Rockstar Games and Sony Joint Statement on L.A. Noire

We have received a very small number of customer support questions about PS3’s overheating or shutting down while playing L.A. Noire. At this time, Rockstar Games and Sony can confirm that neither L.A. Noire or firmware update 3.61 are causing the PS3 hardware to overheat. We are both committed to working hard to find solutions to this and any issues that may arise. If you are experiencing any issues with L.A. Noire or your PS3 hardware, please contact technical support using any of the means provided below:

I said screw it and played anyway. It will run for about 45 minutes and crash. At that time I still did put one and two together. I thought it was my ps3, but I was playing black ops and portals 2 for hours with no problems. Went back to la noire and once again screaming fan and crashes.
Then I did some research and found these issues. I took it back to best buy and raised hell until a store manager gave me a store credit. I got crysis 2 and it works fine.
My suggestion is to avoid this game even with newer systems. However if it does self destruct your ps3 a manager at gamestop said there are a couple tricks on YouTube that will help fix. He said la noire grenaded his ps3 but he was able to fix it with a heat gun.
maa ka andola...
Tumhari Maa ki laudo EA se game banana sikho bhenchodo............
I have a PS3 for years, and this never happened.
Also, if the problem is not with the game nor the system, where is it?
My review for LA Noire in any site i know will be: Do not buy this game it damages your system.
NOT once has the issue of freezing/overheating occured except once -- that was when I tried to go to the PS Store from within the game (it crashed). Seems to have fixed itself today though.
Aside from the control issue I mentioned earlier (and have raised it with support too) I love the game.
:)
As others have stated every other game works fine on my system, but LA Noire DOESN'T!!!!!
Developers should be testing their games across all models of console hardware. There is a clear pattern that I've seen with both the older XBOX's and PS3's being affected the worst regarding this game.
If you run Furmark, Gamma Cruncher, Prime 95, etc. on a PC without monster cooling, you could easily burn out your graphics card/cpu. Just an example of how "properly working software" can still be harmful to hardware.
Rockstar should have done more testing. Now they are blaming the hardware, which magically ONLY fails while playing this game. "Fix" your game Rockstar, as in you had better find a way to decrease the load put on the consoles GPUs, SPUs, etc. This is inherently YOUR fault and NOT a hardware "problem." Sure, maybe SOME gamers system are a little dusty, but I highly doubt all of these reports coming in are from gamers who never clean/take care of their systems.
Get real, Rockstar. Quit playing the blame game; it's for children. Find a way to make the game run reliably on all systems/models, instead of being a potential hazard to older hardware. This would fall under the responsibility of the DEVELOPER.
I can already see subpoenas being written up by gamers who systems just got fried.
If you wait too long to provide some sort of a fix, then the geeks will really come out to play and soon you'll be reading stories of how "super geek reveals the source of console hardware failures: poorly written/optimized code in L.A. Noire."
