Grand Theft Auto III Now Available in the PlayStation Store

    Just bought it today reliving old memories, but as I was entering a cheat the game just froze and my system turned off out of nowhere.

      For best graphics on a widescreen TV, do this:
      * In the in-game graphics menu select Widescreen On and Trails Off.
      * Press the PS-button, and go to Other settings. Make sure Screen Mode is set to Full Screen, and Smoothing set to On.

      (This also gives the best graphics for GTA San Andreas for PS3. Trails setting does not apply).

      Game runs smooth, no lag, and looks beautiful. Loving it.

        So uhh....GTA3 isn't playable on PS3....It needs a fix. PS2 games had 60fps, ps3 only has 30fps. How did Rockstar stuff that up?!

          @ShadowAven Hey, this is an emulated game. We should be grateful Rockstar even took the effort to release it for PS3. I hope they do the same for Vice City and San Andreas.

          Turn Trails Off in the in-game menu. I found that helped a lot.

        i just finished bioshock2,first time,and just started dishonored. i am ready for a game in a "normal" world like in a gta game. bring on gtav open world with fast cars and motorcycles as soon as possible.
        the 5 ps2 gta games with improved graphics for the ps3 would be great. ps2 owners got the worst graphics and even with hd cables i still only get 480i.

          I've downloaded GTA3 from the UK Playstation Store, everything's fine with the game other than there is no map. The mini map is there but when I press start it's the only tab missing from the menu. Will I need to re download it or something because it makes the game pretty hard when you can't find ammunation.

                  hi rockstar! I buy the game and completed it but I wish more show the 10th anniversary edition with trophies etc hd remake map. would pay again for that version on PS3 and PS Vita sorry for my bad english

                    @Daniel_0393 HD remake? I don't need it, I think GTA SA and GTA VC should vome in the original version too at the psn.
                    They must programming GTA 5 ready, thatg we can buy it, that is the importantest.

                    @chase2208 As recently said in the previous Asked and Answered Article, there are no plans to bring GTA III or GTA: Vice City to the Xbox Live Marketplace, due to compatibility issues.

                    Just finished the story for the first time ever! I really loved GTA III, And, yes, I'll admit it, I started to well up during the final cutscene =) I love GTA, bring on GTA V! I hope it's longer than 100 mission =)

                        For some reason while driving shooting isn't working when I press circle, so I changed the controller setting and R1 doesn't work either. What should I do?

                          @BitterMarston You can only drive-by with the Uzi. Press R2 + Circle or L2 + Circle and your character will shoot the Uzi out either side of the car.

                            @ But i managet to set 16:9 in GTAIII on PS3 :D.
                            I set "widescreen" in game options and set in emulator settings (after hit PS Button) in another settings>screen type>disabled (i don't know how it is called exactly in english system because i set polish as main language in PS3).
                            Now it's looks great. I'm amazed that it's such a fun game after all this years.

                            @skaposzczet Yeah, widescreen works.

                            You need to set Widescreen to On in the in-game menu. I also found it looks better if you also press the PS-button and set the display setting to Full screen, not Off or Normal.

                            Also turn Smoothing On (from the PS-button menu) and turn Trails Off (from the in-game menu).

                            With these settings I'm pretty happy with the results.

                          R*, How come GTA III hasn't got a map in the start menu? - Anyway, I've just unlocked Shortside Vale, so I'm hoping to complete the game today or tomorrow. Hopefully GTAV news will be posted, and make my week! =D
