L.A. Noire Honored as First Videogame to Make Official Selection of the Tribeca Film Festival

Posted on March 29 2011, 10:50am | Author: R* Q | Filed Under: Games

We are very pleased to announce that L.A. Noire has been honored as an Official Selection at the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival, marking the first time ever that a video game has been recognized by the festival.

For anyone attending the festival, we will be presenting an exclusive preview of the game as part of the Tribeca Talks series on Monday April 25th.  The presentation will feature a live demonstration of part of a case from the game, followed by a Q&A exploring the crossover between filmmaking and interactive entertainment.

“What Rockstar and Team Bondi have accomplished with L.A. Noire is nothing less than groundbreaking,” said Geoff Gilmore, Chief Creative Officer of Tribeca Enterprises. “It’s an invention of a new realm of storytelling that is part cinema, part gaming, and a whole new realm of narrative expression, interactivity, and immersion. We are poised on the edge of a new frontier.”

Can you tell me why L.A. NOIRE can make it to the film festival and NOT red dead redemption????????? RDR is a brilliant game but for its story-line,,it is amazing. it doesn't make sense why rdr was never entered into a film festival such as this. i havent played la noire yet obviously. but i think RDR'S story-line would far surpasse any ''WESTERN'' film i have ever seen. i think it should have been entered into something like this, at least think about it as a possible re-awakening of the rdr game

Dear Rockstar I really like the new element you've added to the whole video game industry. Your the first ones to ever do this, and I saw also that your also the first ones to present the videogames poster with a May 17 date tag as if it was a movie..I think your up to something with Grand Theft Auto 5...just make sure you go back to your roots, The 3rd one was by far my favorite. If you add LA Noire Style storytelling, and make it first person point of view...oh my god. it would be like half life all over again in the future! Flying cars, jumping on top of valconies, Motorcycles... even physical law defiying weapons...you need to do this.. no more past..bring it to 2052. Cop cars with blue lights only, hoverboards, the audi from iRobot, Robots! I think this is a good idea.

@raghavrocks There aren't any plans to do a video, though there may be some coverage in newspapers and other media outlets.

Hello Rockstar. First i want to say that u are the best gaming company, i love ur work in all this games that u made, and i love rockstar.I beg u Rockstar that if u still care about pc gamers to release red dead redemption and la noire for pc. Many pc gamers are waiting for this game like me . I once had a xbox 360 and i was horrified by it , he wracked after 2 months and all my moneys were lost in what ... in nothing.I dont want to say that i hate consoles or anything like that but why only the consoles must enjoy this 2 games (rdr, la noire) and us the pc gamers wont , what bad have we done.I for myself like to play this 2 games on pc with the highest quality graphics because i spend a lot of money in this pc and i dont want to waste and 300$ only to play this 2 games. So rockstar if u think that and if u release this 2 games for pc they will just be pirated and nobody is gonna buy it u are very wrong, because many pc gamers will buy this 2 games for pc to play online. And i prefer more this games on pc then consoles to play it with keyboard and mouse . So rockstar what im saying is that ive waited almost a year for rdr with the hope that is gonna be released on pc because i know what a great company u are and u never forget about pc gamers, what history we had together, but it looks like this time u have forgoten about us and leaved us in a corner that nobody can see us like we are forgoten by everyone, but i beg u Rockstar the greatest company in universe plz dont forget us the pc gamers and release this 2 games on pc rdr first because its been a year plpaying for this game , when i went to a friend that has consoles and has this game i totally liked it and i thought like how great will it be to play it on my dear pc. PLZ Rockstar dont forget about us and show us some kindness , because it looks like u are now the 'nany' of the console gamers.Thank u Rockstar about everything uve done about us but this is all we want to not be forgoten! I love rockstar!!!!!

Ok, trying to bring the topic back on ... topic:

@R*Y: This is great. I'll be in NY at the time. Is it going to be the same presentation as the one at PAX or a new one?

And congratulation on being selected. Just shows how important this is for video games in general!
