Recap and Screens: Episodes from Liberty City Xbox 360 Social Club Multiplayer Event (March 23)

(Over three hours of rampant death and destruction in Episodes from Liberty City Multiplayer last week. Good fun...)
It was a grand afternoon of Episodes from Liberty City races and battles last week Tuesday, in the latest of the Multiplayer Events series events on the Rockstar Games Social Club. For over three hours on Xbox LIVE, we fought, co-op’ed, laughed, lived and died together through the streets of Liberty City in both The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony.
If you missed out on this one, be sure to check out our newly-updated and extended calendar of events recently announced for April through June. And get ready for our next event which will be a Grand Theft Auto IV PC multiplayer session happening tomorrow afternoon!
Read on for a full recap of last Tuesday’s XBL event including screens of some of the memorable moments...
We started things off in The Ballad of Gay Tony Team Deathmatch at “Diamond In The Rough” with explosives as the weapons of choice. Five teams caught wreck inside and outside of the museum, The Libertonian. Our own GwRockstar3 recorded the first kill, blowing away BennoBlue with a grenade launcher. After absolutely destroying all of the valuable artifacts in there and blowing each other to shreds, tweety1993 and J AiIVIS emerged from the ashes victorious in 1st place with $4,158 - almost $1,500 more than the next best team. Well played.

(Players run through The Libertonian museum, launching grenades and deploying sticky bombs...)
Next we decided to head outside for a day at Funland on Firefly Island with 16 players. Scattering about the abandoned game booths and broken down rides, players duked it out using the Episodic weapons class. A highlight of the match was the recurring gag of players spawning on rooftops – both taking the unaware by surprise by raining gunfire from above – and getting camped by folks awaiting the spawning down below – a nice little exchange of gunplay. SoulAssassin808 made sure GwRockstar3 didn't last long on his rooftop perch, gunning him down with an Advanced MG. Congrats to Team One who pulled out the win with $19,270: posila87cz, C0linWii, SoulAssassin808, GwRockstar5, FreshRigi, Edmond Brown and GwRockstar6.

(Edmond Brown looks in dire straits in his vehicle here, but wound up running right over the attacking GwRockstar3...)
The APC was the vehicle of choice in GTA Race, the next match mode. Things kicked off in high gear with the Club Class race track thanks to a group blast of nitrous on the opening straightaway. But the first turn proved disastrous for several players including GwRockstar3 as he ended up having to ditch his overturned APC for a regular car after posila87cz rammed into him and flipped him on his side. Seconds later, Madstrat101 used his APC rotatable turret to blow GwRockstar3 and his new ride to smithereens. Congrats to gam3fr3ak93 who survived the whole race track and ended up taking the top spot for good.

Switching episodes to The Lost and Damned, we started up a bit of prison bus madness with our next match: Witness Protection. The LOST team set it off with a bang, blowing up the nearby gas station with all of the gunfire and mayhem around the prison bus. The N.O.O.S.E. team were able to fight off The Lost though, bringing an end to the round and a cool $500 each for dellared88, Bawkwuhcell, N1KO BELLIC, slamthepanda21, GwRockstar3 and ThirteenAG.

(All-out pandemonium. A gas station explodes while the N.O.O.S.E. and The Lost teams battle it out in Alderney...)
Continuing with some prison bus action, we took it to GTA Race with some of the largest vehicles available. Within the first few seconds, TopMuscelcar used the pit maneuver on N1KO_BELLIC's prison bus, causing it to swerve into the wall and block KTWK H34DSIAy3R and slamthepanda21 from continuing the race unblemished. Holding first place for most of the race, dellared88 was able to hold on, cross the finish line and claim top honors.

(Big boys in town. Heavy-duty vehicles race the streets of Broker in the race track 'Uncoupled' in The Lost and Damned...)
Next up was a Team Deathmatch battle in the Algonquin wind and rain. Two teams battled for supremacy in the downpour, and mostly on foot while a few players grabbed vehicles: r 3mox, GwRockstar4, Cosmic26 and OwnThat 9uy. Even with gunfire flying every which way, the vehicles careened about adding an extra bit of paranoia for those desperately trying to keep their own death count low. The round ended with Team Two victorious with $9,852 in the bank. Team Two participants: KTWK H34DSIAy3R, GVRafioso1, GwRockstar4, xSYBx HeadShotz, Cosmic26, N1KO BELLIC and r 3mox.

(GwRockstar4 plows over Bawkwuhcell with his car, taking fire from Gamerzworld and GwRockstar3...)
Free Mode was an anarchic end to the night and the action got a bit comedic with friendly fire off. Players gathered in an intersection and blasted each other to bits, blowing up countless vehicles and crashing helicopters into fleeing competitors. It was a fantastic display of fireworks and an all out fun way to end the night.
(This intersection became an absolute warzone during our grand finale Free Mode.)
Thanks again to all who were in attendance in-game, in the chatroom or watching the live stream. Below is a roll call of those that played. Apologies as always to anyone omitted:
