Today we're happy to announce that Red Dead Redemption will be released as part of Microsoft’s Xbox One Backward Compatibility program this coming Friday, July 8th.

Starting on Friday, every Red Dead Redemption Xbox 360 owner will be able to play the game directly on their Xbox One, regardless of which version of the game they own (Red Dead Redemption, Undead Nightmare and Red Dead Redemption: Game of the Year Edition). And for those who have yet to experience it, the game will be available to purchase on Friday from the Games Store on Xbox One.

Stay tuned to the Newswire for more details.

Its great to hear so many are looking forward to this Friday when the Xbox 360 version of Red Dead Redemption will be available on Xbox One with backward compatibility.

If you already own any Xbox 360 disc-based version of Red Dead Redemption, you will just need to insert the disc into your Xbox One on Friday and the console will begin downloading the game to your hard drive. If you have the digital version of the game on Xbox 360, it will automatically show up in the Ready to Install section on your Xbox One on Friday. For more details about Xbox 360 backward compatibility on Xbox One, check out the official Xbox page at http://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/backward-compatibility

@anasksh, @ericwizardfatazz, @SYLD_WolfMortum, @captiankirk63, @quigonjin and everyone else asking about availability on other platforms – Red Dead Redemption backward compatibility is only available with Xbox One.

congratulations to rockstar who has sold record braking numbers since Xbox one made the game backwards compatible (record breaking for old game), but still refuse to fix multiplayer or even admit there's a problem. Their strategy has been to deflect! I was referred to network connectivity issues, others to reset their cache on the console. This is completely unbelievable. I for one want to contact Microsoft and see if we can have this title removed from the store. This might be cause for a class action lawsuit, unlike that bs case brought up recently. Rockstar, you're acting like... Well a rockstar. It's unfortunate too. I will likely be burning all your records and t-shirts and concert ticket stubs! Oh wait, wrong rant.. U know what I mean. Seriously though, I've never seen a company treat its customers and loyal fans in such a dispicable manner. At least admit you have problem, apologize, see how you can make it better. It's not hard.

@kermitEFRog393 PS4 has no backward compatibility with PS3 games, and as explained above your post... "Red Dead Redemption backward compatibility is only available with Xbox One".

Hello. I didn't even realise you could load the 360 REd dead in the xboxone. Now you might have been asked this already. I got the xbox360 red dead redemption collectors edition. Golden guns and the super dropper horse. Now is there a way to get to use that on the xobxone. Once I've loaded it on it??. Many thanks

@chrisd1965 Do you still have your 360? If so transfer your RDR save files to cloud, note if you have undead nightmare you'll need to transfer 3 types of save files, one for RDR single player, one for mp & one for undead nightmare. Also manage RDR on xb1 and check if there are any dlc to install. And last but not least you can check what's installed on RDR's title screen.
        • It doesn't work. Patch the glitch where if you change sessions it doesnt drag the NPC's with you. Also the NPC's name is eldin grubb he is the undertaker for armadillo.

I had RDR on my PS3 back in the day with all the dlcs. I have an Xbox one now and i didnt get the digital download. Shouldnt my account still have RDR on it if both my PS3 and my Xbox one accounts are linked to my Rockstar account?
          • I'd like to download the DLC for my Xbox One (I do not have the original 360 DLC or game). Is the DLC also compatible with the Xbox One or is it limited to the original game?

Ok I'm just gonna say this. I'm about to answer everyone's questions. Red dead redemption multiplayer has been broken for 3 years on all platforms. That's Xbox and play station. 3 years! and for those of you asking for it to come out on PS4 it's a lot worse on there, believe me. it's funny really how I was in the chat when red dead got announced for BC It looked like I was the only one who was asking if the servers are fixed while everyone else was hype about it. Now look at the chat going crazy over a 3 year old broken game. This isn't a new issue. Rockstar do know about it and will do nothing about it. back in 2013 everyone who was playing the game at the time were outraged that the game servers suddenly become unplayable. just like the chat is today it was filled with complaints asking R* to fix it no one got a single response. Better yet they even removed there support number because of the high volume the got on a daily basis. it's a same that R* the company who crate some brilliant games show no respect for the community. RIP, red dead redemption. P.s don't ask for GTAIV, that game is more messed up.

Ok just, been messing around trying to find a fix and think I got it. Start the game in story mode, then go to multi-player. Before I was stuck on a loading screen and couldn't get in the outfitter but I just tried this three times and went straight in a room and the outfitter with no issues at all. Hope this works for you guys as well.

Is anyone having trouble getting into a room?? What about the outfitter? I just keep getting stuck on loading screens and eventually have to reset the game and try again and keep waiting again. All my other games are working fine and others I've talked to said they are having no issues at all. I've had the issue with invisible people, enemies, and being on a horse but others saying I'm not. I've already heard the issue can be fixed by just doing a private session but I can't even get in any session. I'm sure it will be fixed eventually but damn, I have been wanting this on BC since they announced it at E3 but been trying for 3 days now and can't play it all. Makes me wish now I kept my 360. Any help is greatly appreciated if you found other ways and are having the same problems. Game on Players!!

I got the game on my 360, how do I get it to work on my XboxOne? I've put the 360 disc in the One and it say's it's not backwards compatible??
                          • The_Dudeon July 10 2016, 5:31amReplyFlag
@The_Dude Did a hard reboot o fthe XBox One and it's fine now.
                          • TJY1972on July 10 2016, 5:31amReplyFlag
@The_Dude Check if your XB1 requires an update, go to All Settings, System, Console info & updates. Or try restarting your XB1, unplug if neccesary. Also if you still have your 360 and RDR save files I recommend you transfer them to cloud storage for them to work on xb1.
