From when marston was in peril to the somber sad ending(s). I really sat back and was enriched by the score. Hell, it even brought back memories of 60's,70's, spagetti westerns. I am looking foward to purchasing this whole score so I can have it to re-envolk my emotions. Of not only the game, but the trials and tribulations I went through while on deployment. (un-related) But you guy's the whole damn lot of ya's did a hell of a job! Hat's off to ya fella's.

Thanks Rockstar for a Superb Soundtrack and nothing but great sounds and dedication put in it, I honestly didn't know how much depth you got into with your sounds and the instruments you used untill I saw this video, I never even noticed half the instruments you experimented in this video in the game, maybe I should pay more attention next time! :P

@MikeMellow Let's avoid starting any arguments here, the next Red Dead PlayStation 3 event is September 9th.

@StuntmanSeth Ha - glad you're enjoying.

Thanks to the Rockstar for yet again surpassing expectations. One problem though every time I start a different game I immediately begin to miss RDR or GTA4, you guys know how to keep me coming back.
MikeMellowJuly 30, 2010 at 12:51am
Shut up with the next GTA game asking. really? GTA4 came out two years ago and you want them to already make another gta? woow! quit it with pressuring Rockstar making a new game. okay? they don't have plans on making a new one okay?
and this is Read Dead Redemption section so take your gta asking somewhere else.

Also Rockstar when will the next event for Read Dead Redemption ps3 happen?
August?

@BoochArt

If you wanna play RDR buy a console and dont get Rockstar sidetracked from making the next GTA. Come on Rockstar, everyone is waiting for the next GTA. Sure, Max Payne 3 and LA noire too, but especially GTA. and it better come out by 2011.

Good stuff. Any plans to bring the soundtrack over to RockBand or the RBN? - Would love to sing Deadman's Gun, Compass & Far Away.
dylaaaanJuly 29, 2010 at 2:08pm
thanx any ways rockstar im just saying that would be cool if you guys could sell those pre order bunos items and maybe you should mention that to hoever is in charge of making the dlc because me and a lot of other ppl i know would love them

I work in the same field but not as a composer. I am on the production side. I have to admit that the music takes away from the MP some and I will never understand the choice of using jazz style drums when you fight the law (again MP) but overall, the score is very unique. A great array of instruments chosen!

ps. Got love the Pro Tools shots in the video ;-)
