Grand Theft Auto Online Launch Updates

Posted on October 4 2013, 6:06am | Author: R* Q | Filed Under: Social Club, Games

Update: The latest title update for GTA Online is live for PlayStation 3. We're working to have this up for Xbox 360 as soon as possible today.
Thank you everyone for continuing to bear with us since yesterday’s initial roll out of Grand Theft Auto Online – we’re aware that a variety of technical difficulties have made it difficult to get access and that the experience has been a bit less than smooth for many of you who jumped in straight away, so here are a few updates as of this afternoon to keep you all apprised.
At the Rockstar Games Support site, there is a dedicated article listing out the most common technical issues being reported. Things are changing and developing frequently but here are some latest updates as of this afternoon:
  • For PlayStation 3 users, a PlayStation Network server issue was detected that was limiting the amount of possible concurrent users. This was preventing most players from accessing GTA Online altogether and as of this morning, that problem was resolved.
  • There is an issue that is preventing some players from getting through the first tutorial mission across both platforms. Many players have been able to get through this with repeated retries, and we are working on unblocking this for everyone as soon as possible.
  • This morning, we experienced some instability across the GTA Online services which is affecting even people who have progressed beyond the tutorial mission. We are identifying these issues now and are working to restore stability for users as soon as possible.
  • For the time being and until we have been able to get everybody access to GTA Online and things are running smoothly, we have disabled the option of purchasable GTA$ cash packs. Players can however keep on earning GTA$ by pulling off Jobs and other profitable gameplay activities rather than purchasing cash packs.
You can keep updated on these and other common issues by subscribing to the GTA Online Launch Status Rockstar Support article at Subscribers will be sent an automatic notification as updates happen.
All of these initial technical issues will be ironed out as soon as we can. Please know that the entire team here at Rockstar and all of our relevant partners are and will continue to be working around the clock to get the experience to be as smooth as possible, as soon as possible.
In the meantime, for anyone experiencing technical problems, we encourage you to report them to our dedicated Support Team at and at This is the best place to get direct technical help and we are constantly looking at the most commonly reported issues there to resolve.
For those of you who have been getting into and playing GTA Online, we also encourage you to please share your gameplay experience feedback with us at so that we may know what aspects you’re liking and disliking to help guide how the game will grow and evolve past this initial period.
Thanks again everyone for your patience and your support – we will continue to keep you updated.

      Continued from last post

      9. Better support and detailed response from Rockstar - sometimes what I get back doesn't make sense to me or anyone else.
      10. More updates - what we or our group looks for are the updates and what are we going to get - keep the players interest high -
      11. Expand the map or playing area another island or a portion of the mainland which can be constantly updated. - give access to more buildings - prone position for sniping - hiding , move more items to gain access to different areas.
      12. Role playing - who has more power - the cops, the general player population - will everyone want to be cops? Not a bad idea but you'd have to have them go to the police academy and how would you have police in every lobby - I think dress up is good but I think you have a lot of exciting possibilities but are limited by cpu speed and interface mechanisms -
      13. Listen to the players - be fair - there are a lot of people that are whiners in the game a lot of younger players that we have tried to mentor but they don't listen very well - a lot of false reporting - and I think your position on blowing up cars is not justified - if a player is constantly going after another player via a car, truck, plane , helicopter , the only solution a player may have is to blow them up - why is there a penalty of being a bad sport when the other player is creating the situation. - I personally accept the monetary fine for blowing up something - but why are we being called a bad sport - what you have created is just that - this is a dog eat dog world we don't play nice except between online players and crews - that's a key point in the game we are thugs - so why penalize player for doing what you are promoting?? Maybe you should have Lobby Monitors that goes to different games and Lobbies to see and sometimes help to resolve issue and reduce hacking. There are some glitches - we all use them if we find them - some are pretty cool - but I have been the target of a hack and have had a 3 story item on my head which is ridiculous - I don't hack - don't want to hack but you need a method of reporting that you can monitor and get the hackers that are causing problems. Again while not a hacker myself - I think that some hackers do provide value back to Rockstar. Maybe have a method of utilizing these hackers to help enhance the game experience.

