Thanks to all for the questions, comments, feedback and enthusiasm in response to our "Episodes from Liberty City vs The Ballad of Gay Tony: What You Need to Know" post earlier this week. We've rounded up a batch here that inquiring minds want to know...
"Would I need an Xbox LIVE subscription to activate [Episodes from Liberty City] or anything to do with LIVE?" - scorebreaker
If you buy Episodes From Liberty City on disc for Xbox 360 at retail, you don’t need Xbox LIVE at all, other than to play multiplayer (which is a lot of fun and highly recommended). Of course, if you’re looking to download either of the episodes, you’ll need Xbox LIVE.
"Does anyone know how big the size of the file[for The Ballad of Gay Tony] will be?" - lorraine
It will be a similar size to The Lost And Damned, which was 2 GB.
"Do we need to have The Lost and Damned in order to play The Ballad Of Gay Tony?" - 29391
No. While it’s great to have knowledge of Episode 1’s story to get the most out of the revelations in Episode 2, it’s not essential. You can download and play The Ballad of Gay Tony on its own.
"If I buy the new standalone disc, can I play original GTA IV missions from the new disc (play as Niko Bellic)?" - Pardla
No, the Episodes From Liberty City are completely separate standalone games. To play through Niko’s story, you’d have to play the original release of Grand Theft Auto IV.
"Will all of the content that was added with the Ballad of Gay Tony and the Lost and the Damned be added so it can be used in the original, or will I have to continue to play each of the add-ons to use the new stuff?" - crow114
New features that appear in the Episodes do not cross over into the original Grand Theft Auto IV. The feature sets were designed with the story and gameplay arcs of each specific game in mind.
“PS3 PLEASE, dont forget that Grand Theft Auto originated on the Playstation system (PS1)” - anthonycr
We appreciate the enthusiasm of PlayStation 3 owners and believe us, we understand where you're coming from. That's why we are working hard on a lineup of PlayStation 3 releases for 2010 that we know you will be very excited to play - including Red Dead Redemption, Max Payne 3, and the PlayStation 3 exclusive AGENT, which is a brand-new title from Rockstar North, the creators of the Grand Theft Auto series. Plus there's more yet to be announced... Thanks again for your patience and please stay with us!
"Will there be tanks?" - JayDil
Mayybe... We’d like to leave some surprises for the previews of ‘The Ballad Of Gay Tony’ a little later this month. And you can always keep checking back to the blog and the official site for more revelations on the features of Episode 2 as we get closer to launch – and there will be many. Did that answer your question? Not really, but you can’t have everything, eh?

What about motorcycle gameplay? Will it be the same as GTA4's or TLAD, or somewhere inbetween?
Only new comers will feel the difference, but for us who have been playing GTA for atleast a good decade are urging for something better :)
How do WE PS3 owners know you wont go a month later after Agent is released and say hey where making it multiplatform.
And about the Grand Theft Auto DLC you said "it’s great to have knowledge of Episode 1’s story to get the most out of the revelations in Episode 2" LOOK at us PS3 owners WE want to experience how the story turns out to.
HOW do you expect us fans from the PS3 and PC to carry on with your damn series when WE have to miss out on important things that happen in TLAD and TBOGT that could effect the story in later games and we wont get to say OH so thats what happend, and so forth.
Rockstar doesnt give a crap about the hardcore fans, i sent them a message about the PS3 and i go a message back thinking it was nice, until i saw on a forum when another person asked the same sorta question, AND they got the same damn reply.
AND i can see they put the same damn thing here that they put in there email replies about the PS3 "Thanks again for your patience and please stay with us!"
Fricken ridiculous and to think ive been a fan for all these years of this company.
And then they dont even give a crap about those fans such as myself....
So thats shows how much they read our emails throughly.
Speak for yourself next time. I've been playing GTA since 2001 and I enjoy each one that has came out. GTA is GTA for me. Sounds like you're a fan of Saint's Row.
@ russelljones
Get your f**king panties out a bunch. This GTA 4 DLC for 360 complaining is old. Please get over yourself. Me and so many others are f**king sick of hearing it. We're drowning in the rivers that you and others are crying. Either get a 360 or have Vista 64 on your computer with a 360 controller, gaming reciever, and correct hardware. It's that f**king simple. I'm not sitting here crying cause Ratchet & Clank is PS3 exclusive. How old are you??? R*, check this persons age. They're actions aren't matching the age requirements.
And money DOESNT grow from tree's you know! MOST people in this world CANT just go to the store and buy something thats expensive like a 360!
How old are you? really dont you know how money is something you must earn....
You could have fooled me, I have been at this 20 years and I can swear it originated on the PC but that is alzheimers for you. I noticed there was nothing in the Q&A regarding PC users (why am I not surprised).
