It’s been a while... Here’s a latest roundup of some of the questions we’ve been getting here at the blog, via Twitter, Facebook and ol’ Mouthoff...


“Now where the hell is Red Dead Redemption's info? The Movember winner, Gamestop pre-order outfits, 2nd gameplay series. Where the hell are they?” – batik89

Ha - love the enthusiasm!  All of the above will be revealed in the next week or two, we promise.  Look for the 2nd clip in the gameplay series (which will be an in-depth look at shooting - all the gunplay, weapons, dead-eye, natural motion physics and so on that make up this key aspect of the game) as well as a big hands-on preview round to hit towards the end of next week.  Meantime, there’ll be continuing Red Dead goodness posted right here in the coming days.  Keep your eyes peeled..


“Your latest word on L.A. Noire is that it is coming along "splendidly" and that we can expect more details very soon, but that was in September. I've been anticipating this game for ages now and I was wondering if you can provide any new information or when in fact you'll publicly provide more information. By the way, is it still on the PS3?” – received via Mouthoff

There will be something great to see soon - a proper in-depth look at the game and why it is so ground breaking and innovative, both in terms of the game's design and the amazing new technology to support it.  Expect to see a long-awaited reveal via a big cover story next month.

First off, you guys have nothing to worry about: Red Dead Redemption is coming to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on April 27th 2010 (April 30th in Europe) - and we could not be more excited with how the game is looking and playing as it nears the end of development.  As for the stories spreading around the internet, yes we have noticed them.  Unfortunately, this is a case of people taking the opinions of a few anonymous posters on message boards as fact. No business is ever perfect, but Rockstar Games is a tight knit team made up of around 900 supremely talented and motivated professionals, many of whom have worked here for a very long time.  We’re saddened if any former members of any studio did not find their time here enjoyable or creatively fulfilling and wish them well with finding an environment more suitable to their temperaments and needs, but the vast majority of our company are focused solely on delivering cutting edge interactive entertainment.  We’ve always cared passionately about the people working here, and have always tried to maintain a supportive creative environment.  There is simply no way Rockstar could continue to produce such large scale, high quality games without this.  That being said, making great games is very challenging, which is why we have and will continue to try to keep hold of some of the best talent in the industry and support them in every way we can.


“I was highly anticipating the release of The Ballad Of Gay Tony, but just found out that it is only on the XBox360. I am certain that I am not the first person to ask this, but how come it wasn't released on the PS3?” – received via Mouthoff

We know that it continues to be an often-asked question – and believe us, we understand the frustration of PS3 owners like yourself who haven’t been able to play any of our most recent releases.  All we can say is that we at Rockstar promise to be very good to you with our releases in 2010.  Please stay with us and stay tuned!

We know a lot of you out there are rooting around the web in vain looking for those Chinatown Wars iPhone cheats.  So, by popular demand, we'll post a first batch of them right here, tomorrow.  Make sure you're watching this space or following us on Twitter or Facebook to get the immediate heads up.

We'd love to be able to make it available to everyone worldwide.  We're currently working around regional laws and hope to have it available to all countries soon.


"I noticed that nearly every Grand Theft Auto box art since GTAIII has a helicopter in the top left corner.  Why is that?" - received via Mouthoff

We are not really sure.  It just happened that way, and we've kept it often as a sort of signature.  On the boxes, we try to give people a flavor of the game, and in every GTA, helicopters seem to play a major part, so it always seems relevant.  We also change the color palette and style of art between each game, but perhaps these changes are only apparent to us!  Another interesting fact - only GTA3 featured different packaging for the US and Europe.  After that, we decided to keep things consistent across the world.
