Rockstar Game Tips: Red Dead Redemption's Free Roam Challenges Part 3 (Lawbringer and Survivalist)

Posted on July 7 2010, 7:39pm | Author: R* Y | Filed Under: Games, Social Club

Rounding out our series dedicated to the five Free Roam Challenges in Red Dead Redemption is today's entry covering the categories of Lawbringer and Survivalist.  Completing challenges is one of many ways for you and your friends to gain experience and new titles for your online characters.  Be sure to check out our guide on Hunter and Sharpshooter challenges as well as on Outlaw challenges.

To view Free Roam Challenges in the game, enter multiplayer.  Pause the game, choose 'Journal' and then 'Free Roam'.

  • Lawbringer I
    • Complete the Pike's Basin Gang Hideout to earn 250 XP and the title Cow Lover.
      • Tip: Use cover behind objects such as rocks and have a designated posse member take out enemies from above.

    • Complete the Fort Mercer Gang Hideout to earn 250 XP and the title Shining Knight.
      • Tip: Use the surrounding hills to snipe as many enemies as possible before going through the front gates.

    • Complete the Tumbleweed Gang Hideout to earn 250 XP and the title Weed Wacker.
      • Tip: Use dynamite for the enemies hiding in the church.  Carefully make your way into the basement door of the mansion to take out enemies while another posse member throws dynamite and fire bottles inside the front door.

    • Complete the Gaptooth Breach Gang Hideout to earn 250 XP and the title Gold Thief.
      • Tip: Be careful around red TNT crates and barrels in the mine.  Best to use them as weapons against enemies or just blow them up when you are a safe distance away.

    • Complete the Tesoro Azul Gang Hideout to earn 250 XP and the title Saphire.
      • Tip: Reinforcements with throwing knives and fire bottles will flood in after you take out a certain number of enemies.  Use buildings as cover.

    • Complete the Twin Rocks Gang Hideout to earn 250 XP and the title Gemini.
      • Tip: Always take out the two enemies on the tall rocks first, followed by the enemy on the roof of the building.  They have much better accuracy than those on the ground.

    • Complete the Nosalida Gang Hideout to earn 250 XP and the titles Exit Wound and Lawbringer.
      • Tip: Be careful entering small buildings with enemies inside.  Some carry shotguns and one blast could be the end of you.  Dynamite and fire bottles are recommended.

    • Complete the Solomon's Folly Gang Hideout to earn 250 XP and the title Half-A-Baby.  Only available on PlayStation 3.
      • Tip: Take out as many enemies as possible from a distance.  Watch your radar for any incoming reinforcements.
  • Lawbringer II
    • Complete Pike's Basin and Twin Rocks without dying to earn 250 XP and the title Civil Servant.
      • Tip: Patience and cover will allow you to win this without dying.  For Pike's Basin, stick with your posse and appoint a leader.  For Twin Rocks, use sticks of dynamite on the reinforcements that flood out of the building.

    • Complete Nosalida and Tesoro Azul without dying to earn 250 XP and the title Deputy Lawman.
      • Tip: Use cover for both of these and be sure to take your time.  For Tesoro Azul, take out all rooftop enemies before entering the gates.

    • Complete Tumbleweed and Fort Mercer without dying to earn 250 XP and the title Lucky Lawbringer.
      • Tip: For Tumbleweed, pick the barn or the church to attack first with your posse.  Splitting up might help clear enemies faster, but it could also result in dying due to inadequate backup.  For Fort Mercer, patience is key.  Approach enemies in buildings with caution as one shotgun blast could be the end of you.

    • Complete Tesoro Azul using thrown weapons and melee attacks only to earn 250 XP and the title Crimestopper.
      • Tip: Once you're in a building, use it for cover.  It will take time to win this one, but remember to save your throwing knives for those you can't reach with other projectiles.

    • Complete Gaptooth Breach using thrown weapons and melee attacks only to earn 250 XP and the title No Gun Needed.
      • Tip: Same as above, don't waste your throwing knives on those you can attack with the hunting knife.  Use fire bottles and dynamite on groups, not single enemies.

    • Complete Gaptooth Breach and Solomon's Folly without dying to earn 250 XP and the title Immune Lawbringer.  Only available on PlayStation 3.
      • Tip: Conserve ammunition in your best weapons, and if you run out then be sure to look on your radar for an ammo refill point.
  • Lawbringer III
    • Complete Pike's Basin, Twin Rocks, Fort Mercer and Tumbleweed in 24 hours to earn 250 XP and the title Restless Justice.
      • Tip: Gather a large posse and appoint a leader.  Watch your radar to make sure all posse members are sticking together and aren't spreading out.

    • Complete Pike's Basin, Twin Rocks, Fort Mercer and Tumbleweed in 36 hours and without dying to earn 250 XP and the title Master Lawbringer.
      • Tip: Again, gather a posse, appoint a leader, use headsets, strategize...show your posse you've got skills.

    • Complete Gaptooth Breach, Solomon's Folly, Tesoro Azul and Nosalida in 24 hours to earn 250 XP and the title Dirty Justice.  Only available on PlayStation 3.
      • Tip: Make a plan for which Gang Hideouts you are attacking and in what order and lead your posse to victory.

    • Complete Gaptooth Breach, Solomon's Folly, Tesoro Azul and Nosalida in 36 hours and without dying to earn 250 XP and the title Untouchable Gunslinger.  Only available on PlayStation 3.
      • Tip: If you think you're about to die, roll while aiming by pressing X on Xbox 360 or Square on PlayStation 3.  Find cover and ask for help from your posse.

  • Survivalist I
    • Collect six Wild Feverfew, found in Hennigan's Stead and Cholla Springs to earn 250 XP and the title Wild Fever.

One of the shooting challenges on Xbox360 single player is broken. You have to shoot more than 4 birds in the alloted time. The other day i shot 8 birds in time and still failed the challenge.

speaking of tips... does anyone understand the I KNOW YOU stranger mission?
                • OldGunon July 8 2010, 11:23pmReply
You know why everyone is airing their problems via the blogs? 01. These blog responses are actually read by a person. 02. It takes forever for support to respond to any emails.

People will always defer to communication methods that get results.

Wow no forums.Anyway are you going to fix the game before before adding more problems?
I went to start a mission with Landon Ricketts today and instead of starting the mission I was dashboarded.
I've never seen that happen on any game before. The glitches are making a good game bad.