So basically PS3 users :-

and PC users :-
"f**k you"
Message received and understood.
I've been a fan since 2001 and if it was PS3 exclusive I would go get the damn system so I could have it. Ask your parents for the money. How can 360 owners gloat when Sony f**ked you PS3 owners over??? R* went to where the money is at. At the end of the day it's business. And YOUR tired of gloating?!?!?! Look at your long ass comment crying a god damn river cause it's not on PS3 Smh......Also, the 360 isn't expensive. For me, once my warranty expires in 2011, it won't be as much as it is today. But if the warranty was to expire soon then it wouldn't really cost much for me cause I have my hard drive but I'm glad I still have my warranty. IMO, the PS3 is more expensive than the 360 right now. You can get a 120 GB hard drive, black Elite, black controller, black wired headset, with HDMI, including Halo 3 and Fable 2 for 299.99. Sony's slim PS3 is only 120 GB for the same price with 1 controller. Money isn't an issue for me. I work for my things and if I don't have enough then I borrow and pay back. I'm old enough to buy Grand Theft Auto btw. Your acting like a child so I take it that you're a child.
These 2 episodes are 360 exclusive but technically, with Episodes From Liberty City being on disc, you can play it on PC as long as you have the requirements I listed in an earlier post ^^^ there.
And I am not and would not cry a river over a video game, I do have frustrations and anger about this though becuase i was thinking possibly this post would tell if the DLC would ever come to all the fans.
I did outburst a little to much I agree in my first post becuase I have been waiting for these answers from Rockstar since yesterday, and I am just greatly disapointed.
The only video games I have ever really cared about are Grand Theft Auto games, and when i got my PS2 i started with a Grand Theft Auto game and the same with my PS3 I bought Grand Theft Auto 4 with it.
And I wasnt directing the gloating piece at YOU I meant it to the people that you see in yotuube video comments saying " haha PS3 sucks you dont get the awesome DLC"
Im also not trying to act greedy, im saying what im saying becuase I think EVERYONE should enjoy the DLC.
But whatever I guess.
And I cant ask my parents for money becuase my mom has MS and she cant work, so I have to take care of her.
The music and radio content that comes with The Lost and Damned is also added to the original Grand Theft Auto IV when the episode is installed as downloadable content. Will having both episodes in download form result in having a combination of all radio music content across GTA IV, TLAD, and TBOGT? How does this experience compare to having Episodes from Liberty City on disc instead? Does the Episodes disc include all the music from the original Grand Theft Auto IV? Can the Episodes disc be used to install additional music into Grand Theft Auto IV?
Regarding gamerpoints and achievements: as downloadable content, The Lost and Damned's gamerpoints and achievements are tabulated as part of Grand Theft Auto IV -- does Episodes from Liberty City's standalone release count as a "separate" game for purposes of gamerpoints and achivements? Is it possible to earn a "full" 1000 gamerpoints playing Episodes from Liberty City, and how is that possible since The Lost and Damned only has 250 gamerpoints?
I don't follow your logic. And no, I'm not a Microsoft apologist; I'd been a Sony fanboy until this generation, but the Xbox just feels like the better platform this time round in both software and internet services. I'm really glad that Rockstar was able to release downloadable episodic content at all!
"These 2 episodes are 360 exclusive but technically, with Episodes From Liberty City being on disc, you can play it on PC as long as you have the requirements I listed in an earlier post ^^^ there."
I am sorry did you actually just say that ? because that has to be the most uninformed statement I have ever seen. The disc version called "Episodes of Liberty City" WILL NOT WORK ON A PC. It doesn't matter what spec machine you have. The disc will only work on a 360, please think before you post on here with blatantly wrong advice.
That is the only reason im frustarated.
Im sorry if i offended anybody, but if it was PS3 exclusive I would think alot of you Xbox 360 fans would be angery and upset(not crying upset but mad and so forth).
To me you cried a river cause it's old news and it's irritating when people are still complaining after 2 years. You can play on the PC as long as you have the requirements to play it. But as far as PS3 goes, it is fair cause Microsoft made R* 50 million dollars richer when Sony did nothing. Also last I checked, Xbox didn't get GTA until a year after Vice City and a year after San Andreas then LCS and VCS were PSP/PS2 exclusive. Don't take your frustrations out on R*, take it out on Sony. The last year and some change, Sony has been ass backwards.
Ummmm I own 3 custom built computers and was once gonna be playing my 360 games using those requirements and it also states the information with the Vista 64 product so do research before telling someone they're wrong
@ russelljones
They don't come with hard drives but a small memory card. Enough to save the data.
I guess im going to buy a Xbox 360.
I just dont like the idea I am buying a 200 dollar system for a 40 dollar game.
I guess i will have access to both consoles, who knows maybe I will like some things on the 360.
