The Official Max Payne 3 Cover Art

Posted on March 7 2012, 12:05pm | Author: R* Z | Filed Under: Games

Presenting the official Max Payne 3 cover art that you'll find across digital retail starting today and on shelves this May.

The cover is an updated rendition of the artwork that originally accompanied the game's announcement last fall featuring a battle-scarred Max against the torrid backdrop of São Paulo's helicopter-strewn skyline - alongside the danger of the city's underground criminal element and one of its Brazilian bombshells.

We'll have Official Cover Art desktops and backgrounds very soon.

Max Payne 3 will be available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on May 15, 2012 in North America and May 18, 2012 in Europe, with the PC version launching on May 29th, 2012 in North America and June 1st, 2012 in Europe. Pre-Order now.

I think this perspective makes his face look a little warped. Especially his noise. Probably looks better on the actual case.

I respect your hard work, but in my opinion Max Payne should be alone in the cover like John Marston in Red Dead Redemption. And i would expect a "darker" cover, in the sense of the demons Max is fighting all the time.

I came across the cover art each day now till announcement and somehow I changed my mind, so that I wouldn't like it. I think it just needed sime time for me to get used to it. Now I pretty much like it. But I still keep thinking that some darker parts would have made it better.

Honestly to make the box art perfect just get rid of the two throwaway figures and have the favelas and city occupying the bottom of the art with the art of Max left where it is so it's the main focus.

After all, the game is Max Payne 3 not "Max and his gang thug and Brazilian Bombshell!".

At first i wasn't so keen on the box art either but every time i look at it it grows on me, reminds me of a 70's noir Movie poster :)

Oh I completely understand that most locations are fictionalized, but from all the weapons I've seen, the only thing fictionalized about the weapons are the names. Besides, the in-game models all look correct. In the second design/tech video when talking about the weight of two handed weapons, you can see the same AK in Max's hand and it is correctly mirrored. If you can somehow let the dev's know, at least so they're aware, that would be awesome. I know it's a bit ridiculous hoping to have it fixed, but it doesn't hurt to try.

Box art is definitely growing on me. Gamestop had shelves lined up with mock packaging with the new artwork for all versions today and the art definitely catches your eye. Still disappointed that "Thug #1" and "Brazilian Girl" were used when the cover could of featured Passos and Fabiana but since I'm getting the Special Edition it doesn't really matter.

Now lets get this in some desktop resolutions! Also the new Design & Tech video is in a week or 2?! Nice!

Nevertheless, as someone who has done a lot of looking into this game, I will buy it. But I feel that for someone who has no idea what the game is about, this cover does little to draw attention to the game. The art itself is great, but I don't think it carries the entire tone of the game like Rockstar claims it does. Very bland...

I'm a big Rockstar fan, but this cover just doesn't do anything for me... I don't want to sound insulting, but anyone with a basic working knowledge of photoshop could have thrown something like this together. It looks like one of those faux covers you'd find on a Max Payne forum somewhere. I don't know... There's just nothing about it that says "This is a dark, action packed, story-driven, shooter that will knock you on your ass" -- which is what Max Payne, is and always has been, about. This is not the first time I have been disappointed with a Rockstar Games cover. Honestly, I didn't care for RDR's cover either. I know at this point the cover is "official", but I wouldn't be upset if you guys would change the cover to something a bit more gritty and panicked looking. Maybe an image of Max about to pull the trigger on some gang member who is on his knees while the rain pours down on the two of them in the middle of the night. THAT'S what I'd like to see.
