New York Comic Con Recap with Impressions of Max Payne 3 and Grand Theft Auto III: 10th Anniversary Edition

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth at New York Comic Con this past weekend whether to check out the live gameplay demo of Max Payne 3, to go hands-on with Grand Theft Auto III: 10th Anniversary Edition for mobile - or to score some of the limited-edition and collectible gear pictured above (look for these items and more to land at the newly re-launched Rockstar warehouse soon), we had both games on display to fans and press alike. You can check out the pics above in higher res along with some other shots from the show over at our Twitter stream. Below is a look at early impressions from some of the gaming sites that were on hand at the show revealing what they saw - and look for more in a roundup to be featured here later this week.
Max Payne 3:
"Max, inspired by the real-life look of voice actor James McCaffrey, is physics-tuned to, well, the max. He walks and falls and flies through the air in slow motion like a human who has all 206 bones to use. What’s seen so far is really a marvel of motion capture and game design. Even as Max is falling to the ground, you can carefully lock on, aim and shoot. That’s going to be compelling with a weapon in each hand." - G4

"[Max Payne 3] is powered by the same engine as Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto IV, albeit with some improvements. In the first scene of the hands-off demo - a shoot-out at Max's New York apartment - Max stepped onto the roof and gave us a jaw-dropping, winter time view of the Manhattan skyline. Furthermore, all the characters have been motion captured, making every little movement realistic." - Cinema Blend

"Rockstar went through a lot of motion capture work to get the characters right. It has paid off. Max, and every other character we saw, from allies to the most basic of enemies, are all a part of their environment. Max hops over barriers, takes cover and even takes actual footsteps (no sliding!) to move around. Even quick changes of direction result in Max planting his foot and his body shifting." - DualShockers

Grand Theft Auto III: 10th Anniversary Edition:
"After about 10 minutes of hands-on time with the game running on an iPad 2, there's no mistaking that GTA III on iOS is a loving port of the game that catapulted Rockstar to the top echelon of game developers. The up-rezzed graphics become immediately apparent, with tons more detail on character faces and clothes." - Kotaku

"It features faces with cleaner, more human-like facial detail... That attention to detail applies to the world you traverse as well. I really wanted to jump to the Callahan Bridge area just to check out the city’s vista at night. There’s subtle shading and a looming foggy look at you walk or ride down a street. The polished sheen on car paint now shows off real-time reflections of the nearby environment as you pass." - G4

YES! it's ported to mobile devices from the XBOX version of GTA 3 , so no major difference. But its good thing the mobile devices are getting it. Sure hope it comes to PS3 and 360 and PC. Happy belated Birthday GTA 3
Much more on Max Payne 3 in the next few weeks, stay tuned all...
It would be nice if now everyone could see the new trailer / gameplay ;]