I am sure that there are thousands of suggestions better than those proposed here - again: listen, enhance and apply some of these suggestions while we give up the rights to any suggestions perhaps an acknowledgement to the player would be nice name something after a player that makes a large suggestion and contribution. Perhaps have a contest that will keep things exciting, about the best enhancement suggestion and a grand prize, prizes or something.

      Thank you,

        Good morning Part 1

I have read some of the posts here and there are a lot of great ideas. We have a small group of online friends and family that plays together when we can. We love playing but feel that you can do better by providing some additional objectives and specialty items. Born to Sin.

        1. A Mall or Two - was suggested and it works you have a mall but no shops in it.
        2. More cars - more cool cars -
        3. Something that our group has discussed: a heads-up display while in third person - many of us like the first person option but we are so used to the third person mode that it's difficult to change your viewing perspective - we would like to see a typical heads ups display or a display that shows our current speed in whatever car we are in. Many of the tasks and missions in GTA requires us to judge how fast we are going to perform jumps and land on elevated surfaces. We also just want to see how fast we are going bragging rights.
        4. Interaction between players - we would like to go the Casino, a club (not the strip club) and just hang out and have a beer play pool - but how far should we go on a personal level - I'll leave to the wisdom of the Rock Star Gods.
        5. More clothing options - uniforms
        6. Enhanced character manipulation - change parents and looks - how about plastic surgery??
        7. More missions - undersea missions or missions that includes missions underwater - suggested by another player but gives us new challenges - missions that payout more in $$ and RP's. More complex missions - like Heists - Cruise Ships - underground missions -
        8. Ability to share money or items that we don't want with other players, sell our stuff back to Rockstar or to other GTA players - this is a big item - clothing - cars, tanks, planes, etc. - buying items means that we should be able to sell them no matter what the item is - we sale cars why not everything - it gets us to buy more and interact more with other players - have a Craigslist - when you look at a player on the iFruit have another field for items for sale.

I know that a lot of people are already requesting that the duke o death should added to GTA Online, and I also think it should. People always say that the car is to over powered, but it really isn't. I can see that owning the car would prevent getting shot from the left, right and back but how is that exactly OP? If you had a bounty placed on yourself and you were driving the duke o death, then people could still use explosives, attack vehicles or a minigun to destroy the car. It's not indestructible. It just makes bounty hunting a little harder for your enemies, which is exactly like being in a tank. It's also not like you're the only bounty in the session anyways, and if you are, then you're just protecting yourself. Driving the duke o death limits drive-by options like grenades, sticky bombs, tear gas, ect. You also can't shoot from the left, right or back with a gun, which I think is a good trade off with the car. I'm also aware that the bull bars on the front push other cars out of the way, which isn't really OP either. It would be the only vehicle in the game with that ability. It's like being pit-maneuvered by cops. We could give them a taste of their own medicine online. If you guys are adding the armored karin karuma to GTA Online, than why not the duke o death? That is if you're adding the armored karuma to online as well. Thanks for taking the time to read this long paragraph. It would be really cool if this vehicle was added to GTA Online.

I know its really small but I LOVE messing around with the forklift and it could lift more that would be cool. Most of the places where it spawns it cant lift even half the pallets there. Im not saying it needs to lift semis but if it had a higher threshold for weight, that would be a small tweak I imagine?

My friend an I have played the mission called "Effin' Lazers" on the PS3 and we had brought the Lazers to the airport and my character goes out from the Lazer and it says "Get in the Lazer". When I go to the Lazer, my character goes out from the Lazer automaticly and it still says that "Get in the Lazer" and the same thing happens all the time, even we have played it 2 times. So could you fix that?

