Because It’s Friday: Gang Starr “Jazz Thing” (1990)

Posted on May 27 2011, 3:10pm | Author: R* Q | Filed Under: Rockstar, Music

Today we pay homage to the late great Guru paying homage to the legendary Charlie Parker, Dizzie Gillespie, Thelonious Monk...

Mega meta.  Shout to the one and only DJ Premier as well.

Have a great Memorial Day weekend all.

Im very suprised to see articles like this. Partially because im some what a new member on this site but i really appreciate the guys at rockstar north aknowledge real and good hip hop. as opposed to most people in their positon who would judge and hate on hip ho based on the commercialized bulls**t and the clown fake poster boy image rappers who gets pushed in our faces. im a huge hip hop fan mostly good music in generall preferbly the oldies but big up to Rockstar. You get points in my book for this one.

            http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gil_Scott-Heron
His song "Home Is Where the Hatred Is" was featured on IF99 in GTA IV.

P.S. Lack of treatment? That's really sucks man. :((

By god, it's a little late. But I'm glad even Rockstar knows the standouts of true Hip-Hop. Which is both great and laughable at the same time, especially after San Andreas. Made the dieing true Hip Gop community be entertained but cry a little inside at the same time.

Guru of the duo Gang Starr with DJ Premier isn't the epitome of Hip Hop and the culture. But he reflected one of the best with his smooth delivery and no-nonsense stance taking the time to reflect about problems and even influencing several lives to take a better direction.

Rest in Peace Keith Elam, you've met your Moment of Truth.

**** Solar AKA John Mosher! He's the man who allowed Guru to die and didn't even let his family see him forcing Guru's nephew to even make a youtube video just to make people know what's going on.

He's stolen money, property, and done several illegal things. Yet his court room time hasn't come out yet. It's a shame.

@vbproject No idea who that is, so I don't know if their worth an actual memory to remember. Hopefully they have made a positive impact. RIP to them either way. Guru himself died back in 2010 though due to cancer and lack of treatment in the hospital.
