Pixel Enemy's Take on "The Real History: Red Dead Redemption" (Found on YouTube)
We recently came across this very sweet, brief historical analysis on the Old Western geographical inspirations behind the world of Red Dead Redemption, created by a genuine Texan, MrTexan505 on YouTube as part of Pixel Enemy's "The Real History" series on YouTube.
The video offers an outsider's study on the three distinct areas of the game, plus weaponry and emerging technology of the era.

Red Dead Redemption - Perfect Western Shooter
Max Payne 3 - Perfect Cop Action shooter narrative (Like LA Noir but good, and on steroids)
The Warriors - Perfect Gang brawling game
Grand Theft Auto - Perfect Open World game and transetter for many many games that followed
My question for Rockstar is, where do you guys get such great ideas from, film? music?

Again, that's only part of what inspires our games. We'll consider your question for a future edition of Asked & Answered.

Nice name. This lake is Lucky to have such a name that was used by Rockstar Games ^^
I make music and I hope one day to write a soundtrack or just a song/theme for one of your games in the future.
Regards
I was thinking "Red Dead Reloaded". "Reloaded" can also be relevant to the story if it is about an ex-civil war soldier who picks his guns back up to go to work as a bounty hunter. That would be historically accurate aswell.

Great video about a fantastic game.
This year or next year I buy PS3!
Only This and upcoming game it interests me!:D
Legendary
Who cried when heard this at the ending? Redemption's ending is the best and sad ending ever. And this game is the best open-world game on the earth (at least until GTAV).