I have an idea for grand theft auto online ps4 and it's not just me who think this but most of the gta community want real jobs online like you can have illegal jobs and legal jobs the legal jobs would consist of being a cop and arresting other players, working at burgershot, being a stripper, being a taxi driver, selling cars or even working at the cinema these jobs would earn the player money also the legal jobs are just your usual job like selling drugs, stealing cars, robing shops and banks. This would be an amazing idea for next gen I feel like this would make players feel more involved and it would be realistic this idea would be extremely fun

I hope you take the time to read this and think about it thanks

It would be cool if you could get your crew tag on your bulletproof vests like in the police or swat :)

I think that GTA definitely needs more, but gradually as time goes on. Here are some ideas from me and some other other people that would make the game more, fun:

                                  1. Sandbox mode. This mode will be for having an unlimited amount of money and being able to do what ever you want with it. For specifically cars and houses. I would personally love to be able to have any car I want, as much cars as I'd like, and customized the way I'd like it. It would include all cars, from previous and future updates, ones that are already in the game, and ones that were created but never put into the game. I personally would love it because i wouldn't have to worry about grinding for money and levels just to get one car i want before, who knows when, it will be taken out. It would be about getting cars people want but not being able to get it because of level restrictions. People would be able to have fun with it and get to customize and drive all the cars in the game but they wouldn't be able to bring those cars into Single Player or Multiplayer. It's a great way for people to enjoy the specific factors of the game/cars without always worrying about money and levels.
                                  2. Police mode. This mode would be for having a chance to be the cop. How this would work is that you would first, be able to choose what kind of vehicle/helicopter you would like to drive/fly. Then you could accept calls for things like robberies, high speed car chases, etc. You would also be able to pull people over. Once you do so, you could go up to the persons car, ask to see their ID, and see if their wanted for anything, if they are, arrest them, if they arnt, then you could send them on their way or write them a ticket. You would also be able to call backup just to sit their and assist you and if they drive off and a police chase starts up, the other officers would actually see you as one of their fellow police officers. This mode would add a whole new thing to GTA and I think that it should be added in with either Sandbox mode, or to Solo mode.
                                  3. Paramedic/Fire Fighter mode: This mode would be just like the Police mode, but obviously with different things such as saving people from death/injury or putting out fires. Alot more people would play GTA with those 3 extra modes. You could also put the 3 modes together and have the option in Solo mode.
                                  4. A neon lights upgrade for underneath cars.
                                  5. Brass Knuckles
                                  6. Skate Boards
                                  7. Add a mall
                                  8. Stickers for cars
                                  9. Pets
                                  10. Night vision goggles
                                  11. Interior Vehicle Customization
                                  12. Bulletproof window upgrade for cars
                                  13. Add a speedometer on screen so you can see how fast you're going and have the option to toggle it on and off.
                                  14. Be able to store Police Cars, Fire Trucks and Ambulances in our garage. I would definitely play GTA more if those were a factor of the game. Also, be able to customize them, not such as the color but the wheels, engine, brakes, etc. Also, be able to add and remove lights. I would love that.
Thanks for reading my comment Rockstar and other players.

                                    Dear, RockStar
i have a very great idea for Gta Online to make it last longer. I personally think you guys could benefit from A Role Play System in Gta Online. This would not only bring life back into the game but would excel on the new gen consoles.
With 30 people in 1 server a lot can happen but when people are given roles to chose from excitement and entertainment grow. Just think about Arma III, The "Altas Life Mod" has given this game lots of fun along with people coming back. Gta has more potential with enhanced graphics,a huge map,and a versatile environment. There could be roles such as:
Drug Dealers (They sell Narcotics of course)
Police (patrol the city and stop gang fights as well as robbery maybe even ticket people)
Gangsters (different gangs within a server so you could fight to be on top while dogging cops)
                                    Paramedics(Standard Emt revives everyone)
Civilians(go out and get jobs and earn money to buy what they want)
                                    Fire Fighters(Put out fires)
And much more. Ive barley scratched the surface and hope you will at least think about adding this into the game at some point.
