Update: GameSpot's Exclusive Hands-On with Red Dead Redemption

Posted March 22, 2010 at 3:30pm | Author: R* S | Filed Under: Games

The first of GameSpot's two-part exclusive hands-on time with Red Dead Redemption this week is now live.

GameSpot preview a new mission, meet a new character (the treasure-obsessed graverobber, Seth Briars), and get to experience Red Dead Redemption's "dead eye" shooting system first-hand:

"Once Dead Eye is activated, you move the reticle around the screen and paint targets on your foes, and then a single press of the trigger results in a lightning-quick volley, taking down multiple foes. This can be precisely applied in various interesting ways. If you're feeling particularly sadistic, this mode is useful for incapacitating your enemies--if you target their kneecaps in Dead Eye, you can saunter up to them at your leisure and finish them off with a wide range of executions that vary from weapon to weapon."

Read all the details here and stay tuned for part-two happening tomorrow.

UPDATE:
Gamespot have now updated the story including some new mission details:

“we had the choice of accompanying the marshal down one path or following the hapless deputies down another. Deciding that the deputies could probably cope by themselves we followed the marshal to help him deal with more snipers and tougher outlaws attempting to pick off those aforementioned chinless wonders. After rejoining the deputies, we finished off the final few rustlers in pleasingly brutal fashion. Some of the finishing moves, which vary from weapon to weapon, will certainly please the more bloodthirsty among the audience...”

Thanks for coming out, but i'm not seeing Pt.2 anywhere on Gamespot, or through any of these links.
JaneMarstonMarch 22, 2010 at 11:49pm
Part 2 is out on Gamespot, it continues from where Part 1 left off.
ARMORALLLMarch 22, 2010 at 11:29pm
Why are they telling us about this now? The preview came out on the 18th and I thought part 2 was coming out on the 19th. I clicked on the link because I thought this was part two but nope!!! This is just reminding us that part 1 is already out and part 2 is coming out... tomorrow... Maybe this time for real!
