For many players, the first inclination in tackling a game is to play through the single-player missions in their entirety, and then get into the gravy of side missions and achievements and hidden packages, etcetera.
In Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars however, what many don’t realize is that accomplishing the range of “Odd Job” side missions available actually gains you special gameplay abilities and advantages that can significantly help you along the single-player experience and add some extra fun to boot.
Here’s a breakout of some of the available “Odd Jobs” – where to find them – and what you’ll gain by completing them:
Keep in mind that you must receive a gold medal in each challenge to unlock the associated reward. We have listed out what is considered a gold medal performance.
Paramedic - Job found at: Any ambulance you get in (there's always one near the hospitals)
Go for Gold: Save 100% of patients during a single ambulance run
Reward: Receive infinite sprint. Perfect for making extra hasty getaways from the LCPD.
Vigilante - Job found at: Any police car you get in (plenty to be found by the police stations)
Go for Gold: Kill 100% of the criminals in five different crime waves
Reward: Ability to carry double the body armor. Very helpful for protection during brutal Rampages.
Taxi Driver - Job found at: Any taxi you get in
Go for Gold: Achieve 15 successful fare drop offs in a single taxi run
Reward: Receive the bullet-proof taxi. You’ll want to drive this into battle to easily withstand oncoming fire.
Noodle Run - Job found at: The Chinese restaurants located in Algonquin and Cerveza Heights (steal the noodle vans)
Go for Gold: Make 30 successful deliveries (15 deliveries for each of the 2 different noodle vans)
Reward: Regenerating health when your health falls below 25%. Very clutch when you can’t find a health pack.
Alpha Mail Delivery - Job found at: The Alpha Mail parking lot in Industrial (steal an Alpha Mail van)
Go for Gold: Deliver 10 packages (2 separate delivery runs of 5 packages each)
Reward: Increases the maximum amount of ‘product’ you can carry. Meaning mo’ money to be made during dealing escapades.
Fire Fighter - Job found at: The fire stations in either the Northwood district of Algonquin or the Downtown district of Broker
Go for Gold: Extinguish 10 fires
Reward: Will make you impervious to fire damage. So you can brazenly toss molotovs without fear of igniting yourself.
Liberty City Gun Club - Job found at: The outskirts of the Francis Intl. Airport (note that it isn't opened up until after "Under The Gun")
Go for Gold: Earn 10,000 points across all weapons challenges
Reward: Decreases your cost of ammo. Membership has its privileges – save your hard earned cash for other uses.

Lest we forget to mention that each of these little Jobs are pretty damn fun along the way. Take our word and don’t just save ‘em for the end…
