Dutch Gamers Posse Up with Red Dead Redemption to Break World Record

Twice during the past year, Grand Theft Auto IV was used to break the Guinness World Record for longest period of time playing a video game, most recently by David Scherer from Clarksville, Tennessee.  Now a group of six Dutch gamers have successfully broken that record, using Red Dead Redemption. 

Congratulations to Sven de Vries, Renzo Bos, Robbie van Eijkeren, Marcel van Waardenburg, Edward Leest and Maykel Leest who simultaneously set the new mark at 50 hours this past week.  For more details, check out http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/07/20/breaking-a-world-record-for-gaming/.

    this has nothing to do with the record but i want to know when they will make another gta and i love video games but who would spend a long time holding a controller and stareing at tv screen.(i love video gamees)
    but honestly the longest i ever spent was 8 hours at the max but it was playing gtaiv libertycity stories about a week after it came out.

      No that is what I call dedication! I think I would get bored after about 6 or 7 hours of continuous play and would probably give up. My longest gaming session is about that time but then I get bored and my eyes hurt and I realise that I should go outside and get some fresh air :)

        Well it wasn't all official, but i got them all beat by a day... I know for sure that i have gone for 3 days straight once. Two days isn't that impressive. Done that a few times. Around that third day you get really angry at everything and the worst part is that your eyes feel like they're burning.

        You really gotta be focused on objectives or goals to pull it off and keep your mind active. I remember somewhere around the 2nd day i had a few times where i got a boost of energy out of nowhere that felt like i was completely awake/rested then a couple hours later i felt exhausted again. Lots of highs and lows. It's definitely not something you want to do on purpose especially with caffeine raising your blood pressure and making your heart work harder.

                            You are completely wrong. You probably have A.D.D which in that case it WOULDN'T speed you up, but would make it easier for you to concentrate. That's it's purpose. But for people that simply use it for recreation are getting high and it does have the effect of keeping people up for days and even weeks depending upon the user. I don't feel like getting into the chemical structure and its similarities to cocaine. Do your own research.

                              My longest non-stop gaming session was probably 2 and a half hours with a lot of patience and dedication xD.
                              But seriously these people are crazy... for christ sakes how did they feel after getting up for the first time in 50 hours? Oh my god what day is today? What happened while i was out? Lol if i was trying to break any guiness record this one would surely be one of my last picks.
