(Last Friday's Grand Theft Auto IV PC event, on fire in Star Junction...)

As we celebrate the release of Episodes from Liberty City for PC as well as PS3 – we’ve been practicing with a bit of Grand Theft Auto IV PC multiplayer action to sharpen those skills in anticipation of our next official event: the Episodes from Liberty City PC/PS3 weekend happening tomorrow and Saturday (as detailed in our recently announced April-June calendar of official events).

The menu for the evening in the April 2nd event on Games for Windows LIVE offered up a bloody buffet of Team Deathmatch, GTA Race, Team Mafiya Work, plus the non-team based Deathmatch and Race modes - and a bit of Free Mode for an anarchistic end.

Here’s the recap of that most recent PC event complete with screenshots, winners and highlights of some standout moments...

Eight teams of players entered Liberty City for the first round of play that evening, starting up in Team Deathmatch.  The action went down in Firefly Island as bullets and explosions riddled constantly around every corner.  One memorable battle waged was Team One's GwRockstar3 and GwRockstar4 strategizing against Team Four's AC I Designcave, AC I Master, IvanGTAIV and JurreH.  Our Rockstars couldn’t quite pull out a defeat against Team Four who ended up winning with a nice collective sum of $3,324.

Colony Island was the next destination.  32 players readied for an 'every man for himself' round of Deathmatch.  After the action began, we saw a bit of Deathmatch slapstick with a nice string of players successively and deliberately shooting each other in the back: sztumplayer got Duende Maligno, GwRockstar3 then got sztumplayer, Busta Crusher then got GwRockstar3, and at the end of the chain Busta Crusher met his inevitable doom as well.  All throughout this match, bodies were dropping like flies.  When the dust and guts settled, ISI Thuga won the match with 44 kills, 17 deaths and a nice chunk of change: $4,569.

“Bawhan Dash” was the track in the next mode of play: Race mode.  32 players clashed with Supercars for laps of breakneck pandemonium.  Things turned ugly after the first few turns when DruideMur and stasieks rammed into GwRockstar3, causing him to careen into and flip the cars driven by GVRafioso and JST987.  Racers got back on track and finished the laps, with CK0T0B03KA claiming 1st place.  Well done.

Team Mafiya Work was next up in Bohan with 32 players.  However, most players’ bloodthirst got the best of them and things segued into somewhat more of a Team Deathmatch style of play.  Very few stuck to the script and accomplished the tasks in the mode, but Team Two stayed focused, eventually claiming victory.  Members of Team Two included: mzx30, ISI Claws, ISI iMpZ, Mythbuster92, EsT Bandyt, ADAIPIPO, EsT InfamOus, EsT TechKilla, Capta1n0bvious3, ARTEmFIRSOV, LimpBizkit4LiFE, GwRockstar3, ISI Nemesis, GwRockstar4, Ficho Gamestyle and Bro0klyn KING.

Another round of Race ensued, this time with three laps of SUVs on the track, “Bohan Job”.  Things got off to a rocky start for DavidSusic, GwRockstar3, and ISI iMpZ, all rolling and flipping across the road as other racers attempting to gain ground passed by.  Later in the race, AntiFirePlayer and Dogy D Mr Perry sideswiped each other on an overpass as they watched eventual winner ISI Nemesis lap them both.  He ended up a full 23 seconds ahead of the next racer to cross the finish line.  Strong work, sir.

Next up was a round of Team Deathmatch on Charge Island with sniper rifles.  The purple, orange and green teams scattered about the baseball field and surrounding area, some taking cover and some immediately firing away.  GwRockstar3 looked through his scope and found deathanbu, but it was too late.  GwRockstar3 fell to the ground after suffering a headshot from behind from 1 Studios5107 1.  The round ended with the orange team (Team One) taking the win.

Players then took to the skies with helicopters for the next round of GTA Race.  The figure-eight track layout of “Hard Eight” made for some pretty spectacular collisions in the middle.  GUSSI111 and Dezther were the first to get their blades tangled, causing them to fall to an explosive demise.  Eventual winner Busta Crusher ultimately soared his way to a successful win time of 02:35:67, almost 30 seconds ahead of the next player to cross the finish line.

We ended the night with a healthy ‘there are no rules’ session of Free Mode with Friendly Fire turned off for fun... something that can only be properly summarized by the following screenshot:
