Vintage Vice City Stunt Videos (via YouTube)

One of the earliest Vice stunt videos was Losing Control: Rise of the Stunts. Seminal!

Long before the days of Social Club TV and e-z video editor tools, the O.G.s of the Grand Theft Auto fan community were shocking and awe'ing with amazing homemade compilations of GTA stunt videos - a craze that really kicked off with the addition of motorcycles to the fleet of available transportation in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and all the nutty tricks you could do with them. Pretty slick especially for the time, we've been having fun taking a look back at some of the best ones still available for viewing out there thanks to YouTube - outlandish death-defying (most of the time) vehicle tricks across Vice City with taxis, speedboats, yachts, sportscars and of course lots of two-wheeled action. As part of our celebration of the 10th anniversary of Vice City this season, enjoy a few of these vintage highlight reels...

Vice City: Miss This

Decan's Auto Stunt Reel was one of the very first Vice City stunt videos released, and contains a bunch of stunts that might seem tame by today's standards, but certainly helped to lay the groundwork for Vice City stuntin'. GrinDSouL's Extreme Cabbing is another original from 2003, as was James Gunn's and The Cube's Losing Control: Rise of the Stunts. As an idea of how different things were in making these videos just ten years ago (still a couple years before YouTube launched and before digital cameras were commonplace), we found one by Stoudimaire and Sphinxvc ViceX Stunt Video that was captured and edited together using VHS recordings of PS2 gameplay. Old world craftsmanship!

Vice City Tribute. (Warning: Some story spoilers are shown in this video.)

In late 2003, Vice City Tribute from long-running GameSpy fansite PlanetGTA, posed a new concept... gather replay files from multiple stunters in an effort to make a truly community-fueled video - crowdsourcing ahead of its time. One of the first fan videos to remove the flashing "REPLAY" wording using a homemade text editor and featuring dramatic film trailer music, Vice City Tribute mixed story footage and stunting to great effect. This ultimately led to Vice City: Miss This, the montage featured just above, and tons of other stunting videos to follow. We also stumbled upon GTACOMAU's YouTube channel that contains a treasure trove of vintage Vice clips, including one particularly difficult stunt challenge:

This might look easy, but give it a try and see if you have what it takes to get up on the billboard using a PCJ-600. No mods!

We also encourage everyone to check out, part of Gamerzworld's Rockstar Nexus fansite network, as a fairly definitive place for an ongoing look at the latest and greatest vids from today's stunting community. Of course if you guys have any other favorites from the early stunt video days, share em here in comments.

      The stunt here was avoifing to crash against the walls :) Blame fraps (or should I say, blame my PC) for the final crash. Enjoy :)

      @R* Here's a tune from the legendary Jan Hammer that was featured in Miami Vice called Cool Runnin'. Also, it fits very well in this vid of a mini action scene (at the time before HD) in Vice City. Enjoy!

        I used to change in that one pedestrian that looked similar to 'Sonny Crockett' from Miami Vice using the change character cheat and then would put in the all black cars cheat and "borrow" a Stinger that looked very identical to the Ferrari Daytona in Seasons 1-3 (Season 3 for only 2 episodes before it was blown to pieces) and pretend I was in my own episode of Miami Vice.

        Thank you for bringing this game into our lives! Still my favorite GTA and even will be when V comes out.

            I also would like to thank Rockstar for mentioning Gtastunting as a encouraging community. I can proudly say that it means a lot for me and for every stunter, I'm sure of it. Please never ever stop developing so awesome games, we all love them!

            And I've seen many stunters posted here something stunt-related thing made by themselves, so I would like to post one of mine, too.
            I hope you will have a look at it, thanks!

              Hello, cool that you don't forget these People who just have fun to play the classic GTA's and do epic stuff. Also, cool that you are actually interessted to see GTAStunting stuff :D well, I decided to just post one of my videos here. Just all the other guys.

              My latest video:
              And one little bit older video which was not my best:

              I hope you enjoy these 2 videos. There are more stuff comming soon. I really hope you make a GTA V PC version. This will be so awesome :)

                By the way, I would like to mention also some of the first SA kick-ass stunting videos here.

                SA Smackdown

                SA As One Again

                And a little bit later one of the best videos ever with crazy stuff in my opinion!

                SA Avalanche

                There's also a question I would like to ask you. As you can see, stunters use some methods like:

                tecjump (example - 1:14 - 1:24) You have to fire with any weapon such as Tec or SMG while jumping on any bike (bmx, bike, mountain bike)

                taxi boost (example - VC , SA

                monster dynamics - (example -

                Are those methods meant to be in GTA?
                Thank you in advance.

                  @Promagiic Cool, great stunts in these vids

                  @Promagiic Would also worth mentioning a classic - TMS Aftershock

                  Unfortunately Buzzsaw's videos have long gone from YouTube, but IMO AdrenalEnd would have been what proved SA was worth stunting in to the Vice City crowd.

                          Great to know that Rockstar are aware of the stunting community!. Stunting its the main reason I still continue to play San Andreas to this day all the way back since release. I was so excited and loved the game when it was released and I got it in PS2 first, It was delivered on the day of release and I remember playing a little bit just before going to school and loved the game, discovering stunting later on got me continuing playing and still play it to this day on PC.

                          My first ever video;
                          and my latest solo video;
