The Final Stage of the Red Hook Crit This Saturday in Milan
On Saturday, series points leader Neil Bezdek looks to win his third race of this year's Red Hook Criterium and capture the series championship in the final stage taking place in the Bovisa district of Milan, Italy. Bezdek currently holds a 23 point lead over Kyle Murphy, with last year's Red Hook Criterium Milano winner Evan Murphy 26 points back. Stage three winner Stefan Vis is 36 points behind, and still mathematically alive for the championship after his strong showing winning the 3rd stage in Barcelona.
Meanwhile top Italian Francesco Martucci is 9th overall and eager to prove himself on home roads, while former Red Hook Criterium Milano champion Jon Ander Ortuondo from Spain is also confirmed to compete. All in all, stage 4 will feature 200 competitors from 15 countries attempting to qualify for 85 race spots.
The Red Hook Criterium features world-class road racers, track specialists, bike messengers and urban cyclists competing over multiple laps around a short technical circuit. Fixed-gear track bikes are mandatory, requiring riders to possess street-tuned handling skills and high levels of fitness. Check out a video from last year's race below:
