Check It Out: Sepultura - Dead Embryonic Cells

Posted on August 30 2011, 10:50am | Author: R* R | Filed Under: Rockstar

There's a time and a place for everything. Sometimes when playing Episodes From Liberty City, it’s nice to steal acquire yourself a boat and just cruise the ocean and waterways. This is usually a good time to throw on The Journey and relax to the soothing sounds of ambient music. You know, get away from all the mayhem and hecticness of city life, take in the sunset on the horizon. When you’re ready to return to a life of crime on the mainland you need the right music too. If you’re dealing with the world of corrupt nightlife as Luis Lopez, it makes sense to get into The Beat or San Juan Sounds to soundtrack your activities. But if you’re riding around town with Johnny and The Lost you’ve gotta ride to Liberty City Hardcore.

While listening to LCHC, a great record to rampage to is Sepultura’s “Dead Embryonic Cells”. It's a mean track from their seminal 1991 album Arise, landing in a perfect middle ground between thrash and death metal. Basically, it’s fast enough to make you want to ride a motorcycle recklessly and it's heavy enough to inspire you to try and aim a shotgun while speeding on your Revenant. Honestly, that’s gotta be somewhere in the charter statement for thrash. Plus, it features dudes playing inside ruins which has been metal since Slayer killed it in front of the great pyramids.

Rockstar, you guys should create a thrash station in your next GTA. Slayer, Megadeth, Sepultura, Exodus, Kreator, Destruction, etc. Buy as for this video. Yes, Sepultura rules.

@VBProject: Yeah I was threw off for a moment there, I knew I didn't mention VCS or IV :p

Sorry my bad. My post was for 1800-Tequila, not for WolfRogers.

So many sub-genres of metal these days it's insane, and it gets harder to find traditional thrash metal. Fast vocals over tred picking with the enegy of a 32/16 thrash/punk beat. These days it's all about breakdowns (was once the bridge of a song but now it's all the time) Which I don't get at all. Each to their own tho. One of the best things about sepultura Is there strong political lyrics. While other bands were singing about lame 'demonic' s**t, these guys wrote about things that mattered to them. And what fun-er way to release aggression. And thanks rockstar for LCHC, was awesome to hear some of the old Hardcore songs, and the metal add on for TLAD was pretty wicked too. A little off topic, but I recorded a thrash song about gta, even mentions eddy low haha, but I'm too (maybe shy is the word) to put it up on anything. Keep it speedy guys

              @WolfRogers
They've released GTA VCS and GTA IV OST on iTunes.

@WolfRogers Good stuff on those soundtracks for sure, thanks, we haven't announced any plans that we'll be releasing those tracks though

Hey Rockstar, have you guys ever thought about putting the "fake" music up for download that you guys made for Head Radio and Lips 106? You did a similar thing back when LCS was previewed and we could download "Bassmatic" and "Mine Until Monday" from the Lips 106 website. Would be nice to hear tracks like "Drive" and "Fade Away" from GTA3 and LCS.

@VBProject Yes, Bathory is a bit of an acquired taste but, when it clicks its an amazing thing.

@scareface1970 We're big fans of Sepultura over here as well.

@jimbom101 not bad reminds of early Job For A Cowboy

Dudes, Rockstar, if you want to listen to some proper heavy death metal, go to youtube and type "annotations of an autopsy" or "aoaa" in and listen to their stuff!!
                          F*** yeah!!!

Not my type of music. I prefer more softlier tunes when aiming a shotgun. :D

I really love this track, and it's odd that the front man of Sepultura is introducing his own song in the game. Another noteworthy song from the soundtrack is Bathory's "Call From the Grave"/

Sepultura are so good. Every time I hear Sepultura I think about this instance. I saw Max Cavalera at a show years ago and his hair was in these huge dreads with duct tape around some of them and in the midst of rocking out a huge dread broke off mid song and fell off stage. It was glorious.

Hey R* remember back in the day you guys released music boxsets like GTA Vice City and GTA San Andreas do you think that you will do the same with GTA IV as well as including songs from TLAD and TBoGT?
